I wouldn’t consider myself part of the youth full crowd. LOL
I have several that I have built from searching on the web that are quite useful. Many of the examples that we see so far are very simple one or two action combinations. I have one that I’ve built based upon something I saw online. I tell Siri Heading to Work and she tells me what my ETA is, tells me what the weather is, tells me the first event on my calendar, opens Apple maps, and plays a pre-specified playlist.
I have a similar one for heading home, two other ones for taking off and landing when I’m traveling, and one for my workouts starting and finishing. I also have one for the first thing in the morning the tells me my schedule.
When I have time I want to dig deeper into what I can do because I believe there is a lot of potential in this app When it comes to automation. I feel like we’ve only started scratching the surface.
Also I think that some sort of short cuts class or instruction app would be awesome. All of the examples within the app are very basic and with Mentry, but you can literally build dozens of actions into a single shortcut.
While some here may find these shortcuts useful, I don't see any real use for them. It appears to be geared toward the younger user. A lot of the cited examples can be done manually a lot quicker than invoking the Siri shortcut, in my opinion.
[doublepost=1538534640][/doublepost]That’s why there is a gallery. I think the shortcuts are in their infancy. There are lost of people making good ones that will hopefully showing up in the gallery soon.
(They ones they have are rudimentary and can be done with sori via voice Simmons already)
Calculating tips, saving to gif, sure they are useful, but it's not the cutting edge AI evolution we need from Siri, Siri is stuck in the stone age unfortunately.
And most people won't know or care about setting up custom shortcuts from reddit, perhaps only 1% of iPhone users.
