Greeting to everyone from your famous camper! This is my first official post for MacRumors. One of the users printed off a copy of the thread and brought it to me and I thought it would be fun to join the conversation.

Some would say I am crazy, but I say I'm a very determined fan. In fact I just might be one the biggest Apple fans you will actually meet. I have been the first costumer for this store since 2008 when the iPhone 3G was released.

Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week.

Yes I did reserve a phone, but again, I'm doing it for a fun experience. I haven't had a trip or vacation in past 10 years so I figured I make it a full week camping trip.

My setup and location has everything I could need to live for a week, even in the Texas heat. Tent is packed with a sleeping gear, a chair, full ice chest of drinks and food, and the Apple staff have been very nice to me treating me like a king. LOL I also brought a extension power cord for phone charging and things that need power. There is even a portable toilet around the back of the store if needed.

That been said, I'm actually doing really well out here. If anyone gets a chance, come join the fun!

Justin

Dude, I respect the fact that you took the time to post in this forum. I wish you the best with your well needed vacation that you said you have not had in 10 years.
As long as you are happy, then the comments some of these idiots make on this forum should be beneath you!
You are an inspiration to other autistic/Disabled people as well as non autistic/disabled individuals as well, including me. If I could camp out right now, I would. Cuddos to you Justin and good luck. Just make sure you drink plenty of water, since it is extremely hot there in Texas.

I have free unlimited WiFi, but it's just my iPhone 3GS that I have with me. No laptop. I'll do my best to keep up until the store closes at 9:00PM Central Time.

Another thing. If you have a 3GS, you can do youtube documentation of your adventure and post it to youtube. If you dont have a youtube account, you can set it up via safari, or within the application itself(I think). That way your adventure can be seen by the world and you will have the memories for a lifetime for your weeks vacation.
FYI- you can log onto macrumors on your iphone via safari, instead of having to wait to go into the apple store to post here on the forum.
Good luck my friend!

Maybe I missed it but he never said he was autistic.

Sure news station, post the video of iPhone waiting Justin in flash. He can't watch his own video on his iPhone nor me on my iPad. Bastards.

Thanks E & dtboice for posting that!

Great interview Justin. It looks really hot & muggy there!

I just read the posts on this page and don't really like what I'm seeing. Why all the tension?

What's the update with Justin? It's hard following this thread because it's so active!

Thanks for posting that. Would like to point out how the news lady said at the end that he is really roughing it as there is a star bucks across the street. She like me assumed he can't leave his spot and has to look at a star bucks all day. Just like I assume people bringing him food assume he can't leave for food. So that's why I assumed he couldn't leave. It's a general assumption.

Anyway, he looks like chit. I can definitely tell a difference in his demeanor in this video. You guys that live local should have a nurse check him out. He can suffer a heat stroke out there. He doesn't look good and even with the water, he needs to be checked. He can dehydrate without even knowing he is until it's too late.

What Fun!

I think Justin is adorable and that it's quite righteous that he is doing something so whacky. While others here are chained to their desks, mortgages and less than thrilling lives (clearly), he's creating a story that he'll be able to tell for the rest of his life. Think of all the people he's meeting. The outpouring of folks wanting to help make this camping trip more comfortable for him. That's just great.

I don't know what to make of those who are posting mean things here... I kinda feel sorry that they don't have a sense of adventure and fun. Must be miserable.

GL Justin! Hope someone brings you an air mattress, that concrete looks hard!

"I sat outside a store for a week so I could give a company $200-300 for a phone that would be made obsolete in a year or less."

Yep, that's a story to tell the kids.

The same as people camping for hours/days for concert tickets or Star Wars movies back in the day. It doesn't matter what he's in line for, camping out like that is an adventure and he's got a butt-load of stuff to tell people in the future now, if not just tales about all the media hounding him.

Not trying to be an ****** here, but either your camping out for a week or your not. If you come and go for hours at a time, your out of line and no longer camping. Not trying to be an ******, just saying. Its like camping in the woods, you don't take a time out and go to apple bees then come back. I dunno, just my opinion. I know it is tough, but your cheating your adventure if you leave for hours at a time to hang out at someone's apartment.

He didn't "hang out" for hours at someone's apartment, he took a quick shower at one close by. And I don't know about you, but my idea of camping isn't sitting in a tent for a week. If you set up camp for a week long stay, and then go for a walk for half an hour, are you no longer camping? I can see where you're coming from with defeating the purpose of waiting in line etc, but it's not like he's staying at home and then briefly going to his tent for the media. He is living outside that Apple store for a week.

I've been following this thread from the start, it's been really fun, and I'm sure it will continue to be :). The attitude of some people here is ridiculous though (I wont even get started on the other thread). He's not harming anyone with what he's doing, he's simply doing what he want's to do, and enjoying life. How can you criticize, and even abuse, him for this? Sure I think he's crazy for doing it, but I also really respect him for doing it; it's what he wants to do, it doesn't affect anyone else, and he still does it regardless of some people's negative attitudes. Besides, all of us are crazy in one way or another :)

Justin, i hope the rest of your week goes well and you love your new iPhone. You have far more supporters than critics/haters :)

Sure you might go on a walk if you're camping out in the woods, but when it comes to camping out for tickets, a film, a show, or a phone (really?) it really cheapens the whole image if you aren't there the whole time.
Go back to your hole please. Thanks.
I'm sorry, I simply stated the story one collects on such an "adventure". What part did I miss?

Anyone find out if he is on Twitter?

He is not on Twitter from A DM he sent me

From experience (iPhone 3G) camping on the street even for one night is hard. Some of the Haters should try it sometime or maybe their just mad Justin beat them to it.
Some of my friends who gave me a hard time then are coming to camp out this time. Met a lot of great people it's like an Apple tailgate party!

Tisk Tisk Tisk

What a waste of time. Nobody's going to get online with him til 6/23 evening. He could in his home taking baths, watching tv, going to work, partying and still wouldn't miss getting an iPhone 4. I guess an idle mind does dumb sh!$
