That space gray looks much darker than I expected. Excellent! I didn't want to give up my black iPhone 7.

I'm looking at that colour in the X when I can finally get my hands on one (if ever). Currently have a Jet Black 7+ so was a little unsure with some of the pics making the space grey look a bit light, but I'm happy to see the glass back darkens it a bit. I think it looks quite good on the 8/8+, hopefully the X is the same.

I was considering the silver, but the white back has put an end to that. If it was a shade of silver similar to the 7 I would have been interested.

"Retail stores in most countries will be opening at 8:00 a.m. local time letting customers pick up reserved devices and make purchases via walk-in. Because supplies of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have been plentiful, it should be no problem for most customers to walk into a retail store to purchase a new iPhone"

I would say, more than plenty inventory is more like less demand than previous years iPhone models. I still enjoy my iPhone 6 Plus and I don't see anything worthy on the iPhone 8 to make me go for the upgrade.

Or the iPhone X2
I don't know, I have this feeling that 'X' is a one time thing.

I have to admit also the space gray does look really nice, but that silver iPhone X though... It's so damn crisp looking!
Yeah, choosing what color to get may be a tough decision for me (once I get past the price). The capacity on the other hand is a no brainer thanks to Apple deciding not to offer 128GB.

Already proved impossible to pick up a cellular model without a preorder here in Oz - no idea what the lag time to refill will be. GPS models abound, but cellular have gone. Something like 1-2 extras per Apple store, and none for electronics chains.

Given the lead time now online is anywhere from 3-6 weeks depending on the model, it's a disappointment - stemming for me from my carrier not electing to release any information about addon information until days after the preorders went live. Ah well.

Of course I’m exagerating for effect. But I do feel that, at the level we’re at, better internals don’t change the experience that much and that a physical redesign (slimmer bezels, lighter) or a truly new display would be much better.
Fair enough but there are changes that are actual improvements and then there are gimmicks. I remember seeing a pyramid shaped phone. Samsung's curved edge on a display is a gimmick and is actually worse than a flat display (as far as display fidelity is concerned). OLED on a phone? Yeah it is "new" but there are downsides to that too. OLED is actually less power efficient than LED when displaying mostly bright things and white (iOS is very white). Sure, OLED has better contrast but it also gets burn-in much faster than LED.

I think both the iPhone 8 and X are interesting. I am not at all excited about the OLED or "bezel-free" design. What is exciting is the incredible processing power that allows for all sorts of on-board AI and AR. It is strange how blithely some brush this aside. Yet processing power, more than an ever larger display or different shaped casing, will permit users to do so much more with less effort.

Disappointed in the new 4K Apple TV 4K films on iTunes. You can only stream them and they look worse than 1080p most of the time. My internet isn't the fastest at 20Meg but is apparently able to stream 4K, it works fine with Netflix 4K which looks great on my TV. suppose it might load onto the Apple TV and look abetter the next time I watch it! I don't think the new Apple TV is much of an improvement to be honest, the built in apps on my 2016 LG are better.

here we get 175mbs download fiber optic internet for about $100/month. That would help I'm sure

There was only small lines outside some stores to buy the new iPhone 8 in New Zealand and Australia. Just shows the iPhone 10 maybe the iPhone every one is after as the extra cost is only a small increase over the 8. The media say different but they report fake news.

Get a grip dude! It's 14 grams heavier and 0.2mm thicker!

That's the added weight of a completely empty soft drink can! How on earth am I going to be able to lift that...

Just imagine what people here would say if Apple made it thicker to make the camera flush and add a bigger battery lol. Apple can't win.

I was walking past the big Telstra store in the Melbourne CBD at 8 am and popped in to check out the new phones. Was told that I was the first person for the day. Previous years there’s been long lines and even longer waits.

If everyone is waiting for the X there’s going to be a lot of disappointed people come November if the supply issues turn out to be true.

For what it’s worth the 8 plus screen with true tone was very nice. The glass back also felt more grippy than aluminium. The Note 8 was also on display which got me thinking about maybe holding out for a future iPhone X plus (Xs plus?).

And does any of that significantly change the experience? Nope.

Neither will the X. Not sure what you're expecting. For users upgrading from 6s and older iPhones, those upgrades to the 8/+ will absolutely make a huge difference in experience.

Yeah, nothing at all different for the iPhone 8 vs. the 7. Why would anyone consider it?
Yeah, sure, those are all nice internal upgrades, but it's still a rounded rectangle. With a screen. And a button. A substantial contingent of this forum won't perceive it as a new phone until it's circular, or triangular, or maybe a sphere or dodecahedron. How else will anyone know that they have the newest one? After all, it's not a fantastic, extremely useful tool, it's a shiny bauble meant to impress women.

Oh yeah, I’m down for that dodecahedron. Bring it!
