Is it just me or is every Apple TV show hot garbage?
So far it’s just you and everyone else with no discerning taste 😑
Is it just me or is every Apple TV show hot garbage?
Hey - I owned Netflix for 4 years. I enjoyed it back before they started canceling my favorite shows. I enjoyed Sense8, I loved the Marvel shows - esp. Daredevil. But some point over the last two years they just started pumping out bland and also-ran content to try to spread as wide a net as possible. It's mostly mindless garbage now - even as they lose their backlog of content to the other services. They have now "indefinitely hiatus'd" my favorite show Mindhunter. When Stranger Things 4 is released I'll re-sub for one month (and catch Witcher) and then bid it adieu for another year.I haven't used this service, but saying it's better than Netflix is a BOLD statement.
Netflix content can vary, but their first party content is usually very good, they pick up fan-or-cult-favorite shows that networks neglect and give them proper endings, and the sheer variety in their selection of shows and movies is still the best.
Netflix is the best-bang-for-the-buck-out-there, in my opinion, if anything for the enormous amount of shows on it.
I cut the cord roughly 6 years ago and currently have Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Prime, but Netflix is my go-to.
I use the other services when they become free for a month, and after binging the spoiler-danger shows (GoT, WestWorld, etc) I cancel them, with Disney+ being the exception (I'm a Sith Lord after all).
I've yet to grow interested in ANY shows from the other services that are worth cancelling Netflix for.
I guess it also depends if you have a family or not. We watch older gameshows like Jeopardy there, as well as a lot of the anime and animated series.Hey - I owned Netflix for 4 years. My watchlist is HUGE,and I'm still getting caught up with older shows; I haven't watched a single episode of MadMen, for example, and recently got caught up with Arrow and finished Bones, Lost, and Person of Interest (outstanding show).
I just started Peaky Blinders (it's fantastic), and intend on FINALLY finishing off Jessica Jones.
I guess it really depends on the shows that interest you, to be sure. But Netflix has a LOT of content for the 6 of us in my household. Something the other services cannot match.
That's fair. I've seen Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Both are excellent. Netflix does have a good back catalog of content - definitely agree with you on that. I'm just more at the new content stage, and don't enjoy most of what Netflix puts out - I give their originals a shot, but more often than not I come away disappointed and it puts a bad taste in my mouth having spent time I'm not going to get back for something that ultimately lets me down.I guess it also depends if you have a family or not. Oh wow! I definitely have enjoyed the content I've watched so far (mostly just Servant and The Morning Show) but I certainly have not been watching it more than any of the other streaming services, so it's interesting to hear that you guys have. This is a show I don't think I'll care for; however, I have been surprised and proven wrong by the quality of the shows---Servant, The Morning Show and Truth be Told are all solid offerings. My wife and I watch more Apple TV+ than Netflix or Amazon.
Still tho, Little America feels like it'll have..an agenda..if you know what I mean...
A lecture in the beauty of humanity? I think that would be in order in your case.
Try watching it and understanding what it is trying to say before pre-judging it. It leaves politics and the current immigration question totally ignored. Little America instead focuses on heartwarming and inspiring stories about people who love our country.

BINGO! Apple is def. going for the HBO feel. I put HBO leagues above Netflix, so that's very reassuring to me.

Based on your post history I am very skeptical that you actually stayed up last night to watch Little America.
Whether it is good or not, Apple is getting too darn preachy with their shows. I'm not into preachy shows, regardless how I feel about the shows or their message. I want to be entertained, not preached at. So far Apple has failed to entertain me, but then again I’m not some robot moron like those depicted in the original Apple TV commercials for Macintosh in the early 1980s wherein said morons blindly follow the "evil" company (Microsoft, IBM, etc.) like fanboys. And yet Apple fanboys have become that evil too. Whatever garbage Apple churns out, the fanboys applaud and anyone who points out that is merely garbage gets a new one torn...
Or, the shows just don't appeal to you - and you perceive preaching differently than us. I personally do notice threads of preachiness at times, but I shrug it off as the shows are top notch quality. I can assure you I am not a "blindly following moron," - I have owned Netflix, do own amazon Prime, pay for Hulu and HBO. When I praise Apple shows, it's because they are putting out excellent content, and I get really annoyed when people blindly bash it because that's what cool to do.Whether it is good or not, Apple is getting too darn preachy with their shows. You mean the one that's completely optional? The one for everyone but no one in particular? The one that doesn't require your feedback? That lecture?Awesome. Looking forward to the lecture.
You’ve already watched it?
For All Mankind was very good but I feel like fans are waiting to see how it pans out in season 2. Once you go down that alternate reality road and start too rewrite history, things can go terribly well or just terrible because it works as an exponential domino effect. I'm waiting to see how they make that big jump into the 80s before I get excited for season 2.How is everyone not raving about For All Mankind? It's awesome! Easily my favorite Apple TV+ programme so far.
Awesome. Looking forward to the lecture.
LOL. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. The trailer. That’s what the trailer is for. To determine if it’s worth watching. Pass. Shows like this are a dime a dozen on Netflix. People complain Netflix has a lot of crap to sift through? It’s shows like this that they’re talking about.
BRAVO!! This comment is a masterpiece. For those complaining about "preaching" shows:
You are ALWAYS getting "preached" at (even right now). It's called: communicating.
Stories are told. The question is whether the story is compelling or not to you.
In regards to this show, some people like to learn about the groups outside their comfort zone, others don't.
Fair enough, but usually the ones complaining are the ones who want to segregate people out, one way or another.
I'm glad shows like this exist; shows that highlight positivity in overcoming the obvious and glaring cultural differences in the US, let alone the world.
I LOVE freedom (under logical and fully-reasoned laws), which is why I cannot abscribe to the narrow, dogmatic view of the Jedi. I prefer to have a...larger view of the force.
A Nigerian cowboy in the US is both an excercise in freedom AND rebellion, and it's punk rock as frak.
The critics can kiss my lightsaber.

Yes it is. Apple wants To tell everyone how they should live their lives.People successfully transitioning from one life in another country to another life in a brand new country isn't preachy.
