Eh. Not bad.

I won't be upgrading this year. The price increase for higher storage models will assuredly guarantee that.
I think you missed the news that Apple has signed long-term contracts for RAM that still cover the 18th generation of iPhones. AFTER THAT, prices will likely go up. That means: Anyone who decides to skip buying an iPhone this time around because of higher RAM prices will be in for a shock when it comes to the cost in September 2027!

I love the Dark Cherry! Hopefully I can find it within my budget to upgrade this year! I really want to retire this 14 PM.

Would you say getting the 17 Pro would be a good buy right now? I could care less about the 18, given the minimal changes from rumors

yeah, they just need to get rid of that light blue and replace it with a nice vibrant yellow.
You mean the light gray.

That being said I just don't the hype regarding colours. At the end of the day how many people are wrapping a cover around the phone with the colour never to be seen, or only slivers of that colour. I have a 17 Pro Max in orange. I went with this colour because it was the one that came the fastest. I immediately wrapped a nice brown leather case around it as does everyone I know with an iPhone of every generation. I am sure there are some who go sans cover, but I am guessing they are the outlier.
The camera bump is so large on the Pros that it seems difficult to ignore. Personally I don’t use cases.

"showing off that people have the latest model" 🤣 Where is this even a thing? In elementary school? I couldn't care less what phone other people use.

And yeah, it's hideous, but you can put it in a case. Great solution. Jobs would love this.

Ha I get it, the status symbol thing means more to some than others. But it's definite an Apple thing in some ways. If nothing else, it tells me people are buying the new models.

I wonder if the Dark Cherry color will have fading issues like the Cosmic Orange did this year. I’m sure others will disagree but - to my eyes - the Dark Cherry looks closer to purple than to, say, wine. Not appealing to me at all. That said, I’m sure it’ll be a sales hit. But I agree with others who have posted that the current iPhone Pros have genuinely unattractive designs. I think I’ll wait until we know what the second-generation iPhone Air is like before I update from my 16 Plus.

While I'm personally not a big fan of any, as this general design language just looks bad imo, the dark cherry is going to sell like hot cakes for sure.

It'
‘My’ iPhone 14Pro and i will pass.

I'm thinking the same thing. Never liked the "feel" around the edges of the 17 Pro. I'm sure of that is solved with a case but still. More tempted by an iPhone 17e (to get rid of most of the bulge) or the iPhone Air, which has a bulge but is still thinner and nicer looking.

Good to see Apple actually is considering a pro color for a pro device again after the cartoonish and childish colors that they offered for last year.

Extremely low expectations on iOS 27, but hopefully the hardware will have a few nice notable improvements since that seems to be the only area Apple does better these days

For CMYK? They have Black, Blue (Cyan), a kinda of Magenta colour and then a light blue, so remove the light blue with Yellow and you have CMYK.

Went from a 13 Pro Max to a 17. No interest in these Pro models. My wrist much prefers the base model. The phone doesn't even feel small.

Yeah. While I want to check out the second-gen iPhone Air first, a base 17 is a distinct possibility. I suspect the 17 will be considered one of those special iPhones that come out every few years. It’s an almost perfect phone and the battery life is a bit better than my 16 Plus.

Almost June so waiting makes sense. Apple did not cut corners with the base 17, it's my favorite iPhone since my first one, the 8 Plus. I do sometimes miss the telephoto lens and I never use the wide angle, but if I need it my girlfriend has a 17 Pro Max. She's the one taking most of the pictures anyways lol

How you were able to go 4 years with the 13 pro max is incredible. I could not last the 14 Pro Max for barely a year, but for some reason on the 16 PM, I can stand it, even almost 2 years

I suspect that new interesting colors drive iPhone sales more than any other single factor. I wonder if there is any data out there on this.

What you call “light blue” is Silver, and I called it light gray. I thought you meant the Blue by “light blue”.

I’ve had 6 iPhones so far, right back to the original (original, 3GS, 4S, 5S, 11, and currently 13 Pro), and I’ve never had a case for any of them. Never regretted it either (did crack the back of the 4S, but other than that never had any noticeable damage on any).

I’ve noticed fewer people seem to be using cases these days, too.

That doesn't mean squat in terms of pricing. It just means they protected their bottom line. Sure the increase will not be as bad as say the Steam Deck but it'll be there, I guarantee it. They'll try to emphasize what other features your added money is getting but it'll be in part because of the storage. To think otherwise is just plain naive.
