Apple in Ireland

Wow, what an ignorant comment.

And technically, the island of Ireland has an Apple store, there is one in Belfast.

Nothing ignorant about that comment about the Irish economy. The writer is referring to the Republic of Ireland.

So why are these luxury items, because one cannot argue those companies are not as such, selling so well? We're in a recession (or depression, depending on who you ask) we got debt out the rear, people are losing their houses, losing their jobs, yet still want those goodies.

Aaaamazing.

It's all about the demographics. There's still lots of us that can easily afford Apple products, high end cars and other discretionary purchases.

Conversely we read posts on this forum where users talk about having to sell their current phone before they'll have the funds for the new one they want. It's pretty hard to get ahead when that type of mentality prevails.

I don't know.

I enjoy my apple products, no doubt. After all I'm posting here.

However, I don't understand why anyone would wait in line for the opening of an Apple Store. Don't these people have anything else to do? I can maybe understand waiting in line for a product launch, but for a store opening? Imagine if people put that much energy towards actually doing something for a cause?

Ohhh anchorage, why do you have to be 8 hours drive away?

Anyone at the Anchor-Town opening take any photos or videos? And if so...share plz?

Here are some.

1. Channel 2 News interviewing some people up the line from me.
2. Employees clapping inside.
3. Employees exited out the back and came around high-fiving us.
4. inside packed store.

David G your a straight up pimp, that looks like it was fun! I can't wait to visit it when i go down for the palmer fair!

Yes, it was extremely ignorant, and I know what he was talking about, it is a pity they didn't say it though.

There are plently of people with enough money to handle an Apple store in ROI, after all they have one in Northern Ireland, and it has been there for years, even when the economy in the Republic was (and some would say still is) in a much better shape than NI.

Still waiting for a South Africa store. Considering Cape town is the next Hollywood I think it is silly that there isn't a store in South Africa. South Africans actually have lots of expendable income to buy Apple products and right now they have to resort to crappy stores importing their own stock (legally??) for a huge markup. Johannesburg has some of the ritziest shopping malls I have ever seen and just scream out for an Apple Store.

Let's not pick on the Chinese. It's not like they're the only ones copying Apple Stores.

I kid!

In all seriousness, glad :apple: is bringing the customer love to more locations around the globe. They're feverishly opening, what, thirty-something in the next few weeks? You'd think they were going to be releasing something big soon. ;)

The new store in Murray UT is maybe 10 minutes from the existing store at the Gateway Mall. It's about 10 miles south, almost all on the I-15 freeway.

Mormons must love their Macs.

Thanks a million for that answer. If there is any truth to it, the lack of a danish Apple Store finally makes sense. Kind of.

Do you happen to know what "Tech Data" (or whoever) is using its exclusive distribution deal for? Are they earning money on Humac and Eplehusets stores?

No problem my friend. Yes, as I have been told, any Apple product sold in Denmark is warehoused just outside of Copenhagen and the sold via local distributors.

In general, it has been my experience that high tech product distribution in the EC is one part product merit, one part price and four parts political connections going back sometimes centuries.

Denmark in particular is one of the most complex places to sell due to the overlap of German, English and Scandinavian culture in the region. The local laws reflect the overlap with parliamentary and / or royal decrees sometimes determining market formation. At times, the most economic product or solution is not allowed to exist in the market due to sheer cultural inertia.

This is one thing the founding father's of the USA got rid of when rejecting the crown. Thus creating a fully open market with any royal connection or preference not enforceable.

If there is an Apple store in Belfast, then Dublin definitely deserves one. Then we can start on the jokes why there are not Apple stores in Kerry, but let's not go there for now. ;)

I sure do! haha I personally wish they would have put this store down in Utah Valley near BYU and UVU. Sure there are Authorized Resellers but they don't hold a match to a real Apple store. The trek from where I am to the Murray store is still 45 minutes...

Apple just opened a store to-day in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. This same city is the world headquarters of RIM. Having said that they will probably put one in Helsinki first, the headquarters of Nokia/Microsoft.
You have intimidate your competitors every now and again.

If you really want to intimidate the competitors, Apple can set up a public engineer field office hiring laid off RIM and Nokia engineer where they don't have to relocate. Microsoft did that down here in Silicon Valley but the density of high tech here, it was just another facet on the gem.

although its great that there are more of these stores that are typically located in beautiful areas and such a welcoming store.

I once got attacked by a mob of apple store employees asking me every 15 seconds if I needed help with anything. I really don't feel comfortable going to the apple store anymore, at least not as much as I used to.

Belfast only has an Apple store because it is in the UK.

Belfast only has an Apple store because it is in the UK.

Really? If that is the case, why doesn't every town in the UK have an Apple Store? Surely there are other justifications Apple makes before opening a store other than it being in the UK?

I'm from Florence (Italy) and I was at opening of the Apple Store I Gigli on Saturday.... My first apple store opening.... Wow! It was a great experience! And great Deal for Florence that is a very small city for American standard! Thank you Apple
