wow for the picture quality i really do see the difference, its so clear, even my 5MP camera doesnt get that quality, can't wait to upgrade in August...

I kinda thought it looked particularly bad, but then I tried taking a photo with my iPhone 3G of a closeup box and it came out pretty blurred.

arn

Is that using the 2.2.x firmware or new 3.0 firmware? The new software clears up a considerable amount of blur (according to my testing) even on the iPhone 3G.

Seriously now, have we really resorted to taking video footage of a box and posting it online? Do people really masturbate to this much to this stuff? I'm just saying...

well, you're on the macrumors forums too, you tell us?

Looks good

Looks good. I can't wait to start flooding YouTube with irrelevant videos I can't even get my friends to watch.

I predict this is going to cause the YouTube servers to virtually burst with billions of videos getting an average of 0 hits a day. Wouldn't be surprised if they implement some new kind of compression or down conversion for unpopular videos.

Check out his other video, it shows much more stuff:

Also, with the addition of music, it makes me wonder if the video editing allows you to mix in a song from your iPod? That would be hot.

I like Pink Floyd, but I wish he would have chosen a different song, I just felt depressed while watching it. : ) Maybe some Katrina and the Waves would have been better.

EDIT: Never mind, I see he edited the movie with iMovie...

I got an idea for all the people who are going crazy about the video feature of the iPhone...

GO OUT AND BUY A CAMERA!

You all seem to forget that first and foremost, this device makes phone calls, even if Apple thinks it's a gaming device.

I saw someone's signature on here once said something to the effect of: "People who buy a phone based on the megapixel count are stupid."

In the end, don't get me wrong, I have an iPhone 3G and I enjoy all the added features it has. I do think it's cool and all, but a lot of people are putting way too much stock into the video feature. I'm waiting for the next iPhone because I'm not spending extra money ("early upgrade fee") for the slight upgrades, IMO. I can upgrade in January and I'll wait until June at that point.

The 2nd video is clearly a different aspect ratio. It looks like it's 16:9, and the 3GS is "only" capable of 640x480 (4:3 aspect ratio).

I call fake on that 2nd one. Unless the person who took the video trimmed the top and bottom to make it 16:9.

On a more important note, why is it still Wednesday?? :p

Just like a gun, the best camera is the one you have on you. I have a camera but I find that when I actually want to take a picture, I don't have it with me. I do have my iPhone. So, a better camera is always welcome.

that would be so redic cool.

none i hope

I wonder what the recording limit will be (per recording) in terms of video length.

I expect it to be limited only by the available storage. I haven't seen a point and shoot that had video recording length restrictions in years.

My 1st Gen takes terrible pictures

The pictures off of my 1st gen iPhone are terrible at best. No clarity and there is a pretty good haze around everything. Now, it is scuffed a tad, but still, its gawd-awful. When my 3GS comes in, I can't wait to take comparison pictures just to really see how much better it is.

I wont be using this thing to edit photos or anything, but it would be nice to have a camera that is at least decent enough that I can send a pic to someone else.

AHHHH! I cannot wait to get my 3G S, I love the new camera and video!

This will be perfect for my new Xtube videos. I got tired of using my 3G jailbroken to do videos...quality wasn't as good. :D J/K! LOL!
