Apple need a foldable CEO so he can be stuffed into a school locker and forgotten. Folding is a gimmick and it's really sad Apple have gambled so much on an inconsequential feature. What use cases are impossible today that are unlocked by using a foldable phone? ZERO.

If only 3.3% of Apple users are interested in this device, it may not stay around long & go like the iPhone mini… 😉
Yeah just say you don’t want one because this will be sold out day 1. I will be in line too. Lol I really want the 2nd generation Version.

I always feel a great relief whenever Apple comes out with a new expensive device that I have absolutely no urge to buy.

My brother who probably has a net worth of 50 mil lugs around an iPhone 7 Pro Max with a shattered screen and missing home button, I wish I had his self control.

This product should be released this year, not next. Apple are so far behind it’s a joke. Cook needs to go.
Why are you so concerned about Apple being behind? Wouldn't you rather they take their time and offer a quality product? If you truly cared about using products that were first, regardless of quality, you would be using Android.

Apple’s not capable of building a foldable phone. I wouldn’t want the first generation. Remember the butterfly keyboard? I’ll bet Apple would like to forget that. I haven’t.

Apple aren't really building anything though; it'll be their manufacturing partners building it and they've got plenty of experience making foldables.

Apple is samsung's biggest customer. For the right amount of money samsung will make a foldable and slap a apple logo onto it.

We've reached peak mobile phone about 2 years ago. It now mainly feels like a case of companies throwing **** on the wall seeing what sticks. Phone cameras are increasingly limited by real world physics. Most of the changes are now software and it's questionable weather it needs new hardware to make it work.

Never mind that the vast majority people seem to be using their phones to simply death scroll on TikTok and Instagram.

if the fold will not sell well, there will no second foldable ipad
so you cannot predict the second fold...it depends on the first one

Apple going to have their Vision Pro moment with this foldable. Will bomb and be very niche. They are stupid enough to price it between $2,500-$3,000+

1) I own stock
2) I appreciate the company and their products and sadly the iPhone line is getting increasingly stale.
3) Being a year behind is normally what we expect from Apple to get things perfect. Being two or more years behind is unacceptable. Apple have failed to bring any of the planned new products to market in a timely manner. It’s been delay after delay after delay, from the AI, to CarPlay Ultra, to the new home hub, to these foldables. Something is wrong with Cook’s Apple and he needs to be replaced. I believe them putting everything into the (failed) Vision Pro set them back, and now rumours indicate the lower cost replacement (which could potentially save the platform) won’t be ready for another two years! Meanwhile meta continue to sell headsets and smart glasses.

A foldable iPhone is useless since it's bulky and you can't use it single-handedly. It's a huge step back in usability.
Flip iPhone—maybe an attractive option:

Attractive, you say?
I'm not seeing it.

On the topic of a folding iPad, I suspect it will be like two iPads and could be used in a clamshell mode with an onscreen keyboard in a certain configuration with a possibility to use it flat and have a massive iPad. Lean forwards, lean back, maybe iPadOS 26 will make us believe that the OS can serve our needs like that.

Folding iPhone, meh. And the flip format, it's the worst of both worlds.

Apple stock is up 300+% since 2019

iPhone sales is up 22% since 2019. Market is mature, and this does not take into account services revenue that is significantly increased.

Please provide an example of Apple being only one year behind the first mover, other than the old days of Macs which was a very different market than today. Even iPod was two years after competition. Large screen phones was two years behind, in a market moving much faster than today.

I agree that there are several examples of failures, but Jobs had failures too. None of the current failures are life threatening to the company. Not even the AI debacle, which is a LOT more serious than a delayed VR headset that nobody wants. The fact that Apple Inc is this resilient, is 100% Tim Cook’s responsibility. Please provide your suggestion on who would do it better. It’s easy to yell at the sky that Cook should go, but a lot less easy to point at someone better.

Hard disagree. I saw one use a flip-phone on the train recently, having the screen not all the way flat. Looked absolutely ridiculous. Much higher price and lots of downsides, with the only benefit being a slightly smaller device in my pocket? Hard pass.

Foldable iPad with a very large screen when opened will be great to use. However this certainly will not be cheap. Expecting it to be a minimum of $2999. Maybe it might even start at $3499. Waiting to hear more rumors on both the foldable devices.

Shows how little you know about foldable phones. They aren’t bulky now all latest foldables are very thin and light because they knew that’s where they need to get to for people to buy them. Why would people use phones in one hand? That’s just not realistic but you can use foldables like this when closed easily

This kind of mindset is why Apple has done nothing for years. Happy with boring slab phones which can’t do anything great and where you need to pick up a tablet to get anything useful done

Foldables are there to make productivity better. Foldables do everything better aside from camera quality.
