Seriously how many more revisions are we going to get of OS X. Isn't it time to move up to verison 11?
I think that will happen when the next really big UI change occurs, when they get rid of the mouse and use something else.

But "el capitan" IS Spanish. Maybe heaven should forbid English speaking countries to pronounce it

I hope not. The dock is much better now, I really dislike the flat dock, it's like going back of 5 years to tiger.
Will it be free like Mavericks? Hope so... Cause Mavericks sucks.
I might be in the minority but I preferred cat names to be honest.
They're not "revisions", they ARE versions. They'll move to 11 when they'll completely change the kernel and all the tech underneath, and I don't think that'll happen soon.

Strike anyone else as weird that we've gone almost 300 posts talking about version numbering strategies for the 10th point update of the 10th major version of an OS, and whether we like cats or mountains better, and how much California sucks-- but we don't seem to know anything about the new OS itself?

Clearly OS X 10.10 is going to rock.
Oklahoma is even more mythical. The less you know about a place the better. You don't wanna be remembered that things are made in the real world with real problems. Oklahoma is perfect to forget about all that. But if you keep remembering people that you are from this world, you will become involved with all the problems every real place has. Oklahoma is high on the list of states executing the death penalty. And there is something wrong with California as well. This trigger-happy Yosemite Sam character is perfect to link Apple with every gun problem in America.california is mythical..
pretty sure if apple was based out of say, oklahoma, they wouldn't be doing this type of marketing.
this joke is very old already. you obviously didn't read the previous 12 pages of comments.
I don't think you're in the minority, to be honest. This whole California thing is great, if you're from California. For the rest of us, much like their whole 'Made in California' ads, it's all pretty meaningless.
Everyone likes german cars, but would you want to buy a:
BMW Nuremberg
BMW Obersalzberg
BMW Dachau
If you see no problem there, than ...
NO MORE FLAT!!! Flat sucks. I want depth. I want details that inform the user on how to use the interface. Flat is boring and bland. I want elements separated by borders or drop shadows so it is easier to tell what is what. This whole flat fad needs to go away. It is just a fashion thing like skinny jeans and v-neck tee shirts, entirely impractical and uncomfortable.
Apple's making OS X flat, if you don't like it you've got 9 other OS's you can use.
Such a shame you had to ruin your thoughtful post with such an unthoughtful and offensive word. Come on, it's 2014 not the 1980s!

Yosemite is a mountain, Obersalzberg is a mountain. Alcatraz is both an island and a prison and therefore Apple wouldn't choose it. But even "places in California" adds pride and patriotism, which is nice if you are from California and like to be from California. These are not features of the earth celebrating the earth. These are features from one place celebrating that one place. Now you are connected with that place and every good or bad thing coming from there.those are cities.. apple is using landmarks / features of the earth.
you see the difference?
