That doesn't mean squat in terms of pricing. It just means they protected their bottom line. Sure the increase will not be as bad as say the Steam Deck but it'll be there, I guarantee it. They'll try to emphasize what other features your added money is getting but it'll be in part because of the storage. To think otherwise is just plain naive.
The price increases (if they happen at all in September) will be exactly the same as those from the iPhone 15 (Pro) to the 16 (Pro), and from the 16 (Pro) to the 17 (Pro)! That's all there is to it!

This paraphrase depresses me because I’m so old I remember seeing the original quote it references on live TV.
Don't be depressed. Enjoy the fountain of knowledge one has experienced and enjoy referencing it. Your back catalog is a lot weaker when you're 18.

I was hoping the cherry red would be a deeper bold red like burgundy wine. Not that cherry soda looking mess. And the blue is too sky blue. Prefer that pacific blue from years past. Oh well, I guess it’s boring space grey in a case for me.

So was its thermal insulation though
Meh.

First, my titanium iPhone 15 Pro gets plenty hot when I am doing something computationally expensive. So clearly the thermal conductivity is fine. (If it was wasn't conductive, the exterior would not get hot).

Second, the titanium iphones were mostly aluminum anyway. That little bit of titanium coating on the outside didn't change the overall conductivity much, but it did increase the exterior hardness against nicks and scratches significantly.

Third, I drop my iphone more often than I do something computationally heavy on it. On ballance, I'd rather a stronger exterior than one optimized for passive cooling.

Wow… Dark Cherry would be nice! I‘m in!

I wonder why they don‘t do a real Hot Pink, that would sell like crazy.

Light blue for the win, in my opinion! Also still love the Silver.

Maybe time to upgrade my iPhone 15 Pro this year!

1. Insulated doesn't mean it doesn't get hot, it means it gets hot later and longer because it traps heat inside on internal components for longer, then once the outer casing finally absorbs the heat away, it takes longer for the heat to dissipate, so your phone and you feel it longer. Conductive means the heat escapes the internals into the casing faster, then the heat escapes the casing faster into the environment so that it's ready to absorb more heat away from the internals.

2. Any thermal insulation in a pipeline of thermal conductivity is a kink in the chain and largely negates the conductivity before (and after) it.

3. That's your valid preference, but Apple has to make business choices based on the preferences of the majority. Presumably, there were a lot of complaints of overheating from Pro 15/16 owners, more than complaints of lack of durability from Pro pre/post-15/16 owners.

Silver for me. I'm with Natural Titanium and Silver iPad and Apple Watch. Used to like "colorful" phones like the 14 Pro in Deep Purple and my Air 4 in Green, but not anymore. Silver is sleek and fits with everything.

Leaker Sonny Dickson today shared images of iPhone 18 Pro dummy models in the device's four rumored colors, offering the first real-world look at what to expect from the lineup visually.

Corroborating previous rumors, the dummies show the iPhone 18 Pro Max in Light Blue, Black, Silver, and Dark Cherry. Dickson said "Cherry will probably be the next hit, orange did very well." Cosmic Orange was the signature color of the iPhone 17 Pro and proved popular with customers.

Dark Cherry is expected to serve as the headline new color for the iPhone 18 Pro models this year. The color has been in the rumor mill since at least February 2026, when Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple was testing a deep red finish for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. At the time, Gurman described the shade as a deep red, and separate reporting from a Chinese leaker later suggested the color was very likely to make the cut, partly because Android rivals were already prototyping the same shade.

This looks more like a silver iPhone 18 Pro

The previous design was used on the 12 pro, 13 pro, 14 pro, 15 pro and 16 pro. You have to change eventually.
I want to get the 17 Pro right now, at least since it's currently the new generation of the new design. But I don't know if I should wait for the 18, since I don't care too much about the supposed change

Dark Cherry would only tempt me if it were deeper, darker, and more metallic looking, which hopefully it will be. (These dummy colors are not as good as the real thing.) The blue is nice but I know I would get sick of it, so it will be silver or black this year.
