So, this is unrelated but I’ve been wanting Siri for video for years now. I mean, this is cool for your tv with Apple TV but if I’m out at bar or something and I want to know what movie’s playing, I could hold my camera up to the tv and Siri would recognize the video within a few seconds.

It seems Apple isn’t very interested in developing for tvOS, besides for their subscription services. They likely figure the devices are too low cost to justify major new developments. Consider that the current Apple TV’s chip is a variant of the M2, which can be had for $129.

I have. not updated my ATV in 3 years, they took away the wish list in movies and favorites in the updates I am lucky enough to have not updated and still have them. why does Apple keep taking away the best parts of their OS with all the updates?

Insight is great for me. I never know what’s going on in tv shows as I’m always searching where I know that actor from.

Missed the info, do these special features work with the HD Apple TV or does it have to be the 4K one? We have not upgraded to the 4K because we have a 1080 P TV which has 3-D. Personally I have been a fan of 3-D and I don’t want to upgrade to a TV that doesn’t have it. so we have just kept the HD Apple TV, which still works.

Do they still make 3d content? It’s great you enjoy it I just doesn’t feel like it’s been supported in the last 10 years

No, I don’t think that they do except I guess the latest avatar movie might’ve been in 3-D. But we have many 3-D Blu-rays that we still enjoy playing.

The library in the TV app is woeful for casual browsing of your purchases. And the inability to select specific seasons of a TV show is maddening for a show with hundreds of episodes.

These are updates I’d like to see soon.

My hope was that they change the tvOS 17 disaster a little bit but seems like they don't.
For me it's one of the most used drevices @home. I bought a lot of movies and tvOS 17 makes it harder to see them.
For example, a lot of movies have no iTunes extra. So they start directly and I have no overview about language, time .... Why do thy kill this info window.. or why do the y kill the wishlist? Why does the store save the last position, even when apple change the ranking of the movies? Why does siri don't understand simple things like "which actors play in the movie?" and a year ago she did (german language.. maybe its better in english but I'm unable to switch english siri)
But instead of improving the usability they come up with a feature which amazon already have. Does the guy who came up with all the "improvement" use an apple tv by hisself?

This is not exciting to me.

How about Apple overhauls the way you navigate Apple Music. It's so confusing how to get between different interfaces in the music player and once you accidentally leave that music player, you've got to to navigate through multiple different pages to get back. It's atrocious.

Wish they could just fix the stupid Apple Remote app built into the OS. Half the time it won’t find/connect to the Apple TV. (The physical remote no longer works, so need to use iPhone remote.) This is an older generation Apple TV. The new one connected to a different tv always connects. Worked perfect until iOS 17. Immediately broke the connection.

Per user Photos Library so the logged in user can see their own photos as well as those in the 'shared' library.

Apple needs to fix the audio sync when connected to an AVR via eARC. Very annoying. Some apps work and others are wildly out of sync, like Youtube. Not surprising that Tim Cook’s Apple would overlook such a basic function.

I loved my TiVo but it was becoming too unpredictable and I was uncertain about how long TiVo itself was going to last. I saved my cable TV package cost by going 100% Apple TV. Any enhancements are greatly appreciated.

Many with projectors squeeze the image and use anamorphic lenses to retire it to maximize resolution. They also often go constant height with a 2.35:1 ratio screen and mask the sides for narrower aspect ratios. This is for them.

My iPad 7 isn't compatible with the ATV FaceTime. Guess I need a new/used iPad.
iPad and ATV are the only 2 products from Apple I have.
Roku also has a feature to choose the size of the icons. Two choices. Volume leveling as well.
I've never considered a projector. HD and 4K TVs are 16:9.
We watch Turner Classic Movies a lot and there are bars top and bottom when a movie is Ultra Wide Screen.
That is the 21:9 ratio and a projector would be capable.
Movies have been in wide screen of some sort since about 1953.
It is still a situation where things work best with other Apple Products.
I can mirror my iPad to my Roku.

Many films are wider than 16:9, so movie buffs might have a wider projector or put an anamorphic projection lens on.
I really do hope the 21:9 feature works on 21:9 TVs.

I've been on a thread with amother member on another thread and he's optimistic.
