I’ll just give you my use-case; others will have theirs: I’m an attorney who frequently needs to open e-mailed documents. This is near-useless on a phone, as I have to go through lots of contortions to read the document itself. On this phone, I could do it.Sounds pretty boring to me. Not sure why a folding iPhone would be interesting at all for 99.999999% of people out there.
Bezels are a thing, particularly on the outside of a clamshell device. The 5-something inches outer display and the inner almost-8 one doesn’t add up, again.
Take two of the smaller screen and put the one next to the other. No matter the ratio, it won’t reach 7.7 inches diagonally.
It sure about that. $500 compared to say $1500+. The only thing that is going to kill the iPad mini is how apple advertises it. Then again, apple doesn’t really show the barious ways their devices could be usedSo the iPad mini killer?
Couldn’t you just turn it sideways?I would much prefer a vertical 'flip' style than this book style.
It does roughly match up, see below. The inner screen has a bit of extra space at the crease. The 5-something inches outer display and the inner almost-8 one doesn’t add up, again.

Apple has noise-canceling tech that should solve that.I wonder if these will squeak, like an old door or that recalcitrant step you always step on at 2am, after a few years.
Nah. There's no way a foldable display lasts a few years.I wonder if these will squeak, like an old door or that recalcitrant step you always step on at 2am, after a few years.
But then why make a whole in the display instead of playing it on the shell?Bezels are a thing, particularly on the outside of a clamshell device.
I see your point, although many people buy previous generation iPhones, or the SE/16e, which are closer to $600-700.But when you combine the prices of both devices, it is already close if not over $2k depending on the options you choose.
It's not an iPad Mini killer; it's an iPhone Pro Max + iPad Mini killer; especially if you usually upgrade the storage on both your phone and tablet. No, it won’t be an iPad (mini) killer.
Not until it’ll be competitive in price.
So those people would most likely not be purchasing a $2k iPhone.I see your point, although many people buy previous generation iPhones, or the SE/16e, which are closer to $600-700.
Gotta have Apple Pencil support for him.Must ben John Wick with that price
This phone isn't targeted at us peasants. Apple is after the filthy rich--and plebs with misguided sense of priorities--with this phone. When I see an ad for ultra luxurious items, the ads makes zero sense to me. Apparently, it makes sense to rich people though.Sounds pretty boring to me. Not sure why a folding iPhone would be interesting at all for 99.999999% of people out there.
