That's cool and all but my iPhone 7 Plus Black 128GB still shows processing after a week. Speed this **** up!!

Have you been monitoring http://www.istocknow.com? The other day I was able to snipe an iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black 256GB SIM free at my local Apple store. The shipments are sporadic, so you have to monitor stock daily. I saw it pop up as in stock at my local store and then I immediately jumped in my car to go get it. The new phone is sweet, it's a shame I have to put it in a case because it scratches easily.

Does anyone have any idea if Apple generally has one main hub they ship their computers from in the US? Or multiple? Just trying to get an idea how much traveling my 15" MBP is going to have to do (card charged a few days ago, preparing for shipment today, estimate still says Nov 17-25). I recently ordered some USB-C accessories from them that both shipped from Mt Juliet, TN, but I didn't know if that was the case for their computers as well. I'm hoping so, as I live in MO.

Uh, even if the SSD is not soldered you won't find a PC equivalent because the one in the new MBP is waaaaaaay beyond what they are putting in PC laptops.

I ordered the 15" MBP maxed out and I think the new MBP's are very, very good.

But what you write is not true - in most PC Laptops you can put an equivalent SSD - I put (in June 2016) a Samsund ssd SM 961 1TB (3520 read, 1850 write) into my Dell XPS 15/ Precision 5510 thats equivalent to Apples SSD's

I don't live near an Apple Store to try one of these in person. In the meantime, If I want to touch something magical, I'll pet the neighbor's cat next time I visit.

My order for a 13-inch with touch bar just shifted to "Preparing for Shipment" In the last hour or so. It was custom configured, also.

I can't wait. And I thought my 2012 15" MBP with i7 quad and 16gb memory, 1TB SSD was fast. With the SSD I installed it boots in under 10 seconds. Here is my test with the current SSD. Can't wait to get mine with the faster SSD and memory.

Tried one of the non-Emoji bar 13" ones in-office today. It's a thing of beauty, it really is. Only the 256 model and yet the SSD speeds are ludicrous too.

While the PC angle is probably true, third party sources like OWC will likely come out with SSD upgrades for the MBP in < 6 months. For those of us with 1TB BTO, I anticipate 1.5TB and 2TB options from OWC. If the past is any guide, OWC could also offer a small USB-C powered case to house the SSD taken out of the MBP for use as an external drive.

Do you really think apple SHOULD allow users to upgrade machine?

Corrected your question. Consumers have every right to do anything to their machine, as does Apple in the engineering and design. Don't like it, hackintosh or get used to windows 10 (or linux). Can't have everything in the world you want.
Actually you didn't correct my question. The person was wondering whether Apple will allow us to upgrade the machine (99% possibility they won't based on history). Do I think apple should allow consumers to upgrade? Absolutely but as we know, they'd rather make profits than allow consumers to save money and as you said, if you don't like it, get a different machine.

I believe they come in to Louisville KY

I've taken a week to reflect calmly on the new 15" rMBP. That is why I will be spending €200 or a little less on a new Hard Drive and full service of my ageing 2011 Windows 7 laptop.

In twelve to fifteen months time I will THEN buy with confidence the real deal 15" rMBP after saving a little more towards it. :)

My 13" MBPro was custom-configured (1TB hard drive and top processor) changed to "preparing for shipping" about an hour ago.

Though I cannot find that specific configuration on the Canadian DELL website (I'll come back to that) I see they are selling the what might be the Samsung SM951 (Dell doesn't specify OEMs so it is conjecture) with half that speed and half the storage for $1310 Canadian whereas the 2TB full speed SSD Apple price is $1440. Guess that's the Dell Tax everyone is talking about because the Apple Tax is looking pretty sweet.

Though the SM 961 1TB (no 2TB that I could find) is rated at a maximum 3200MB/s sequential performance (I have found nothing yet showing your optimistic numbers) I cannot find that the Dell XPS 15 / Precision 5510 can actually take advantage of this speed; what is the drive bus in that laptop? Please provide a link that shows this computer has a PCIe 3 fully capable bus or better yet a benchmark from your laptop.

Meanwhile, I will happily stand by my statement that PC laptops do not yet ship with equivalent drives.

Could happen; I am a huge fan of OWC as they help me keep computers in action well past their best-before date. In the first 20 hours the speculation was that the SSD would be soldered in the new MBP so I went all in. I guess we should know for sure in the next week.

I refreshed the apple site and ordered as soon as it arrived on the site: I got this date:
Before: Ships: 2-3 weeks Delivers 11 Nov - 18 Nov by Ekspresslevering

Now they just changed it, without even emailing me about it? Pls apple?
after: Ships: 2-3 weeks Delivers 18 Nov - 25 Nov by Ekspresslevering

what the ****? Why do they not notify me?!

No. It shows that the current machines had 2-4 year old processors and therefore many more individuals with outdated machines were in line. I'll buy one. I like the Apple OS and build quality. But, this up date is so long in coming, there are logically more people in line. That's why there are more preorders.

No one knows whether or not these are "outstanding." In fact, many say there are too many compromises being made in the name of thinness (lack of Pro level ports) and profit (taking away the extention of the charging cord and selling it as an add on for one example). Take a look at the MacBook Pro forum if you don't believe me. There are more complaints than for any other launch.
Last year's "update" was a long time coming, but why did nobody buy that laptop...? Surely people were in line last year too.

my 13" with upgraded ram is preparing for shipment as well. and i ordered via education store...like others have mentioned, i imagine the SSD might be upgradeable b/c isn't it non-soldered on the non-touch 13"? regardless, i enjoyed playing with the non-touch version at the apple store and was pleasantly surprised by how small it really is...
