Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone will likely cost around 10% more than Samsung's rival device, according to a known Weibo leaker.

According to a new post from the Weibo user known as "Instant Digital," Apple's first foldable iPhone will likely cost between $2,100 and $2,300—just a little more than Samsung's high-end foldable.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 starts at $1,899.99, while the Galaxy Z Flip6 starts at $1,219.99. Apple's first foldable iPhone is expected to have a book-like design that folds horizontally, just like the Z Fold. The rumored pricing would make Apple's foldable around $200–$400 more expensive than Samsung's equivalent offering.

For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199, but when configured with 1TB of storage that increases to $1,599. This means that Apple's first foldable will still be around $1,000 more expensive than the current flagship iPhone.

There are a growing number of insightful reports about Apple's long-rumored foldable iPhone; it is now expected to launch as soon as next year.

Instant Digital has a mixed track record for Apple rumors, but has provided some strikingly accurate information, such as the imminent launch of 2023's Yellow iPhone 14, the frosted back glass of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 9 as a minor refresh, spatial video capture on the iPhone 15 Pro, the latest iPad Air and iPad Pro's landscape front-facing camera, the M4 iPad Pro's nano-texture display option, the iPhone 16 Pro's battery capacities, and continued Apple Watch band compatibility through the Apple Watch Series 10. As a result, their reports are worth taking seriously.

While I won’t deny that it’s likely, pricing is always one of the last things to be set in stone.
It’s also one of the things that leakers to this day are still rarely able to nail down, flashback to pretty much every leaker since the iPhone X saying that the phones will start above 999 when they just… Haven’t.

My prediction is that it will start at $1999, because Apple likes their nice fat round numbers, and that’s still about $100-$200 more than Google and Samsung‘s offerings.
But at the end of the day, we are still at least 18 months away from this device being released, so even Apple doesn’t have an exact final price yet.

Don’t be silly. No one has any idea what things will cost then.
Don’t worry, it’s just another article in a few days that will say the price will be $1,999, followed by another one a few days later that will say it will be $3,999. It’s quite amusing. The sad part is, we’ll have to endure this for a couple more years until it’s officially released.

Ok. Release it. There is a market. Look at the Vision Pro for goodness sakes. I'm on a 3 year + phone curve now. But it is my almost everything device. iPad, only for plane and travel tv series consumption. Mac, workflow, heavy lifting. iPhone, everything else in my life.

Just give us an option on the iOS Fold to have Safari run in Desktop mode instead of Mobile by default.

I think I'd really only consider investing over 2k in one of these if they added external display/keyboard/mouse/multiwindow support like iPadOS, so it could be used as my everything (light use) device. If it replaces my phone, light tablet, and light desktop, and possibly cheap AR glasses (xreal etc) use cases then yeah, imo, that's enough value for me. Without the flexibility of the latter two, I don't know if it would make sense for me personally, costing more than a iphone pro and ipad pro combined to just get an iphone and an ipad mini without the advantages of ipadOS and combined battery in one device.

I couldn’t wait. I recently purchased z fold 6, and it has replaced my iPad usage. The latest operating system update added a control center like iOS, and a dock like iPadOS. My only disappointment is how bad the Dropbox app is compared to the iOS version. Really nice to be at least partially outside the expensive Apple ecosystem.

I think it will be pretty expensive compared to the non-folding iphones, but they will probably drop the price for year 2 or 3 and beyond. Apple like to charge a premium to get their new products in the first year or two.
