My 6900 XT couldn't maintain 120fps on God of War at 3440x1440 high/max settings :( Though for that type of game it doesn't really need to. I think I even dropped settings for more frames.

Recently my ultrawide died, so I'm down to a single 27" 1440p screen, surprisingly I don't miss the UW from a non productive standpoint. It's helping me see if I can downscale to a 14/16" MBP in the future. Thinking of loosing the desk, setting up shop on the living room couch, on a coffee table and with a Sony A95K in front.

I rarely game now and the games I do manage to hold interest on are single player story games, so I don't mind consoles for that (though would miss mods). Bad PC ports are another reason and discussion..

argh, 589 Watt estimated? A 24” iMac has a 150 Watt power supply. And thats including screen, camera and speakers.

3080 is overkill and more for 4K gaming. You don't need more than ~100W 3060/3070 laptop to match 200W+ Mac Studio 64GPU gaming performance.

With my adaptation to my MacBook Pro at work, I just connected my AirPods (first gen), for Webex calls.
Ah, priceless...!

Now to see how long/many hours I can use them during the day at work.

Went together without much fuss. Routing the GPU power is less than ideal but the case has the PSU in the top.

Just waiting for my 4k 144hz screen to come tomorrow.

I really do like your builds. I also consider building a gaming pc (last time I did was in 2011). Sold it when I moved out of my parents house. Since then I use MacBooks and Windows laptops (flip-flopping). For gaming PS5 and XSX didn't do it for me. Just like to do everything with one machine at a desk: work, gaming, browsing, watching videos, photo editing, etc.

There’s just something about playing on a 144hz monitor with responsive keyboard and mouse that makes gaming on a controller feel meh.

Fractal Design Torrent case? How does the front to back airflow work out? Seems better than bottom up airflow that causes the GPU to precook the CPU.

Yep Torrent compact. I built it Thursday and went on holiday Saturday so haven’t had time to test it out. Theoretically it should be pretty good!

I use both. Because I need to use both to cross test apps and stuff. :D

Dual booting both on PC (yeah, it's Hackintosh). But I am waiting for M2 Pro/Ultra Macs to get one, so this PC will probably stay as a Windows machine.

Since Windows will probably never release version that can boot on bare metal Macs, I will probably always have one Windows PC.

Don't ask me about Parallels. I do not like it.

BTW, I am liking the 11. Been a while since I said that about any version of Windows.

I'm the opposite now, that I spend ~50 hours a week between office and home working at a desk. Really kills my desire to sit at a PC and play games. Doesn't help that I'm a compulsive online player. Results in me resenting my PC build, no matter how nice it is. Usually I get fed up on the weekend and end up just sitting on the couch with the Switch.😅

Well, this is my final flip-flop. Finally did it. Have gone full PC/Android again. Bought an S22 on Saturday; my DIY rig was back on desk later that afternoon. My X1 Carbon is also back in use. M1 MBP, homepods, iPhones, iPads, the whole lot on eBay.

Ultimately, I felt that I was being hamstrung residing in the Apple ecosystem. I still do love the hardware and the software, but I feel so much more at home on my PC, windows/linux laptops and on android. Been an awesome (and expensive) experiment since 2014 when I got my first MBA (then first retina iMac, iPhone 6 etc etc), but, ultimately, it's just not for me.

well, if it's final, it can't be both, a flip AND a flop, so it's just the latter (no pun intended, or is it...?)
Haha! Nah just meant, this is it. No more switching sides etc. Was never sure which is the flip (is it PC or Mac???) or is the PC or Mac the flop?

Good pick up, though 🤣

i just had to 🤓

no harm meant though, the grass is green on the Windows side too 👍
Nah all good :)

I've historically been Windows (well Commodore and Amiga before that) for most of my computing time. Definitely don't hate Apple or anything, it's just not for me :)

Welcome back. I hope this is my final switch too. I also feel much more at home on Windows/custom rig ever since I built my first PC in 2004.

My Pixel 6a arrives tomorrow then I’ll be out of Apple.

Am very close to going all in on macOS.
Just had a VM created for a few applications that I cannot run/install on macOS.

Additionally, with my Apple Watch now being able to unlock both my personal Mac Mini M1 and work MBP, the switch back to Windows could be difficult. LOL - yes, getting a little lazy with manually entering passwords.

Still rolling with macOS at home and work. Now seriously wondering if I should start to use Safari, versus Google Chrome.

Thoughts...

Ditching my 5K iMac in favor of a new M2 Air changed things on my desk and there's no longer room enough for a separate 27" monitor. Upgraded to a 4K one (Dell S2721QS) and now that I'm back into gaming after giving it up for a spell, I've found it does a solid job pulling double duty (though not enough to convince me to give up MacOS for my daily needs)
