I'm sure Miles Davis is not even 10% as popular as Justin Bieber. No, flat doesn't need to go away. A near 90% adoption rate of iOS 7 is evidence that it doesn't.

Yosemite is a mountain, Obersalzberg is a mountain. Alcatraz is both an island and a prison and therefore Apple wouldn't choose it. But even "places in California" adds pride and patriotism, which is nice if you are from California and like to be from California. These are not features of the earth celebrating the earth. These are features from one place celebrating that one place. Now you are connected with that place and every good or bad thing coming from there.
Im still confused on what improvement the duplicate instead of save as brought us.

You know that all of Apple's products are MADE in California?

I seriously hope your wrong this Monday. I am very much looking forward to seeing OS X transition to a flat UI.
i kind of agree about the xi, but they dropped 'mac' from os x to simplify the 'x' brand. Again 'x' is simple and straight forward in comparison to 'xi' - i know it's 1 letter - but from a branding and marketing perspective it makes sense to keep it as simple as possible.. And 'x' is still 'cool branding'.
I think if / when systems amalgamate further it could go to 'xi' but it wouldn't surprise me if they scrapped the 'x concept' all together in favour of creating something 'fresh' for another 10-20 years.
The question is - what's simpler, bigger and bolder than 'x'?
/2 cents.

Thanks for this epic fail. BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke.

Californians may love California, and talking about how they're from California, but the rest of the country generally does not have a positive feeling about California. The rest of the world probably doesn't get the references, or sees California culture as a threat to their own cultures.
They should have gone with, well, anything else. Mavericks is a stupid, confusing name. Yosemite may finally teach people how to pronounce it properly (it's four syllables, FYI), but it's really our worst national park. Beautiful from afar, maybe, but it's a smog-filled valley overcrowded with tourists ignoring the scared and sickly wildlife whose habitats have become parking lots for endless streams of smelly buses. Sequoia would've been a better image to associate with. Well, at least it wasn't Death Valley.
Considering i have deep and personal disdain for nearly all things California, I'd vote for just about anything but this Cali-loving crap. But alas, I'm probably also in the minority.
They could have gone with other mighty animals, planets... anything...
I'd be happy for OS X 10.10 to become simply 'oh es ex ten'.
Always wondered about the pronounciation when people write OS X 10.9 for example. For me the X is not "ex" but a roman ten. So people would actually say:
OS X 10.10 = OS ten ten ten
best name ever.
In every non-English speaking country the pronounciation is the equivalent of "OhEs Ex". Nobody calls it "OS Ten"...Always wondered about the pronounciation when people write OS X 10.9 for example. For me the X is not "ex" but a roman ten. So people would actually say:

Yo-Set-A-Me is how it's pronounced.
Yes but he was an ******* at work and too stuck in his out of date methods. No one liked working with him.Why do so many people dislike Scott Forstall? He seemed so nice and fun when he demonstrated at the keynotes.
