and you just adding more proof to the point you should not be driving. You are going to kill some one or get yourself killed.

You have road rage problems. and you are a wreckless driver.

Road rage? When I do things like that I'm usually relaxed and listening to classical music.

On the other hand, preventing someone from passing (even if they're going twice the speed limit) on the passing lane just because you don't approve of their speed is road rage. Its called the passing lane for a reason; you are the crappy, bitter driver.

Wow. What a change this thread has taken.

To get back on track... I like to flash to warn people ahead. It serves two purposes: good karma and it makes people more aware of their driving.

Word to your mother (not you Zidane).

Oh I dont agree with what they do but you blasting you highbeams is consider road rage and leaving them on. It ticks people off.

I never said I agreed with how they do it. I think it stupid. Now if I am passing another car in the right lane and I going a few mph faster than the car I am passing I am not going to move over, or speed up for you. I goign to pass the car at the same speed I was going (normally 3-4mph faster than the car I am passing) then when I clear to a safe distance to move over I will.

I dont bother adjusting my driving for jackasses I just keep going at the pass I am going. Means for you that you have to drop from double the limit down to about the limit for me to pass, I not blocking you, I am not trying to block you. I just not going to bother speeding up a little extra to complete the pass for you for the most part I dont do that and when some driving like you do I even less likely to speed up a little. I just complete the pass at the rate I was going.

You need to slow down and drive safer. Drifting though an intersection is unsafe and you will get some killed. What it mroe than likely going to take it cool you off is wrapping you car around a tree and releizing how close to death you came. That what it took for my brother, he had is car a barrel role (roled twice in the wreck) and he walk away knowing that he should of been killed but came out with just a scratch. Really cooled him off. For me it took a few speeding tickets and having my saving wipe out.

As I said earily you should not be on the roads the way you drive and the cops need to impound you car and have you but thown in jail. I know in the state of texas most of you stunts they dont need to figure out what laws you broke. They have a very general one for a lot called Wreckless driving and a pretty good number of small things. For you speed in texas, you would get a good size speeding ticket, wreckless driving, a nice pair of hand cuffs and a free ride to the county jail. And then you will have to pay some more money because you car going to get towed to the impound lot because it can not be left on highway.

I was driving and saw a guy riding a bicycle on the other side of the road (coming my direction).

He pointed his finger up, making a large circular gesture.

I thought...WTF was that all about?

Then I saw a cop hiding in the bushes, and realized he was doing sirens :D

I always like to warn people, and appreciate it when they do the same - even if I am not speeding.

I've heard you can be ticketed for doing that, but I'd like to see that be attempted. I'm free to test my lights when and whever I feel like it. :D

Yeah I do that on smaller roads along with flashing my lights. I try to make it real apparent that, YES, THERE IS A COP AHEAD I'M NOT JUST SOME CRAZY GUY FLASHIN HIS LIGHTS AND WAVIN MY FINGER IN THE AIR!!!!

I just love stickin it to the man...

lol, I like that. :D

Yup, I've seen and done that as well. Usually if I flash my lights and the dorko driver flashes me back, I sigh and try doing the gesture... but then they just think I'm signaling that we're all nuts.

I do the same thing when I'm out shoplifting. If I see a store detective I flash my headtorch to let fellow criminals know.

So today I was driving from Louisville to Connersville IN (about an hour east of Indianapolis) to my parents house. And I see this pick up truck on I65 going the opposite direction flashing their head lights like crazy.

Now I have done this for a long time to be nice, but this is the first time I have seen other people do it..... what was he doing you say? Well, in about half a mile, there was a state cop, waiting for speeders.

This post, is to ask everyone to do the same that this truck and myself do every time we see a cop... wait until you get past them, then flash your lights like crazy to let people going the other way to slow down.

I was really thankful for that guy, cause I was doing about 79 or 80 (speed limit 70) and I cant afford any more tickets, cause I got 2 last year.

So thank you random truck, and lets please make this a trend.

I always try and do this too. Good post and story tho. Cheers for flashing!!

Come to texas if you want bad driving. Seriously the way huezo drives is exactly how Texas drives are. Especially the parents. All teenagers drive like wreckless maniacs. Well most in some way or another, but here in Texas if you aren't passing on the sholder, tailgating or driving with your brights on... well then I recken' you just ain't a Texan.

For example: It was this past mid may. I was driving to the grocery store when I came upon a school zone. 25 mph... Suddenly I'm almost run off the road by a GMC Yukon lifted. Who was it? Well from the quick glimpse I got she was mid 30's and blonde as can be. I'm assuming she was going around 40-45 mbp since most people were going around 30 and she was flying buy.

As for the headlight flashing for cops. I do when I see people just cruzing over the speed limit a little. If I see some small d*** in his F250 to compensate for not being a real cowboy then I let him get caught like the little d*** deserves.

On another note. Here in Texas I ask the question: Why do you need an f250 or an excursion?
The answer is always: Because I want to feel/be safe.

If you stop on by the weird thing you'll find is the ones driving horrible and making the roads unsafe are irronically the SUV/Pick Up drivers that have no reason for them.

(Please take note I think Trucks are great when needed like my father who is a farmer. All SUV/Truck mentions above are in regards to the texans living in the city, working in the city, and who in fact have never seen dirt on their car or infact seen a farm besides the National Geographic.

The worst drivers I've ever seen is in New Jersey. I've done 80 from NYC to Cheyenne and 10 across the south, and almost the entire length of 95. I've Driven around SF and LA. Nothing is worse than the drivers on the New Jersey turnpike.

Actually I take that back. Driving through Philly is worse because thats NJ drivers on PA roads.

you know out here in Texas a lot of us have invested in radar detectors  No need to worry about them coppers. The other great thing is I hardly see any cops on the road compared to when I lived in northern VA/DC. Thirdly I remember listening to a radio report saying that only 30% of drivers in the Dallas area actully obey traffic signs.

I have seen video cameras on a few interesections. but people still blow red lights and what not. I have done it too. Never been ticketed via cameras. I'm beginning to think no one is looking through them, or they are there for show :p

As to the headlights thing, my mom (such an example for us all) of all people taught me to at least turn on your headlights during the day when you see a cop poised to catch the speeders  I have flashed lights when I see those pesky motorcycle coppers hiding behind walls. They are few and far apart, so it makes them deadly to the habitual speeder (including myself :D )

HOly crap yeah those motorcycle cops are dreaded here!! right on man!

I have radar detector but I more like it becuase down here cops are required to have park lights on at night. So they can sit in the dark on the side of a road and you don't see them till its to late.

Has anyone had this problem: There are many major highways that go over other roads. So there is always that small section under the bipass where you get stuck at a red light. I've seen it happen 4 times in the last 2 years here in texas. In that small section you get stuck waiting for the red light. So the cop sits on the other side of the median waiting for you to get stuck, and then checks your registration and inspection stickers so they are not out dated.... So So cheap isn't it? I understand it but man you feel so powerless to big brother...

only one problem with you radar detector, It is worthless agaist lazer gun. Indepent test have time and time again shown that the lazer dector are worthless because by the time they go off you been clock. As for radar part for the most part they are good. But when it comes to Lazer they are only good to tell you that you have been clock and you will be seeing flashing lights in a min. (This is even the best on the market are worthless for getting anything but telling you that you been clock. The beam is just to narrow to be picked up.)

Minus I have seen Texas State troops getting pretty good at hiding. That is they will set there gun at low power and then hide on the other side of a hill. That effect cuts the range of the dector down to almost nouthing. I get a lv 1 warning going off every now and then with in the .5 miles. And it will max out at 3 out of 5 and that is when I am the car being clocked. and Really close to the cop. They turn them off when no cars are clearing the hill on when the cars come over. Quite a good way to nail the speeders. At least that what I see on I-20, TX-84 and 284 and some on I-45 but I also spot lazer dector being use by protal cars as well.

Just a word of warning to you. Dont think because you have a radar decetor you are able to speed. It helps cover you rear but if the cop is using a lazer (most biker cops) you are SOL because by the time you dector warns you, you are clocked.

Just though I warn you as a fellow Texas driver.

only once i was warned by a fellow curteous driver. he saved me from a HUGE speeding ticket. i was 16, just got my car (turbo supra). i would have DEFINITELY been written up for everything possible. i was 16 years old in a ridiculously fast and expensive car... excessively speeding.

thank god i knew what that meant, cuz like i said, i JUST got my car. my dad would have killed me. i now do it every time i see a speed trap, to keep those damn coppers with nothing better to do from giving dumb speeding tickets.

If your ever up between Allen and McKinney on Highway 75 there is a place called fairview. Its a town of 3000 and some people, but they make millions by sitting on their little strip of 75 and use a lazer. My Radar detector picked up a lazor once when I was following someone and they were infront of me... but otherwise yeah you are SOL.

To Dallas drivers: For the two & 1/2 years I have lived here, I have only seen one cop on the G.W. Parkway and he was speeding too along side with other cars... I have also noticed no one goes the speedlimit unless traffic is preventing. Am I just lucky in avoiding Cops?

I remember driving on 121 between Preston and Coit. (pretty much the boarder of Plano and Frisco) and I noticed a little copper tower on the side of the road. I was thinking wtf  What is this? Are they starting to deploy these now? If so that's uber gay. I ran by there again today and I didn't see it. But I have seen them elsewhere like on 75 near the GuitarCenter and that Nissan dealer.

Never happened to me. If that's true that is so F*ed up. But my registration is all good to go anyway.

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA that is SO true!!! Oh man I didn't notice that post before. Dude I second that post 100%. I drive an Expedition and have got rearended. Thankfully I only had bumper damage while the dude behind me totalled his truck. He slammed me after I hit the breaks fast cuz this old lady in front can't drive. He said he was going like 35 and didn't slow down when he hit me. I in turn rear-ended the lady in front. FUnny thing she jumps out yelling at me. I just waved and pointed behind me. Friggin SUV is a tank! (for the record, I walk to work and hardly drive it)

My parents flash the lights, and its always good to be warned by others. I think the speeding system is ridiculous anyway. It think in Australia we have a 3 km/h limit to how far over you can go. Now come on, most cars speedo's are out by 5 or so. I like New Zealands idea. I think their limit is something like 8km.

I was reading an interview the other day on the SMH website and a cop was saying that for the hand held speed guns, they let you off if you're within 10% of the speed limit. Discretionary measures or something I suppose. The ones I've met are not that nice though. I once got booked for "Not giving way (moving from one marked lane to another)" - no idea what that meant, seriously considered contesting it but couldn't be bothered.

Yeah, i do this all the time, and really appreciate it when other drivers do it too. There was a funny story that happened one time. Me and my wife were driving from Magnolia to El Dorado when i saw a cop on the side of the road around a turn. So after i passed him i started flashing my lights at everyone not thinking of anything else around me. I probably did this for about 3 or 4 miles as i saw on coming traffic. About the last few times i did it, the car in front of me pulled over. They were a good bit in front of me so i didn't think about it being because of me until i drove by them and he's staring at me looking confused. As soon as i pass him, he gets back on the road. I guess i might have over done it with the flashing that day, but i guess what i'm saying is KEEP FLASHING, BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!. :)
