Fair enough, what iPhone are you currently on? also IMO iPhone 3G was the most aesthetically pleasing iPhone
I have iPhone Xs which I am trading in. I ordered a blue iPhone 12. I will also get a 12 Mini but I don't know what color...

Tech in general has hit a point of incremental changes. What do expect? It's a phone? Hence why apple is trying to maximize services. Hardware on phones is like cars and computers. Eventually you hit a point where the change is limited. What more can they do for design except make it full screen?

The iPhone is 13 years in. There is likely going to be limited progress but that's for every phone at this point. And it's not as if you have to upgrade every year.

You forgot about the new ceramic display shield. Also they finally ditched intel modems and we are back to Qualcomm . That’s huuuge. You also forgot to mention the whole line up is now OLED, and we got a new mini size. This is a great release. don’t even get me started on MagSafe
Thanks :)

Let me start off saying I've owned iPhone 3G, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6, 7, 8, X and now 11 but for the first time im genuinely disappointed at a Apple phone launch product. The new design reminds me off a iPhone 4 with just more screen and the features these year aren't really groundbreaking. Now there's also the price tag of this new iPhone $1399 CAD for the 12 Pro which is pretty much MacBook pricing at this point at this point I'm just venting but man I never would've thought the day where Apple drops a product I don't want to throw my money at.

Do you guys think this is a good release? Are you purchasing it? and if so let me know so I can wrap my head around it!
Do you think sub-consciously, the Pandemic may have to do with your decision. I know with money so tight, I realize my needs and wants. I don't shop as much, because there's no where to really go with places still closed. I don't need a new pair of shoes or article of clothing. Also, I have a 14-year old car. Nothing is wrong with it. Its been very reliable. I realize I don't need a new car for the sake of having a new car. I do need a new iPhone. I'm coming from a 6 Plus. Perhaps, you feel the same. Its an expensive phone. I wouldn't upgrade if I have an 11 like you.

Also, record HDR with Dolby Vision, edit right on the phone.

Not sure why you are dissapointed. Thank Apple for releasing an iPhone during this pandemic time. They did not have to do this. You should watch the commercial videos. It speaks for itself.

Not sure we need to thank Apple. They’re a corporation. Corporations exist to make a profit. To maintain sales they have to continue to release new products. They would release a product under any conditions humanly possible.

iPhones aren't meant to be updated yearly anymore, we are not in 2010.

Your iPhone 11 should be good for another 2 years.

3G? I see why you wouldn’t care for the 12 line up as for most people the 3G wast the worst phone Apple made and only plastic phone. In my opinion it was the ugliest and I’ve owned every iPhone except the 7 & 8.

I try to separate what the new iPhone offers from what I personally would like. Not all features appeal to everyone. I have friends who rarely take a photo so those upgrades don’t appeal to them. I think this release offers a lot of nice updates but that doesn’t mean all of those updates appeal to everyone. With a billion users it’s tough to please them all. Processor and camera updates look great to me. The 5G will be great at some point but for me it’s hard to get excited about that until the networks improve. The MagSafe Charging looks cool, but personally I plan to just use lightning. I’m going from an 11 Pro to the 12 Max. First time I’ve tried the larger screen.

Most of the time, we only get a marginal upgrade over the prior model. This one is no different. Still, this is a bigger deal than most of those S models. I don’t know why this would be the most disappointing other than it being the most recent.

Nope. Not here. I was at first, but after looking into the numbers more... it’s actually a valid upgrade. I fit a small demographic, I just got my 11 PRO MAX like 3 months ago. My X had its battery warp. So I got this and I’m loving it. Big screen. Camera is great battery is amazing. BUT when I turn in the wide angle, it gets blurry and grainy. I do not like my images to come out all bootleg looking.

my girlfriend and I do a lot of date nights. The fellas in here know the deal “ can you take a picture of me ? “ at least like 50x in the night. So for night time pictures, this makes al of us boyfriends lives a heck of a lot easier. The images will come out sharp and amazing, so the endless amounts of reshoots will dwindle !

cant wait to get mine. Still undecided between gold and blue.

i question the OP's authenticity; after owing no less than 9 iPhones they find the iPhone 12 uniquely sub optimal?

I'm just the opposite. This is the first time I have been really excited as I have been waiting for the 5 style redesign for a looong time.

If you don't upgrade your phone every year, which is mostly unnecessary, the upgrades feel more significant. On the other hand, so do the prices. X to 12 Pro.

5G is nice but what kind of speed performance do you need from your phone?
Sure, when you buy one every year, I guess it doesn't matter - - but for those of us who keep their iPhones for multi-years, that speed really comes in handy in the long run.

I'm upgrading from a X to a 12 Pro this year, 3 yrs on the X after 2yr cycle previously, and agree with many others on main point that phones last longer these years / improvements tend to be incremental, as it's a fairly mature platform.

However, I'll add that long ago, I got comfortable with the perspective that an iPhone is basically a computer now (and thus priced like a computer). What more, it's a computer that you use every day, everywhere, probably a lot more than you use your personal computer. Given that, I've mentally gotten comfortable that I'm basically buying a "new computer" every 2-3 years.

Now that I've pushed my cycle to 3 yrs, I plan to continue doing that for the foreseeable future. Hoping that 2-3 years from now, the next "step-function change" will come out (w/ removing the notch, 120Hz ProMotion being standard across-the-board, etc.)

You can always keep the phone you have. I'm sure your 11 will last for many years. If you don't like it then don't buy it. It's pretty simple.

I really hope this is sarcasm... If not, all hope is lost...

Lol “Thank Apple”. I swear i feel Apple hires people like you to comment on these sites. Apple should thank us! We are the consumers. We make their shares rise. Of course they will release a product during the pandemic. That’s what they do. It’s a for profit company! Lol.
