It's the VisionPro or iPhone Air story all over again. With iPhone Air they even tried not doing the Pro in black and it didn't work. (Almost) Nobody wants an expensive phone with less features.
You really underestimate Apple fans that need to have the latest, greatest and flashiest iPhone which will be the Apple Fold. Lol.

almost feel bad for Apple that so many products are being leaked months ahead of time these days... almost

Absolutely correct. Many people don’t realize this. Apple just “assembles” parts that already exists.
This is absolutely not true. Apple does involve themselves in the engineering, then contracts 3rd parties to manufacture them. Of course the vast majority of parts are off shelf parts or contracted parts based on volume sale but no Apple doesn't just "assemble" parts.

Not at all. Apple designs and then gets third parties to build their designs. I'm sure Samsung is providing input and expertise, but Apple is not just buying what Samsung gives them.

I don't want this either, and the volume of sales will be small, but it will still be orders of magnitude higher than Vision Pro.

Apple's first foldable iPhone is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in fall 2026, and it's shaping up to include three standout features that could set it apart from the competition.

The book-style foldable will reportedly feature an industry-first 24-megapixel under-display camera built into the inner display, according to a recent JP Morgan equity research report. That would be a major leap over existing Android foldables, which typically use lower-resolution under-screen cameras of 4 or 8 megapixels. If the leak is accurate, the quality bump suggests Apple has achieved a breakthrough in light transmittance and image clarity that has eluded other manufacturers.

As for the display itself, all the indications suggest Apple has solved "the crease problem" that has plagued most foldable smartphones. Apple is said to have worked intensively on the hinge and display to minimize creasing, and the latest report from Chinese site UDN claims the foldable iPhone will be the first crease-free foldable on the market.

On the battery front, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said the device will use high-density battery cells, and Korean sources indicate Apple is testing capacities in the 5,400–5,800 mAh range, while Chinese leaker Instant Digital has today claimed the final capacity will "definitely" exceed 5,000 mAh. That means it could be the largest battery ever fitted to an iPhone, surpassing even the iPhone 17 Pro Max's 5,088 mAh cell.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 4,400 mAh battery, while the Google Pixel Fold achieves 4,821 mAh. The Honor Magic V5 manages 5,820 mAh using silicon-carbon technology, but the vivo X Fold 5 boasts 6,000 mAh, which is currently the largest in its class.

Multiple sources agree the foldable iPhone will include a 7.8-inch main display when unfolded, a 5.5-inch cover display, and Touch ID rather than Face ID. The device will feature four cameras in total: one front hole-punch camera, the aforementioned under-screen inner camera, and a dual-lens 48-megapixel rear system.

Multiple reports have suggested the foldable iPhone will be priced between $2,000 and $2,500 in the United States, which could make it the most expensive iPhone ever. Apple will allegedly call the device the "iPhone Fold," which is the name the media has already adopted when describing the product.

So far so good rumor.❤️❤️❤️😍🥰 Hopefully, all the good things come true next Fall. It is so sweet the marriage between iPhone and iPad will become! One device will function both. Have been jealous to others with Fold 7. So tempted to switch. But, patience is a virtue. Apple fold device will be the best fold phone on the market as Apple pays attention to their product quality details. Better late than never but with great work!

Well 5.5 inch screen, 5000 mAh battery, and Pro class cameras, sounds like a significant iPhone Mini upgrade to me. If the inner screen is Apple Pencil compatible even more of a bonus!

For all guys wanting a iPhone Mini update here you go. Too bad about the price point though.

Sounds pretty cool but if it's anywhere near the 2,000-2,500 mark it's an easy pass
Heck if it’s not Silcon Carbon battery 🔋 tech in the fold then it’s a easy pass. I need the battery to last all day and to also be able to fast charge. If I’m paying $2,000 for this fold then I do not want any battery anxiety 😥 like the Air.

I suggest you at least wait for Version 2 or 3 of the iPhone Fold then. Although it will be pocketable at 5.5 inches when folded closed shut and the battery 🔋 will be reported at 5400 mAH. Everything else could be a setback cutback compromise.

As these things tend to go, I predict a Creasegate. Besides, I really see no use for a foldable for myself, especially at such an outrageous price. That said, I hope Apple does not abandon improving the Air model.

How is it not pocketable?

I just do not see the use case for this phone especially for $2,000-$2,500. What do you do with it? Just watch videos on a bigger screen?
What’s the purpose of any device with a bigger screen? A laptop? A tablet? You can get more done. Android has been doing split screen on phones for 9 years because you can do more with your device. It’s going to be all about multitasking. Reading while taking notes. Before and after photo editing side-by-side. Dragging and dropping text between two documents. Stuff like that.

2500 for a phone is just ludicrous, that is more then the Mac Studio starts at! But I imagine plenty of people will buy it regardless.

Under $3 bargain 🙄 comma v decimal point 😂
There is more than one way of writing this.

In certain countries, a period is used instead of a comma, and in other countries, it is just a space.

Furthermore, in certain countries, a comma is used instead of a decimal point.

ie. Writing $2.500,00 in some countries is the same thing as $2,500.00 in the US.
