Uummm,

You totally misread, and misunderstood my post. First, I told he him was living up the title of the thread as a friendly snarky type remark and I meant no disrespect, if you looked right below that post, you'd see that I too am guilty, so I'm not exhibiting some holier then thou type of attitude

I've done my fair share of flip flopping since I joined this forum in late 2019. I went from prebuilt Windows PC to Mac mini with eGPU to MacBook/eGPU to Lenovo Yoga/eGPU to self built Windows gaming PC. And now just a couple of weeks ago, I made MacBook Air my primary home computer with my Windows PC dedicated to gaming.

I like a mixed environment. Mac, Windows, iphone, ipad. Gives me flexibility to use the tools for the use case at hand. One thing you will not find in our mixed use case is android though.

I'm holding on to my Pixel for anything I need from Android and for app development. But yeah, I'll have multiple platforms going forward as long as they serve a purpose.

I gave up on iPhones long time ago. Tried to use iPhone 12 for a week, gave up after just 3 days. Too limited for me, iPhone doesn't even have autocorrect and auto suggestions for my native language. Android has that since 2012 (!!!). I'm a happy camper at OnePlus camp for a few years now. My phone is rooted and de-googled.

Same here, when I upgraded my wife's iPhone XR, I tested it out to see if I can live with it.
It was a no go. Far too limited.
I am back to my Galaxy Note 10+ (i find the stylus very useful) and I'm a happy camper.

I've owned Note 10+ for 1-2 months. I agree, stylus is great, and I do miss it.
But what I didn't like is bunch of bloatware (facebook... ughh), double apps, and speed. But stylus is really awesome and useful!

I have Macs and PCs. Right tool for the right job. Just built my daughter a Ryzen 5 / 1660Ti desktop to supplement her MacBook Air. Will probably replace the 1660Ti with a 3060 once you can actually buy them for true retail prices.

In about 5 years time. Ha ha.

I checked the prices on 1030s and 1050s yesterday and they are painful. I really wouldn't like to price out a 1660 right now. Fortunately I have a 1030 and 1050 which suffice but I would like something a bit better. That's one area where Apple Silicon will have an advantage. I keep hearing that things will get better but that's not happening.

I was going to build a new workstation for my creative work. No video cards were available and were bonkers prices when they were in stock. I decided to just buy a Dell XPS and mod that the way I want. I got a RTX 2070 in that box with an 11th Gen i7, and some other goodies.

Fortunately I had the 1660Ti sitting in a closet from a previous machine upgrade.

I had money set aside for a RTX 3080 for weeks before it launched. Months after and I still haven't been able to get one. I gave up and bought a PS5. Still not easy to get, but definitely easier than a PC GPU. My PC already had an RTX 2080 Super so I'll be fine.

I have an RTX2070S only as I found it at a good price at the time. Yet to come across anything it has not handled. I am sure the 30xx are an improvement, just not sure whether that improvement is being utilised ergo really necessary.

A bit like the new iPad with an M1 chip and 8/16 GB Ram. Nice, but does it bring anything beneficial to daily use? No.

I've bought a PC just a week ago. A complete PC, prebuilt from Alzashop.com
I've payed it 1750 euros (without tax, on company name). It came with RTX 3070. I've sold that GPU for 1300 euros. So my entire PC is just 450 euros. I already have a nice GPU, 5700XT. And I want an AMD GPU because it plays a lot nicer with Linux.

Prices for GPU are completely nuts at the moment. After I listed 3070 on a local website, in about 30minutes I've got 3-4 phone calls. First guy that called came under 2 hours after listing it, tested it out, and purchased it. I simply couldn't believe my eyes.

If on a budget or can't find dGPU I'd be happy with AMD 5600G or 5700G APU with iGPU then add a dGPU down the road when availability improves. Only issue is the CPU is currently available through OEM only. AMD needs to make it available to the retail market.

Update: AMD announced 5600G and 5700G for retail market.

I noticed that on Amazon, really would be cheaper in some cases to buy an entire system that would still be less than the cost of the GPU at today's prices. Nuts.

I'd certainly rather pay $2000 for a prebuilt PC with a RTX 3080 than pay $2000 for just a RTX 3080 from a scalper on eBay.
That's what I did. I got an RTX2070 included in my build and paid 2200 cdn for the entire machine with a new ultrasharp monitor. I thought it was a good deal after pricing an older parts bin system.

Am sitting here laughing at @LiE_ because he is me, just that he has publicly listed all his transactions.
I on the other hand am not saying a word

Now, I am currently using just a Windows 10 desktop, that I built last year (Ryzen 7, ASUS B550-f, Lian Li, BeQuiet and Thermaltake fans), and now fancy an M1 device.

Not really a major fan of laptops (as an IT person, I get sick of working on them), so the question is, Mac Mini or iMac 24". Not looking to spend too much, so, I think I have my answer there. However, something tells me, a few changes/refunds will happen in the process of obtaining an M1.

The struggles of being satisfied, sometimes
