Foldable iPhone Development History and Price Revealed in New Report

For those of you who are interested, I hope you like this new offering... but it's definitely not for me. I just don't see enough upside to a $2500-$3200 iPhone that can be unfolded into essentially an iPad mini. You can't put a screen protector on it, and I can't imagine what kinds of cases can comfortably accommodate these things.

You really have to hold one to understand them.

For current offerings, each side is as thin as the air (maybe thinner) so when folded it may as well be a Pro iPhone. The case my peer had on his was pretty thin. The thought is that if you could unfold your current phone to give you more screen real estate would that be something you’d want?

I think you're right on ... the real question is how many folks need or want that, particularly for a steep premium to get it.

I honestly think the newest Galaxy Fold 8 in that form factor is very cool, but I've tried the Android switch once and am in no hurry to do it again.

I would be replacing a 13 mini! Part of the appeal to me is that I like the passport form factor more than the big'n'thick Pro. The benefit of a foldable to me would be having a more compact, pocket-friendly shape that still offers the convenience of a larger screen when needed.

You joke, but it's always been a woman who has seen my 13 Mini and been curious about it.

The Mini is old enough now where a lot of folks have never seen one and the comments do come out about "where did you get a smaller iPhone? Is that new?"

I think it will be primarily men who are interested in an "iPhone that unfolds into an iPad".

The whole thing feels a touch dorky, if being honest.

My thinking is to also replace my iPad. To have a phone and iPad in one would be great. It all depends on the app situation tho, will there be multitasking and iPad like apps when unfolded.

I’m looking forward to the Apple event tomorrow, for the first time in a while. Not only to see what John Turnus will be like as CEO but also to see the foldable.

No, if it is 18k RMB in China then with the current conversions it will cost 2000 USD

What am I missing? With the current conversion 18k RMB are ~$2682.
Even with removing the 13% Vat you are looking at ~$2369.
