I just hope 10.10 will be the new Snow Leopard - performance-tuned and super stable.

No, flat doesn't need to go away. A near 90% adoption rate of iOS 7 is evidence that it doesn't.

You can't conflate adoption w/ popularity when users don't really have a choice. It's like saying black was the most popular color for the Model T. Sure users can stick w/ an older OS but sooner than later users will find an app that requires the most recent version. Office for iPad for example.

In every non-English speaking country the pronounciation is the equivalent of "OhEs Ex". Nobody calls it "OS Ten"...

People in English speaking countries say OS X (ex) as well but we also know that X is the Roman numeral for 10. I believe that all non-English speaking countries know this as well. It's just what people say... no big deal.

I seriously hope your wrong this Monday. I am very much looking forward to seeing OS X transition to a flat UI.

The high adoption rate for iOS 7 wasn't because it was flat. It was because it was newest and current. If there were an option 'B' for iOS 7 that included Scott Forstall design, I would have taken that instead.

I think you all miss the true spirit of the new OS:
OS - NO MORE MOUNTAINS (Hint: a crossed-out picture of a mountain).
Apple's new approach to design: flat

Yet adoption rates were higher than ever before.

Frankly, this new 'OS per year idea' needs to end.
Improving something that is perfect already produces crap.
Just add the new features onto existing OS via the App Store to keep it competitive.

Not as simple as that. I know quite a few people that wanted to go back to iOS6, trouble is they left it too late and Apple were then not signing it anymore. Therefore they, as are we all, are stuck on iOS7 whether we like it or not.

Don’t know why, we can choose to go back to 10.6 still if we want to.

Definitely agree. This is the one major reason why Apple will never take over in enterprise. There is not a single IT dept manager that will wear this craziness.

Not to mention the undeletable auto download of the new OS that would hold several GB hostage, unless user took bizarre precautions to disable WiFi before every charge.

I always upgrade with every single release of OSX but I pay the price of having the initial release with my system and applications not running at 100%. Hopefully I can hold out till 10.10.1.

oh the temptation :D

The first smart thing either of you have said -

it's "no big deal".

I'm calling the announcements/releases:

iOS 8
MacOS 10.10
iPhone 6 4.7"
Certified for iBeacon home automation

NO MORE FLAT!!! Flat sucks. I want depth. I want details that inform the user on how to use the interface. Flat is boring and bland. I want elements separated by borders or drop shadows so it is easier to tell what is what. This whole flat fad needs to go away. It is just a fashion thing like skinny jeans and v-neck tee shirts, entirely impractical and uncomfortable.

Skinny jeans look cool.
I don't think OS X will be as flat as iOS. But we'll see. I'm both curious an a bit worried...

Next! (Not NeXT)

From now on it'll simply be "OS X". No number, nobody cares about that anyway.

They can listen to the jeanyusses in marketing again and just name it The Next OS, like they did with whatever The New iPad that was.

Plus, isn't it kind of odd that a company that's so into education spells things iPod touch, instead of Touch? (The iPod part I get.) Oh wait, they're into creativity, not education. Now it makes sense.
