Looks like you can buy a Fold 6 from Samsung for like $1500 or so right now.

This just seems like Vision Pro Part 2. Release a "me too" product 5+ years after competitors have had their similar product on the market for a significant price increase.

If Apple will require developers to make specific versions of their apps to work on this, it's gonna be rough.

Something doesn't add up. Either Apple uses far worse exchange rates than Samsung, or nobody uses Samsung's MSRP, but right now in my country Pro Max is priced the same as the Z Fold 6. Adding a 1000 dollars to it with how Apple's prices translate, that would mean an 83% higher price than Samsung. No way Apple's first version will be that much better than Samsung's 7th or 8th.

Feels like another VisionPro-shaped misstep to me.

There might be a market for this, but it’s not large.

I realize I am an old man (48) yelling at the clouds. But I simply. Do. Not. See the appeal of a foldable phone, period. I would not pay half price for it, let alone double. According to one headline I saw, we take our phones out approximately 110 times per day. How on God‘s green earth is any phone, made by any company, ever, going to withstand that? I’m out.

It will have a screen with full functionality on the outside so you don't have to unfold it each time just to use it.

With twice the screen I think that reduces to 55 times per day.

The article should include “and it won’t be the only phone they sell. You’ll 100% have the ability to still buy a phone that does not fold from Apple.” :) I’ve a feeling that this fact may escape many.

How many times from that 110 do you wish you'd have an iPad at hand instead of a phone? That's the number you'll fold it, not the 110.

I mean, it’s like two device in one.

Although the original iPhone was three devices in one.

Tech related rumors/speculations/leaks I get, but a “pricing leak” for a product that might be released 18 months from now? Really?
What is it based on? If I read it right the price of a competitive phone, nothing else real… oh well

Well, not really, unless you can make two phone calls simultaneously and play two songs simultaneously.
You couldn't simultaneously internet communicate and widescreen browse on the original iPhone.

If the iPhone was three devices in one, the iPhonebook will be four devices in one.

a foldable iPhone:
- Apple has regressed to skating to where the puck has been...
- a desk jockey's dream come true

Meanwhile Siri and iOS need a Snow Leopard-type tune-up more than any other stupid idea that is 7-years too late.
