So I'm confused;

why aren't the providers (like Fandango) becoming cards in the wallet? All i can do is download apps onto my iPhone.

What am I missing?

The dedicated apps will place 'their' content in the passbook for you. The idea behind passbook is a lot like Newsstand. The mags in newsstand are dedicated apps also, but are grouped into a single location for fast, easy access. That is what Passbook is for. It's a container for the stuff you used to have to enter each individual app to retrieve. Now it's all in one place for you to quickly get to it.

Once I change the date and can connect to the iTunes store...why aren't the providers (like Fandango) becoming cards in the wallet? All i can do is download apps onto my iPhone.

In the case of Fandango you have to buy a ticket (same as the airlines) before something shows up in Passbook. I am hoping that the Starbucks card will show up there however since it is used for purchasing (like in the keynote demo).

Add more apps to passbook?

I successfully added the Walgreens rewards card to my passbook, but now I can't figure out how to get back to the splash screen that'll take me to that section of the App store, even after doing the date-reset fix. Anyone know how to get back to the splash screen?

Thanks!

Still didn't work for me... Having the same issue, and I've also been reverted back to the old App Store but it's kept the new theme.

What a joke. I'm not setting my system date a year ahead to get Apple's fubar'd app to work properly.

I swear, Apple's QA testing team is seriously dropping the ball as of late... Their podcasting app, the wifi fiasco this morning, the inconsistently blue/black status bar at the top of the display, the sketchy AppStore revamp, Passbook, etc.

As of an update yesterday, the podcast app is actually quite solid. Option to only allow auto download over wifi was added to the settings section, iCloud syncs playback position between devices, playback can be ste to be from oldest to newest. Its a lot more responsive and nearly bug free.

Passbook requires adoption from companies, so the delay is really not in Apples hands here. Cooperation from them rarely happens on a deadline basis. Probably going to sit back and see if its worth their time.

The inconsistent status bar is actually a feature. It allows devs to recolor it to unify it with their apps instead of being only black or being disabled in the app. Devs program the app to set the color.

The revamped stores don't bug me that much, I use iTunes on my desktop to browse anyways.

The wifi and store connection issues were server related, and are fixed now. There's alot behind the scenes in this magical thing called the internet need time to update too ya know.

But the one difference between this and newsstand is that it is NOT and never was intended to be an App folder itself. It is a data folder. Normally, each app would require you to enter it for a code. That, or you'd have several codes spread out over emails and sms's. Passbook puts it all in one place, with passes and codes that can be dynamically updated automatically. I'm reading a lot of negative press that seems to stem from not understanding this fact.

User id's and passwords ?

From what I see, I'm suppose to come up with a used id, and password for each and every company? You've got to be kidding!!
How is that suppose to be convenient? No way will I be using this unless it's a 1 sign-in for ALL accounts.
This is really garbage as far as I see it.

Hard Reset

I tried several options for my iPhone 4. A hard reset worked. Press the home button and the power button until you see the apple skull on the phone. The reset will continue and I was good to go.

Forget iOS I haven't been able to update any of my apps from the Mac OSX app store for months. Apple's App store has told me they can't fix it and to check the support forums or call Applecare! Go figure :( The problem is that AppleIDs are being confused between .mac and .me ids that are aliases of each other but the app store considers the aliases as two different ids. To the store they are different. But if I sign in with .me it automatically converts .me to .mac and does show my apps but won't let me update them saying it's the wrong id that I bought them with. It use to work properly but until iCloud it's been screwed this way!

It's finally working

The date change did not work for me nor a hard reset. I cannot connect to iTunes in the Passbook app and i cannot download udpates for apps.

Passbook updates and installs apps

But, no luck connecting the iTunes store for other app updates. I'm just glad others are experiencing this same issue. Apple will get it fixed. I can wait.

I'm not having any luck with that fix, either. I hope there's a fix, soon.

The App Store button in Passbook works for me after trying the date fix, but when the app store app loads it just says "loading..." and never shows any passbook related stuff.

I tried the Time/Date trick without success. Oddly, I can connect to the Search, Updates, Charts (and Categories), and Genius sections of the iTunes Store, but I can only connect to the Featured area sporadically. When I attempt to connect to the iTunes Store via Passbook, I get the "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" message, but now when I dismiss the message, I'm able to connect.

I agree... what the hell is that about.

this didn't work for me.
And why should I have to do some crazy half ass action like that to get the app to work...

Com'on Apple!!!
You're a Billion dollar company and you can't get this right?
Maybe all the money is getting to your heads.
