FlyCast Challenges Satellite Radio with iPhone App

I got it to load, then play something off "80's". Tried another station and got that same connection error. Seems a little buggy to me but I'll keep it around and watch for updates.

well this is basically the App version of Flytunes.

Flytunes works great so I really don't see the need for an App...
but I guess that's the only way to get noticed these days.
yawn.

How do you do the ipod screen capture?

hit the home button and the sleep button at the same time a flash will appear on the screen the photo will now be on your iphone/touch.
i then email the photo to myself and you can then drag it on the desktop then upload to MR.
quicker than syncing if its just for one photo!!!!

Better than Pandora cuz this is in stereo on 3G/Wifi. I hope they will release an update to run in the background so u can use other apps.

Thanks, that's very cool!

Works great!!

Very cool software. I think I'm going to spend a great deal of the weekend listening to the huge variety of content.

These aps (especially the free ones) make my iPhone seem better and better every day.

I love this device:)

The browser (a WebKit by any other name?) is a good idea. I like to surf while ignoring my friends on the phone, and while listening to my own music. Surfing while listening to other audio makes good sense.

The article says that this new App is free to download, but is the music also free?

When App Store first came out, I heard everyone talking about an App for XM/Sirius. Did they ever make an App and is it still on the App Store?

Total (cr)App...
I got the thing to load once, didn't see anything special... then it crashed on me. I also have Tuner which I found to be far better.

And guess what? After it crashed, it screwed up my iPhone and I can no longer run any more 3rd party apps! Soft reset does nothing. Looks like I'm gonna have to restore my phone to get it working again - but I might as well wait until 2.1 is released on Friday.

Getting tired of this... not sure how some of these very buggy apps are making it to the AppStore....

From PCWorld:
FlyTunes, Now FlyCast, Comes to IPhone
http://www.pcworld.com/article/150959/.html?tk=rss_news

"FlyCast, the mobile broadcast network formerly known as FlyTunes, is now available on the iPhone as a native app, available for download from the App Store. It's free to download and use.

FlyCast lets you tune in to thousands of Shoutcast Internet radio stations. FlyCast offers more than 1,000 digital channels for every genre of music, terrestrial radio, weather, talk and traffic.

Features of the FlyCast Mobile app for the iPhone include the ability to pause live broadcast on all stations, song skipping on specific webcasts and "StreamAhead," a feature that lets you continue to listen to a station even during extended periods without a connection. "Top of the Hour" lets latecomers listen to the beginning of talk radio shows.

FlyCast Mobile also includes an embedded Web browser, background play and battery saver modes, a connection speed identifier, radio pre-sets, search capabilities, and a connection to the iTunes Store to purchase songs you've heard that you like."

Yea .. all of the content is FREE!!

Cheers.

Wow! This is a great app. I used the flytunes web app, but I think this is a MAJOR improvement. I like the 'background' option so I can check email & the web browser is pretty cool. Haven't tried the 'search' options yet. I'm hoping it gives me a bit more variety than Pandora.

Isn't AOL radio exclusively tied to CBS for stations? I do use AOL radio and enjoy the app, but if this opens up other networks or content I'm all for it.
I don't know about the AOL Radio app for iPhone (I don't have an iPhone), but the Web version of AOL Radio has many, many proprietary music channels. (I'd be surprised if they're not available for the iPhone.)

I want to listen to Dr Laura lol

I like this app. However, I wish it had tagging and the ability to email the tagging information, so that if there is a song I like I don't have to write it down on a piece of paper.

Go to the "music" category and scroll down a little. It's there. I played around with it a bit and I really like it. I knew it was only a matter of time before they came out with something like this.

DJE

Yah, I had to find it that way too... I don't understand why the "App Store" in the phone can't find it???

Anyways it works great under 3G/wifi :)

can't seem to get it

When I open either of the two appstore links in the post, I get an invalid address message
And when i search for flycast nothing comes up...
