I think its good. I'm sick of frivolous lawsuits. It's already stated that Apple had a repair program for this and took care of those affected.

I‘m sick of Apple selling iMacs with failing hard drives. Or MacBook Pros with failing discrete graphics. Or Mac Pros wits hardware issues. Or laptops with malfunctioning keyboards. Need I go on? Apple’s hardware quality has really plummeted over the last decade.

That effectively increases the warranty period. You can bet that Apple would make up for that with even higher prices.
Not really. Different aspects of a product fail all the time and they won’t trigger that recall unless it was a common enough issue that everyone was coming for repairs just on that part like this backlight issue or the butterfly keyboards.

They have a namesake repair program only for the 2016 13” ones, flexgate is happening atleast on the 2016 -2017 13” and 15” models. It’s definitely not anywhere close to good for a 2016 or a 2017 15” owner who’d paid 4500$ only for it to get bricked in 2 years.

Apple could solve these bad design problems two ways. It can actual try to make longer lasting products that put function and longevity over form. Or it can sell computers at a price so low that if someone gets a few good years out of it and it craps out, they will just grudgingly get another one and not resort to suing. They sue because the rip off level for an overpriced lemon is not something you should shrug off from a company that has enough resources to do better. Hopefully these new unupgradable unrepairable systems apple is making will cost less and last longer and these kinds of lawsuits will be a thing of the past.

What is wrong with this judge its clear the computer has a low quality build
Dell, Microsoft, HP, Lenovo and Razer make computers with "low quality build". Often the Windows laptops have plastic pieces that break off easily and screen hinges that break easily. Once the warranty runs out they are not obligated to continue to fix defects from "low quality build". Low quality build that lasts past the warranty is not legally actionable.

$4500?? Yeah right. The 13" models were affected. Where did you get that outrageous price? If it's not a U.S-based price you need to say so because that price makes no sense.
article said 13 and 15 inch, 15inch specced out can go up that much if not higher. in europe the VAT and tax makes it even higher.

Speccing out a machine is the choice of the consumer. That's the not the initial price of the machine. Furthermore Apple's 4 year repair program does not include the 15". VAT is not something to fault a company over. That fault lies on the country in question that creates the VAT.

Long time ago, I can purchase Apple products without Apple Care. My 2007 MacBook Pro 17 inch still runs fine today. Now AppleCare is essential to make sure they will last more than a years.
Thats what I love about Australian Consumer law. It wouldn't pass the sniff test & even without Applecare, Apple would be required to replace or fix,..no questions asked! If you are buying in good faith, then it should just work. Simple.

Nah, I’m pretty sure someone just bought a new M1 laptop and are, at this moment, talking with their lawyer to start a class action lawsuit based on the fact that the new systems no longer keeps their lap warm. As a result, they had to get an electric blanket, the blanket was faulty and burned their lap. Since they wouldn’t have the blanket if the Mac wasn’t cold during use, it’s obviously Apple’s fault.

It do hurt when you see a Trillion dollar company get away with a defect that is very obvious and many consumers are affected by this issue. Consumers who bought this expensive machine that couldn’t last longer than 2 years because you just open and close the lid many times (which is the basic functionality of a portable computer).

For those who have sided with Apple on this issue. Flexgate doesn’t only happen on 2016-17 models, it has already occurred on 2018-19-20 even the newer M1 models because Apple hasn’t changed the design from 2016.

Where I live it would not pass. Goods are required by law to last a "reasonable" amount of time, even if that means longer than warranty.
If companies are rquired to offer repairs afdter warranty for free they will simply estimate the repair costs and add them to the price of all machines to cover the anticipated costs; just as is done for what the estimated costs will be for warranty repairs. If you compare the price of a MBP in the EU vs the US, ex VAT, where are they cheaper?

Yes really. You think Apple is just going to eat the cost of these recalls, rare or not, and not pass it on to consumers?
