Proven by Linux's installed base of about 1%, mostly guys living in mom's basement, because 99% of computer users are idiots... I guess.
Seriously, I laughed out loud when I read this post.

I'm not advocating linux for the general population(rMBP with Mavericks is my daily driver for work), but after doing technical support over the last few years, 99% of computer users being idiots is a fair estimate.

Two complaints with packaging
1)Boring brown box with no logo ? I think it should come with some really awesome design or at black coloured box like inner box
2)Specifications at bottom of box ? isn't it inconvenient ?

I actually think you are being serious. Does it bother you to demonstrate this kind of thinking to the world?

There is an inner black box. Sorry it doesn't have multi colored cartoons on it for you to enjoy.

Specs at the bottom bother you. It's a friggin' box that you won't be looking at for more than a minute. And if you don't know what you bought/ordered, then you aren't smart enough to be making purchases other than crayons.

I can't believe how this forum manages to attract so many bad comedians and unintelligent people.

If you don't know Apple's obsession about packaging and dedicated rooms for unboxing, read here and here Redesigned Mac Pro deserves some cool graphic on box. Thats my personal opinion. If environmental friendly packaging is reason for brown box, I appreciate that.

Is there any logistical reason for putting specs at bottom (Like barcode reading) Anybody with experience in logistics please give explanation. If not they can put it anywhere that means at top too.

Mr newbie, I have spent lot more time on this forum and learnt to response only if I can contribute to knowledge. I have thanked one reply because his explanation. I cant believe how this forum manages to attract so many people who know nothing except bashing someone's opinion. You provided no explanation for any of my concerns except doubting my intelligence. How intelligent is that?

I am happy that I am still obsessed about box than someone's Shirt :D

I think unpacking videos are boring.

But I want to see that shirt.

Must resist...

Should be interesting to see if they use the same new design/colour in next years MacBook and iMac updates.

If I owned one of these I'd want to mount it horizontally raised on a couple of arms so it looked like a rocket jet engine on some space ship. Very starwars looking. Or mounted vertically sitting on a support frame that also alluded to the future space look, increased the airflow space and allowed the whole machine to be suspended in space.

I'd like custom skins. Or buy a spare lid and get it painted. Or sticker this one.

As for the info and specs on the bottom. It's obvious. Putting it there maintains the beauty aesthetic of the box. The box is elegant and simple. Apple. Imagine putting those info boxes on the side or top.

With Apple elegance of design is everything. And I love them for that.

I have absolutely no use for a machine of this power. I still love it though. I also sent a link to a friend of mine that works in the movie business as well as plays with making his own movies. I've seen how long things take to render and he'll be watching the video and contemplating "Hackintosh" or this.

Nice stuff.

Great! The video has so many subtle messages. I'm sure the hardware is ideal for Windows 8.1 and Linux.
Yes better then most (if not all) non Apple PCs. And the only thing to run better on the new Mac Pro I have heard is OS X.

OS X is just a useless toy.
Only to those who do not how to use it.

Same video on youtube for those who don't like watching videos on this site for whatever reason.

This says all.

There's another unboxing video where they roll the nMP across the table. The thought came to mind that they could use the nMP for bowling and the pins could be Airport Extremes.

Jesus this new Mac Pro is just a BEAST (for working ofc)

Just look at the 64GB of RAM or the Double AMD FirePro!!

My sweet iMac 21.5 -inch Early 2013 is nothing compared to this MONSTER, jesus!

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M
8GB RAM 4x2
Intel Core i5 2,9 - 3,6 Ghz

Shakes head.
Unboxing videos, how qu...r can you get.
This whole 'unboxing' thing is one of the lamest manifestations of Apple geekdom.

Yea, because we all were clamoring for a portable DESKTOP computer.

Indeed!

Just received an email from apple saying my order changed. "Promise R4 no longer available." even after I purchased it? I called apple and the rep said she's not sure why it was removed, as they're still available on the apple store. I'm losing faith in Apple's competency. Email:
Dear ***,

The PROMISE Pegasus2 R4 8TB (4 by 2TB) Thunderbolt 2 RAID System on your order is no longer available. As a result, it has been removed from your order.

To add a different item to order, please contact Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775.

We appreciate your business, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,

The Apple Online Store

Yea, because we all were clamoring for a portable DESKTOP computer.
Sarcasm noted.
But it would be useful in certain situations. Like say you need to travel with your computer it's easier to put the new MP into a car and hook it into wherever you are going's network.

Great size, personally never liked certain placement limitations of conventional desktop machines.

Redesigned Mac Pro deserves some cool graphic on box.

It has cool graphic on the box. You're saying the box with cool graphic deserves a second outer box with cool graphic.

Aside from environmental concerns, a major factor is that shipping it in a plain brown box is less likely to advertise what it contains and attract people who might want to steal it.
