I don’t know, perhaps the Mac Pro should be on this list as it’s 2 years and 2months since release.
Mac Pro’s typically don’t get updated every 2 years. Its more like they are examples of when Apple finally sees the need to replace them.

  • Aug 2006 introduced the 1st gen dual G5 water cooled large chassis. But they did update the config a few times.
  • December 2013 brought the 2nd gen aluminum cylinder design which wasn't real updated that much.
  • December 2019 brought the 3rd gen with the snazzy stainless steel appearance.
It's expected that late this year Apple will release a redesigned quad M1 Max design Mac Pro is about all we know.

I'm assuming the iPod Touch is "dead" now. Wasn't it just mostly for kids for parents that didn't want them to have a phone? Those kids now get their parents/older siblings' iPhone hand-me-downs with no sim.

This seems to be the case with the Mac Pro. Isn't their appeal is that they are easily upgradable by the usesr?

A good article on that

The time is quickly arriving when for Apple will need to seriously revisit the Mac Pro to ensure it still stands up as well as it did in 2019. Apple Silicon chips are coming to the Mac Pro at some point (with a colossal 32-core variant likely heading the Mac Pro’s way), but it will need more than that to keep it relevant for the next decade. Let’s hope Apple is on the case.

Another article linked had this paragraph
Not every Mac is going to move across to Apple Silicon straight away, though. Apple said in 2020 that the transition period would take a couple years, and the next update of the Mac Pro is expected to stick to Intel for now. That would make it the only Mac not yet running on Apple Silicon, though, and it is only a matter of time until it too makes the switch.
Time will tell if Apple can provide any form of the same modularity after a configured AS model is released? :)

We would probably buy a new magic mouse if the charging port were on the backside so you could simply leave it plugged in - for all those times bluetooth isn't working :/ It's why I got a trackpad 2 and have a wired keyboard.

I think they would have to redo the shape of the mouse in order to support wired use. There really isn't enough of a back lip for a lightning or USB-C port and connector while still clearing the desk surface.

To support a back port, they likely would likely bundle their own specialty port and cable - that way it would be used with a cable with the right durability and flexibility (vs say a stiff braided lightning cable).

Given the battery lasts weeks under heavy usage, I would be 0% motivated to buy a new mouse based on wired usage. I'd be looking at whatever new shape and features it had, and whether it charged with common cables, as well as if it supported a faster charging option in general.

Although I joked about Qi charging, I wouldn't be against such a thing either. Having my phone charger double as my mouse charger when I get up from my desk would likely save me the one surprise low battery event I get a month ;-)

Funny enough I was just thinking about an iPod touch again. Strictly as a modern-day music player. After all the stuff with Joe Rogan and Spotify, it got me thinking not so much about canceling Spotify, but that to support local and smaller artists I should be buying more music from them directly and listening to it that way. Spotify‘s discovery feature is well worth it to me, and of course having music on the go no matter what. Still, actually owning a copy of the stuff that I listen to the most does have a lot of benefits, especially if the device still can use AirPods and wireless Bluetooth speakers. I think I’ll wait till the spring event, or right before they cancel it, and then order one so that I have the maximum amount of time with AppleCare LOL.
Apple Music plays a significant role in my music discovery regiment. When I find an album (or band) I like, I'll go to that band's site and buy their album on vinyl (assuming they have vinyl), check out their tour dates, etc. It's the only physical media I buy now. The rest, I stream.

While I'm here - I would love to see Music get way better liner note options: producer, recording studio and any other liner notes you might find on their album. Would help facilitate an even deeper connection to the music/band. Surprised that script hasn't been written yet. I'm not smart and that seems implementable.

I have the Apple Pencil 2 and I... don't really know how they could make it any better ? They fixed all the "problems" of the 1st gen, although 1st gen was already very good.
I am wondering how long the battery will last. Prepare to buy a pencil every 3-4years. Expensive pencil.

Add Find My support for the Apple Pencil.

My last Ipod Touch was 5th gen. I've been holding out for a iPod Touch that would have a larger screen (4.7" to 5.8"), but it never came to be. I just gave up on that after the IpT7 announcement. Seems nice for others to have a small, 4" screen, so won't complain beyond that. If I want music, I'll break out the iPod Classic (I like having the physical scroll wheel, and lack of internet isn't an issue since some areas I drive through don't have connection anyways). For the same amount of money, I ended up getting a 9th gen iPad. Bigger screen, better internals, better all around.

The Magic Mouse has to be one of the most monumentally poor design decisions I've ever seen. I tried one once for a month and hated it so switched to a Logitech MX. Being unable to charge and use it at the same time is ridiculous and should never have gotten past the design stage.

Definitely due for a usability update.

The Apple Pencil 2 is pretty much perfect, I don't know what they would change with it.

Looking forward to high end M1 Mini's. They could make for some great servers.

Also, improved battery life would be nice in 2022. Average wireless Logitech mouse battery lasts months between charges.
Yes, and yet Logitech has still not deigned updating the Options software for M1 Macs so us Logitech customers can't use the fancy buttons on our MX3 and our Macs mistake the Command key for the Options key on MX Keys. Apple could totally own that market...

Been wanting to buy an iPod just to have. The (presummably) last 4-inch iOS device that's currently supported. Makes me wish they could've made a 4-inch iPhone SE with an A10 upgrade as well.

I'm getting the battery replaced in my iPod Classic for $50.
Apple never should have discontinued them, IMO. The Touch is more annoying to use while searching for music and if the sound quality isn't better I'm not spending $200 on it

iPod seems to be enduring a long death ... was a great product but doesn't seem to be attractive enough anymore to continue ...
If Apple brought back the Classic and the Nano I bet they would sell millions

They would be sitting on a gold mine.

After the monumental failure of the Lossless/Hi Res launch, I never truly realized how much Apple Music SUCKS as a standalone music player. Then I found out that iPhones can only handle one audio stream at the time meaning I can’t use other apps without getting my music paused every second, i just gave up, I can’t Listen to music and use my iphone anymore. I too considered buying an iPod touch 7th gen and seeing the insane mods for iPod classics makes me wish for Apple to update the classic, I mean laugh all you want but the Sony Walkman brand is strong and putting out hi-res music players. I am still holding out for Apple to surprise me but i keep getting let down at every apple conference as of recently haha

Magic Mouse might not be getting an update any time soon. Like the new colours of the mouse sold along with 24" iMac. Wish Apple makes it available to buy.

Build an air-tag equivalent into it.

We've misplaced one twice and it's taken hours to find.
