We've got some great news for you.
Your item will be ready for pickup on Sep 19.

My 6 plus 64 GB is ready for pick up tomorrow 9/19

I ordered thru apple app at 12:17 am 9/12

:D:D:D

Ohh you got an email already? Nice. Congrats on snagging a plus.

My pickup order still says "processing" and never changed to "ship to store". Maybe it will just skip that step and show ready for pick up.

It still says for pick up tomorrow, at least/

Since Foxconn needs people, why not offer jobs to iPhone buyers and the nuts who cannot wait until there is plenty of supply can make their own iPhone in the factory and take it home.
I bet there would be plenty of takers and Apple could charge them extra for this
"opportunity" to beat the crowd.

Come to think of it they could make phones for their friends to share the extra cost.

Brilliant idea. For an even more authentic experience, we could leak parts to Sonny Dickson and be hunted down by the Chinese authorities. If you decide to leak the parts yourself, grow out your fingernails and make sure the shots are kind of blurry.

Two years back, I was project manager on a project that involved delivering some server blades at one of our sites. The PM on the vendor (supplier) side I was dealing with used UPS ground as his carrier and decided to pay extra for a GPS tracking service. He said he could see the truck moving on the highway in realtime. That way, as per him, he could coordinate the exact time when the installer should show up on site to assist the UPS guy. I found that pretty funny but a bit silly too! Just pay extra for "morning delivery" and book your resource (the installer) so he shows up first thing in the morning. No need to track that trailer tuck with a GPS! lol

Mine's still in New Jersey... I'm not convinced I will actually get it tomorrow in Iowa.

You'd be surprised. It's overnight, so I would guess you'll see an update to the status by tomorrow morning. Don't forget to leave a signed note on your door if you want them to leave it when you're not home. ;)

No need, right?

I guess this wouldn't work and is wholly unnecessary if we are picking up our pre-ordered phones at the Apple Store, right?

Actually, the tracking info IS real time. Most if not all of it are done by ADS-B, which is real time.

BL.

It's real-time to Flight Aware, but they can add a delay for security reasons in the US:

The data displayed on FlightAware.com is typically 30 seconds delayed from real time. Some data in the US is five minutes delayed due to government regulation.

A dawn of new era...

For everyone who has ever been into trainspotting or planespotting - a new hobby arrives: the iPhone shipment spotting!

So now all I need is a BIG net, a plane bigger than a 747, and this software, and then I won't have to worry about shortages at the store.

Just found out which flight my iPhone is on. :D Can't wait! It should be touching down in a few hours. I'll keep watching the map like a hawk!

FlightAware is an awesome app. If you ever travel by air, I recommend installing it and using it next time. You can put in your airline and flight number, and it will tell you when it is scheduled to depart. Or, if you are picking up someone at the airport, you can see their scheduled arrival time.

But, while you are waiting at the airport for your plane, you can press the "track incoming flight" button and it will show you where your plane is at that moment (even if it is a different flight number). I've used this many times to predict that my incoming plane is going to arrive late, board late and depart late, long before the airline will admit it.

If you have in-flight WiFi, you can use it to track the progress of your own plane. I've confirmed that my own plane was in a racetrack "holding pattern" by looking at the track on the map.

Anyway, it's all public info and the tracking isn't actually real-time for security reasons.

Nope, it's real-time. I've tracked my own plane while I was on it, and confirmed turns in a holding pattern by looking at the radar track on the map.

Yes, this is taking things to a new level. But this is what makes it all the more fun! The great anticipation has become such a tradition to those of us who have done this for the past 7 years. I love it! And it's fun to see what new ways people discover to stalk our phones earlier and earlier every year.

This really puts a new perspective, to me anyway, just how crazy the actual logistics of launching a product as big as iPhone has become. Coordinating this so that they come all the way from China, and then simultaneously delivered all over the United States on the exact same day. Crazy!

I do the same thing. I fly weekly. It is delayed though. While the arrival/departure times are accurate the picture on the map is most certainly delayed. I've confirmed this by actually noticing landmarks on the ground that we were flying over about 5 minutes before flight aware showed we were. Further, I've refreshed it on my phone upon landing and seen we were still flying according to the map. Finally, I have even been able to pick up GPS signals indicating we were well ahead of where the map showed us. In the end it's close enough to real time but I'm guessing it's slightly off for some security reasons. Just because you were in a holding pattern and confirmed it doesn't mean it was 100% accurate....it could have been showing you your position from earlier in the holding pattern most likely.

Do all of you have tracking info that says its from China? Mine says it started in Nashville. I must have gotten the Honky Tonk version??

I'm with you..except mine started in Harrisburg, PA and is now in Louisville, KY. I'm in Columbus, OH. I kinda wish mine started in China as I can't get in on all the fun everyone else is having. :)
