I could see doing this for an organ replacement you're waiting on ...

Right on, good one. Tracking that kidney, important.

Very true. This would have been useful back in 1996, during TWA800. That was a LIFEGUARD flight, meaning that live organs were being carried on that flight as cargo (located on the flight deck) that recipients in Paris were waiting for.

Unfortunately, those organs never made it. But they could have tracked the flight to see what happened, up to last known transmitted destination.

You'd be surprised. It's overnight, so I would guess you'll see an update to the status by tomorrow morning. Don't forget to leave a signed note on your door if you want them to leave it when you're not home. ;)

You nailed it, out for delivery in my town this morning. I'm not sure if I want them to leave it - I've had something stolen off my porch once, and I'm still a little iffy. I really wanted to hold for pickup but it wouldn't let me do that :/

Same here. I even called FedEx to see if they could hold it (the facility is really close to me), but they can't with this kind of delivery, until one delivery attempt has been made. I decided to take my chances and have them leave it on my porch. Hopefully I get there before the evil kids next door see it. :D

Hmm... So we can track every move of an iPhone's travels, but can't seem to find a plane that's gone missing for days? Wow

Of course. because in the US, since we, the taxpayer basically own and subsidize the FAA, the flight data for US companies is public. Malaysia doesn't have such a setup.

That's certainly a factor, but the more significant reason is that there are no radar towers in the middle of the ocean.

Ordered my iPhone 6S 64GB Space Gray (Verizon) via Apple right when pre-orders went live. Still no shipping confirmation, but delivery date says 9/25. Still says "Preparing for Shipment". Found my order on UPS and it shows my phone in Pennsylvania... Its been sitting there for days. I better get it on time.. :/
