Wow, this is great news. I'll have to try the update this evening when I'm back home. Now, to try and remember how I used to have my settings before this whole fiasco....

Still not getting any email notifications on my new S4 after the update. :(

Edit: I turned some mailboxes in my mail accounts off and back on and now it magically works. Hallelujah. :)

On the phone or watch? I’m getting no sound on the watch.

It’s not working for me after putting my settings back to what I *think* I used to have them on before all this started.

I thought I had them on mirror my iPhone within the AW settings, but now I’m going to try to change it to custom and turn haptics on for each email account. I don’t think I had this on in the past but I really don’t remember anymore.

Prior to watchOS 5, I always had to use Custom settings otherwise I would only get notifications on the watch for one of my mail accounts.

Now that you mention it, I think I too had it on Custom for some reason (can’t remember why).

Anyway, I just set it back to Custom and turned haptics on for each account individually and, so far, it seems as if it’s working again. I’m not going to celebrate just yet, but this is the first positive development in quite some time.

Fixed here, too! Gone back to my watch OS 4 settings and it's all working like it should :)

On my iPhone I've gone back to no lock screen notifications and no vibration for mail alerts.
On my watch (series 3) I'm using custom notifications for my two mail accounts with sound and haptic enabled.

It's finally behaving like it should.
Same here, WatchOS 5.1.2 fixed my notifications for mail!! Yay!

So far so good, so I think it's finally fixed

Would someone mind listing *exactly* how each mailbox needs to be configured notifications ways on both the iPhone and the Watch in order to get haptic notifications on the Watch please?

Like everyone else I had this working no issues prior to WatchOS5 then it stopped, fiddled and got them back but since applying 5.1.2 I've lost the notifications and nothing I try seems to bring them back.

It is really starting to annoy me!

thanks

Anyone please?

As you can probably tell I'm getting desperate !

Please see post #110

Sometimes just an un-pair and re-pair helps.

Must admit to some reluctance to the un-pair / re-pair route. Have had some bad experiences with that in the past where once done for the rest of that day none of my rings update. So now it is always the last resort and something to be carried out only once all my rings are closed for the day!

However, with restarting both the watch and the phone making no difference I tried disabling notifications for Mail and leaving overnight. Then one more restart of both watch and phone then re-enabling notifications for Mail and Bingo! it all started working again.

No idea what happened but can finally relax :)

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Well, damn.

I was only intermittently getting email alerts on my watch and figured I'd try the procedure in post 110 a few hours ago. Now I get NO email alerts on my phone - for the first time since I've had my Apple Watch S4 (about 2.5 months), I hear the alert go off on my phone instead, but nothing makes it to the watch (since I've had the S4, I've never heard the alert on my phone anymore, just the "ding" on my watch). Rebooted each multiple times, but no fix.

Alerts for SMS, reminders, etc. seem to be going only to the watch as per normal. But email is now FUBAR (in fact, while typing this, another email came in and alerted on the phone, while an SMS came in and pinged the watch). Perchance I should've left well enough alone.

I feel your pain, it is really frustrating when something that has been working quite happily just stops for no reason.

Some things to check (Some may not be necessary this is just what I have ended up with whilst trying to get working for me):

Settings | Sounds & Haptics - Make sure for 'New Mail' an alert tone and a Vibration are configured.

Settings | Notifications | Mail - For each account make sure Lock Screen, Notification Centre and Banners are selected.
Ensure a sound and a vibration are configured

In the  Watch app on the iPhone:

Notifications | Mail - 'Mirror my iPhone'

With everything configured like this, turn off notifications for Mail. Restart iPhone and  Watch and leave for 30-60 minutes before turning notifications back on for Mail.

It was this last bit that got things going again for me so hopefully will work for you too.

My Apple Watch email notifications stopped working again after I updated my iPhone 8Plus to iOS 12.2. I had this issue when iOS 12.0 came out and it eventually was fixed. This is getting frustrating that Apple can't get this right.
