i've got my order in. After watching the vids I'm not so sure this is the Holy Grail vs. a MacBook, or even my Apple Folio Keyboard. I'm wonder for my use if an Apple trackpad might do it for me. Or an Apple mouse, as the Logitech Mouse doesn't seem to give me real access to a MacBook experience. What am i missing here??? I'm still going to give it a shot. I want to believe!!!

Make the SMART choice and get the Logitech keyboard or for $150
or blow $350 on the APPLE keyboard
BE SMART. save $200 while 25 Million lost their jobs in a bad economy.

Does Logitech offer a trackpad keyboard for a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”. If so does the trackpad five the same functions as an Apple Keyboard trackpad?

quick question, is there an app yet that allows me to correct a document (think word or pages) with the pen, like cross out a word, write in a new one (like i'm editing a paper) and then the new word pops into place? Or is that rumored for the next IOS?

Canceled as well. I know the keyboard will be much better than my keyboard folio but I only use the keyboard half the time. The other half I have it folded back and laying flat to make notes or just sit on the couch and read. I could remove the iPad each time it’s magnetized but I dont want to get in a position where I’m having to go get the keyboard to use it. I really like that my keyboard is with me. I do not like feeling of the keys while in portrait mode but I’ve gotten used to it over time. I plan to replace my 2018 12.9 next release so maybe I will reconsider at that time versus buying the smart folio that I already have.

Exactly my usage case. The folio keyboard acts as protection when I carry the iPad in a backpack or am walking around with it. And it makes it easy to switch between tablet with touch and/or pencil to typing, without having to remove it from the folio. Detaching the iPad from the folio to use it like a tablet kills the use case for me. It also means I lose some protection from the folio case, and means I might leave the keyboard behind.

I guess the search for something small to carry everyday and use for light work continues.:-<

Doesn't it always seem like that "next iOS" will always be "the one" that finally makes the iPad what we all hoped it would/could be?

10 year old platform now that's still trying to "get there".
Honestly sort of a bummer when one things about how slow it is evolving and gaining great features.

I wonder how strong that secondary hinge is. Can it easily be broken by bending it over the limit?

The first Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro orders have begun arriving to some customers ahead of schedule, and some have posted hands-on videos online.

Seven videos from two iPad Pro users have appeared online so far, offering the first close look at the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro.

The first video appeared in Thai, featuring the unboxing experience of the Magic Keyboard. Other videos by the same user have given a look at the USB-C port on the hinge of the Magic Keyboard, which is used for passthrough charging, as well as the brightness of the backlit keys.

There have since been four videos in English by YouTube user MrExitStrategy, covering many of the new key features. The first of these shows the hinge system of the case, which provides a "floating" cantilevered design for smooth viewing angle adjustments of up to 130 degrees.

There is also a look at the preferences pane of the Magic Keyboard in the Settings app, revealing that the keyboard backlighting brightness may be changed manually or automatically adjusted based on ambient lighting conditions.

The most recent video offers a more detailed comparison of the Magic Keyboard with the Smart Folio Keyboard, and walks through some of the new trackpad gestures in iPadOS 13.4. This video suggests that the trackpad uses a mechanical click rather than haptic feedback. The cantilevered design is tested for stability, including for use with Apple Pencil.

Earlier this week, the Magic Keyboard became available for order online alongside the new iPhone SE, and most deliveries are expected to begin arriving next week.

It’s got a lot of potential. iPad Pro is almost there as a full computer replacement with the keyboard. I go back and forth between windows and Apple. I had surface pro 4 and than the surface pro 6. resold both of them

i resold my iPad Pro 11 last august.

I just got MacBook Air 2020 as my “portable computer”

Hopefully Apple releases another iPad Pro in late fall with A14X processor/6gb ram. And I will go all in with the keyboard.

Frankly I don’t understand the hate regarding the Magic Keyboard case. In my opinion, it’s a huge improvement in every way versus any alternative. Vastly improved keyboard experience, trackpad with zero latency (can’t say zero latency for ANY other alternative), cool floating design with sturdy hinge, extra USB-C for charging (frees up the iPad’s USB-C), easily removable for handheld use (better suited for ambidextrous usage versus the Smart Keyboard Folio which was geared for right-handed people)...the list goes on...

The $350 asking price, while expensive, is not completely outrageous given all that is packed into the case.

Cancelled my pre-order. The holy grail is a case that can completely do both a "laptop mode" position and a "tablet mode" position. This is still not that. I don't need to spend an extra 400 dollars to turn my iPad Pro into a MacBook Air with a neutered OS.
What were you expecting? That this keyboard would magically provide macOS to your iPad?

This looks really nice, but I don’t think I can justify the price, especially right now. The trackpad also looks kinda small.

and this trackpad support will speed that process up

the iPad Pro is more powerful than the weakest MacBooks, just never had the controls till now

By benchmarks. iPadOS is such watered down operating system, it pretty much restrict hardware. I firmly believe iPad is limited not by the hardware, but the software.

Well said...

Apple needs to flat out stop updating iPad hardware until they get the software far more sorted.
iPad hardware is beyond overkill for the usage limitations imposed By iPadOS

I think Apple should continuing improve iPad hardware, if rumored ARM based Mac is true. I still think when it comes to ARM based Mac, current processing power is still not going to cut it. Most Mac applications are x86 based and performance will suffer when runs on emulation mode. I believe it will be long way to transition from x86 based to fully ARM based, when lots of professional applications takes ages to recode.

I am sure they are continuing that fight in the lab...worry not.

iPadOS is where the iPad ecosystem needs a TON of work still.

I would rather spend more on a product I know will work better for me, then spend less on something I know won't work as well for me.

I want a backlit version of exactly the Smart Keyboard Folio. I’d pay up to $250 for it.

Each of these sentences is exactly my thoughts of my 11” iPad Pro w/ Smart Keyboard Folio.

While I understand balancing will limit how far back the first hinge goes, I'm surprised you can't push through that point and flip it around for tablet mode.

Anyhow, I've got one of those Satechi stands, so I'll just get it a dedicated keyboard and trackpad and stick with my Folio case.
