Windows should be shut off to anyone with dementia!
they purposely prey on the older people with horrible protection while louring them to unneeded scams.
they love taking advantage of scam elders who have no clue anymore.

Lenovo also needs to make better laptops of these fable minded people!
That's nothing special to windows. They all prey on the uneducated. Apple, Google, MS, etc.

What am I missing?

I did not see any discussions on old people and scammers in the flip/flop thread.

Anyways its not Windows fault and what do you propose Lenovo do for the fabled minded people?

Telephones too. I, personally, hold Alexander Graham Bell for the awful scourge of elder fraud and abuse across the world.

Elder-computing is rough.

We put computers in my mother's house with internet access. Her approach to computing was to wait until one of her kids to come over, and ask them to do what she wanted on the computer in front of her. She saved up the things she wanted done on the computer until someone visited.

She also fell for telephone and mail scams.

There are a lot of vectors for scammers to get to the elderly.

One thing would be to remove all their dumbass bloated apps that are supposedly there to "help".

I'm dealing with issues with iMessage, email, and facebook, and a couple her crossword puzzle apps. Its those apps that's been problematic lately as she'll get some sort of "ad" that says her account was compromised or something please click this link, blah blah blah

The issue, is she won't have anyting to do w/o those crossword apps. Facebook, and texting has been problematic in the past but again she uses those as well

Thanks for the replies,
shame the boat were are in is this big
'
she had that lock screen 1800-CALL MSN repeated voice messages for an hour or so
util I came over to check up on her.

the problem with elders from the 1940's is they were weened to trust any authority,
whereas I can't advise mom how to use a computer, be safe, never submit a credit card etc
since I am not bill gates or a tech dude from the legion, and still a "12 year old.'
meanwhile I designed websites, fixed computers for  and tech companies and know both platforms.
forget about giving mom health advice, we gave up on that.
so far five credit cards were wastefully used for a "monthly only" shipping fee of 29$,
no-launched norton virus, 12 big pens for 35$, 3 streaming series she won't watch, and a partridge on a pear tree!

the Lenovo is sitting in my place waiting for our family windows expert computer guy to look at this next week.

my problem is she does not know I have the laptop and might call the police,
or she just might forget she ever had one......or just stare were that was.

what a horrible brain rotting situation elder humans suffer nowadays.

It has nothing to do with windows. As mentioned before, every platform is the same. Marketing teams and fans will tell you otherwise.

To combat my parents getting into this trouble with their computer that they do their finances on, I got them two computers. One for mom to play her silly games on (malware beasts), and one that is only turned on to do their banking etc.
