It's not that we think you are BSing. It is more most stores in China always advertise based on leaks. I was in China during last years launch and it was the same.

For those of you who are interested, I hope you like this new offering... but it's definitely not for me. I just don't see enough upside to a $2500-$3200 iPhone that can be unfolded into essentially an iPad mini. You can't put a screen protector on it, and I can't imagine what kinds of cases can comfortably accommodate these things.

I have to be honest, I do not see a lot of folding phones (if any) out in the wild at all the cafes and stores I stop at.
This includes a LOT of travel through and in Starbucks locations as I charge my EV at many of them across 3 states.
I think this product is a pretty niche/nerd oriented model, for sure.
My skepticism on mass adoption is quite high here.
If the price turns outs to be $2,199, I will only consider it if ATT gives equal trade in credits like they did for the Galaxy Fold 8. Otherwise, I will just get the 18 Pro Max.
History repeating itself. Next up, the people who buy the iPhone Flaps with upgraded storage at $3000 will convince Apple to release a new iPhone model starting at $3500, and their base model offering will increase from $599 to $999.
I am commenting on the Photo that accompanied this post above... That looks like a rather 'chunky' phone. For some reason the Samsung Fold 8 looks very svelte. Apple will probably, initially, sell a load of them, just hope it does not become a second Vision Pro.
For me the foldable is a 'fad' and am much more interested in a thin phone like the Air (hopefully to be an Air 2 soon) or a form factor like a closed foldable phone where the width is wider and height shorter than current phones ie. the passport form factor. I tend not to like this narrow candy bar phones format we have, and would prefer a wider but shorter phone. (it would also stop people taking vertical videos where we see the world through a slot and is completely nonsensical in a world where we have eyes set apart horizontally and not vertically).😂

Not only do foldable phones come with a screen protector on the inner display (and some still put one of the outer display) from the factory, you can remove it if you want to and put a different screen protector on or just go without one.
I've been an Apple customer since the early 90s. I've owned so many devices, I've forgotten more than I can remember. I'm a fan and I'm really curious about this folding phone, but there is no way I would pay over $2k for a device like this. I just don't see a lot of people rushing to jump on this bandwagon, not at this price.

I think so just imagine what you can do according with the price buy a decent second hand car.. travel the world there's a a few things I cannot justify this cost oh and some sucker will buy it just to fit in .. oh my lord 🤣

Just look look what happens after a few months to the middle of the screen 😅 and this is apple first try make s6ure to have apple careone 🤣 actually more costs for apple to get from people..
For much of Apple's iPhone history, that was exactly the reason many people chose iPhone over Android -- status. "Oh, look at me and my expensive iPhone!"...not so much any more as almost anyone from any economic class has an iPhone.
For the Fold phone, I think it's not so much ego/status as just having something that very few people have, and that's a different shape iPhone.

I have a particularly vain acquaintance and I've long suspected this is part of why he's always been a case less person.
It probably bums him out that nobody can tell iPhones from each other anymore (from one generation to the next).
