Apple customers in Australia and New Zealand are always the first to get their hands on new devices on launch day because of time zone differences, and the iPhone XR is no exception.

It's now morning time in Australia and New Zealand and customers who pre-ordered one of Apple's new devices are beginning to receive their shipments. New iPhone XR owners have started sharing photos of the device on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and the MacRumors forums.

There are no Apple Stores located in New Zealand, so customers in Australia were the first to be able to purchase an iPhone XR from an Apple retail location. Given that iPhone XR stock quantities remained strong following pre-orders on October 19, Apple should have plenty of stock available for walk-in purchases around the world.

Following New Zealand and Australia, iPhone XR sales will kick off in Asia, Europe, and finally, North America. Apple Stores globally are opening up at 8:00 a.m. local time to allow customers to pick up reserved devices and make walk-in purchases.

In the United States, the first new device deliveries and sales will take place on the East Coast starting at 8:00 a.m.

Aside from Apple, other retailers including carriers and big box stores are also stocking the iPhone XR and should have supply available for launch day purchases.

We'll be sharing first impressions of the new device from actual Apple customers in Australia and New Zealand, so make sure to stay tuned to MacRumors and if you've received one of the new iPhone XR models, let us know what you think.

Looking good!
Definitely need to check it out before I pull the trigger on XS even though I can get a pretty great deal on XS by paying around $600 or XR for just a few hundred bucks.

The XR is another genius, surprise device targeting non-pro customers, but without skimping on pro-level tech. This is akin to the Airport Express and SE launches. Thanks Apple!

Well, to be fair, while the processor was comparable in the 6s and SE, the lack of 3D touch, a second gen touch-ID, and barometric sensors made the SE a little less pro-level, IMO.

I'm excited to receive a black XR tomorrow. I pre-ordered one for a family member to replace their failing 6S.

In comparison, the XS and XR Including the same A12 processor, wireless charging, True Tone, True Depth Camera and stereo speakers make the XR even more compelling Of a Purchase for the consumer, which still includes a similar form factor with Face ID with a $250.00 price under the XS, make this is a solid iPhone.

I don't get that comparison at all. It's not like the XR is any less expensive than Apple's previous flagship phones. It's a nice phone, I guess – as it should be considering Apple's asking price – but it's not going to attract any new customers. Nor does it seem particularly attractive to anyone who was waiting for Apple to release a smaller phone.

Does the Xr have landscape mode on home screens like the plus iPhones did?

Haven't seen this in videos or reviews or is it only the Max that has it?

Can't wait to get my red XR tomorrow. It's about time Apple introduced a Product Red version at launch.

i have never read or heard the phrase "pro-level" referring to iPhone differences before.
thanks for this.
while there has been iPhone 5c, iPhone SE, etc, i don't recall the phrase "pro-level" being used to differentiate these from higher spec models.
more affordable; even "yesterday's tech"; these are terms i could understand. including the word "colorful" as some sort of dog-whistle with actual meaning of "less than the top grade model".

i wonder if the phrase "pro-level" or not is useful in defining the difference between the Xr and Xs.

The front camera was a non starter so I’m glad it has the same exact system as the rest of the X’s. Upgrading from an SE myself so everything is a huge leapfrog forward. All the pixel talk around here and I’m getting nearly DOUBLE the pixels going from SE to XR.

The bezels.. the bezels!
I don’t think the bezels are THAT bad.

But it’s the same DPI as the SE, right?

“Pro Level.”

Lol. It’s a smart phone.

What “Pro” would be using it?

Definitely agree, it's the sort of phone for the sort of market that the 5C completely failed to capture.

On another note: dude you are ripped. No wonder you've got the arm stamina to write 100 posts a day.

I have to agree. Apple has knocked it out of the park with this. I’m revising and saying 60% of total iPhone sales by Q4. Really going to hold back the XS. Doesn’t compete with the Max so Max sales will stay strong. Apple will gain market share with this device leading to increased services revenue. All I need is a great Mac Mini on the 30th and I’ll feel optimistic again. :apple:

I'm not understanding why people are saying "I hope it sells well". Why? To reward Apple marketing for gimping the screen? The best thing that could possibly happen to the XR (for us consumers next year) is for it to be an utter sales bomb. That would teach the smartypants in Apple marketing department not to mess with the screen next time around.
But yeah- The current XR will still sell by the millions and millions and millions
