What a load of BS. You are saying most android users haven't upgraded to the latest version because they didn't think the new OS has features they would use? What does that say about the advancements in Android?

The truth is that there isn't an upgrade path for most android phones. Or if there is one it is too complicated for the average user. Most android manufacturers release a phone and then forget about it and move on to the next phone. I find it funny that you criticize Apple for not bringing every new feature to every iPhone version giving the state of android upgrades.

Yes sir

I hate wireless synching. It takes forever. I don't understand why Apple put USB3 in their new MBPs but not their iPhones. A thunderbolt cable would also have been nice as well. Imagine syncing/backing up in seconds rather minutes or hour depending on the amount of music, apps, and other data you have on your iPhone/iPad?

I know that it's slower, but I'm not usually pressed for time every time I need to sync.

Annoying, yes. Deal breaker or a real issue? No.

And Apple laptops are likely cheaper to add USB3 to.

You need to re read my post and not put meaning in my words that I did not write.

I'm saying most android users only use the device as a phone. I did not suggest users opinions to Andriod. Only an idiot would try to do that. Any Andriod phone can be upgraded.

It seams you like Apple treating you badly, but don't take it out on me. I'm only stating facts.

Also, address your attitude. Your comming across like a fan boy.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Your thread is meaningless. Get a grip and focus on the topic at hand. iOS does not have native browsing exposed to the end user that will freely enable access or management of your own data. Fact.

What do you mean how is it boring? I am also bored with iOS because it has looked the same for the last 5 years with minimal improvements.
This statement absolutely stunned me. This is like saying "I'm bored with my microwave controls" or "I'm bored with my TV's remote". The OS should be stable, functional, and easy to use. Why on Earth would you want the OS to constantly be overhauled just for the sake of being "new"?

Thank god that (at least according to the Pocket Lint statement) my assumption was correct that the penetration of the black (slate) anodizing would be fairly shallow and wear off in time. I LOVE how the black looks, but was afraid it might turn into a slate/silver zebra over time.

White wins for me!

Even if an OS is stable, functional and easy to use it can still become "boring". iOS could be a lot more functional and it could be improved in a lot of areas, things could be made easier. The UI hasn't changed in the last five years and definitely could be updated - this is completely different from "being constantly overhauled just for the sake of it", this is just your statement; and it is definitely completely different from getting bored with your microwave controls or TV remote, which is a inappropriate analogy.

If I update my iPhone 4 today, I'll get "Do Not Disturb"...and I'm struggling to think what else will truly be great to have. No Siri, no Facetime over Cellular, no Turn by Turn (and without that Apple Maps is more of a downgrade), not even Panorama. Facebook integration, Passbook and Safari iCloud Tabs are nice enough but not exactly worth a year's wait.

But hey, I'm on the latest iOS right? The number is all that matters.
Security, privacy, and standards compliance updates? Not so great, no one cares about security or privacy anymore.

-CNET:
"The bad: Sprint and Verizon models can't use voice and data simultaneously. The smaller connector renders current accessories unusable without an adapter. There's no NFC, and the screen size pales in comparison to jumbo Android models."

Sprint & Verizon...really? So other handsets can do this?
Smaller connector/accessories...really? Apple had to change it sometime. Also, do all iPhone 5 owners poses tons of accessories...how about first time buyers.
No NFC. Absolutely, Apple & I are not convinced this is the way to go.
Screen pales in comparison to "JUMBO ANDROID MODELS" **THIS IS A POSITIVE--IT'S A PHONE NOT A TV**

Wow. I would have thought the C-Net reviewer would have put a bit more thought into his review. I think people that are reviewing the iPhone are *trying* to look for flaws and problems; afraid that their review won't be any different than any other reviewers that praised the iPhone 5. Trying to be different for the sake of being different.

What data?

I can freely manage my own contacts.
I can freely manage my own mail.
I can freely browse and play my own music and videos.
With iBooks I can freely manage my own PDFs.
With Photos/WebAlbums I can freely manage my own photos.

What is Apple disabling my access to? Please be more clear about what data you are wanting to manage, we can probably help.

Imagine this scenario:

I want to download a sound snippet that I want to use in my mobile video editing software. My friend has sent it to me via e-mail.

What do I do?

What do I do?

You tap and hold the file.
Select the application that has registered the file extension.
Edit away!

I don't have any video editing software, heres a spreadsheet example.

"We've already noticed that on the black model the edge has started to wear, revealing the shiny silver aluminum metal underneath." Pocket-lint

If true, THIS IS NOT GOOD.

inevitable. metal is shiny inside. keep it in a case if you dont want it to scratch or wear off.

----------

I love the black version this time even though I've only owned white iPhones till now. However, at this point in time, I think it looks like choosing a white iPhone 5 is the "smarter" choice. :(

depends on what you consider smart. if you want it to look brand new always, then a case is a must. but even w/ cases ive found the finish on my 4S tarnished w/ wear. myself, having sold used equipment, im satisfied w/ the "used, normal wear & tear" option in ebay, which covers that. i dont put my notebook computers in cases and simply dont care how they wear because its normal use and i dont sweat it. i think thats "smart" and am fine w/ it. lastly, my white iphones get more grime in their seems, which is not noticeable in the black models.

You cannot compare the two in this way. This year Android had 9 million preorders against the 2 million Apple preorders. But many of these 9 million users only need or expect a Phone from the handset. You cannot compare the two and expect meaningful results.

I have no idea what these numbers are supposed to mean to you. 9 million preorders by global carriers vs 2 million preorders by consumers in 24 hours are not even measuring the same thing.

But the facts that can be compared: Any of the 9 million andriod users could have upgraded to the latest OS if desired and benefited from the new advancements and features.

What do 9 million GS3 preorders by carriers have to do with anything? Could have upgraded?

Compare this to how many iPhone 4 people upgraded to the latest iOS but were still locked out from features such as Siri.

Apple chose to not allow this feature. The hardware is compatable. How is this supporting it's user base. Apple do not deserve loyalty. They will squeeze every last $ from you because that's all their after.

That's just FUD.

Yes it is true. The OS does not do this without support from paid Apps. Even with the right apps installed, it's still clunky and difficult.

More FUD. Paid apps are not required. What OS do you know of that opens files without the appropriate app installed to read the files?

And somehow 90% of Android users being on a 2+ year old OS is better than less than 50% of iOS missing out on a few select features. Missing out on security features, OS optimizations, and new APIs is somehow less important than Siri. Can Google Now run on Gingerbread without hacking? That's the type of rationalization that Apple fans are famous for! :)

Aaarrrgh. Must. Stop. Reading. Reviews.

I had managed to convince myself that I didn't need to upgrade my iphone4. But, but, but.... all these reviews!

I WANT ONE! There. I've said it.

Just updated my iphone4 to ios6. Now that I realise what features I have missed out on I WANT ONE EVEN MORE!!!!

Gaaaaaaahhhhh

Yeah, iOS6 on the iPhone 4 is not very interesting. All the cool toys are on the newer phones.

BaldiMac, your already lost. iOS 6 and the crappy maps won't even save you.
