Foldable 'iPhone Ultra' Rumored to Come in These Two Colors

New images of camera protector accessories for the "iPhone Ultra" suggest Apple's first foldable iPhone will launch in silver and dark blue finishes.

Leaker Sonny Dickson yesterday shared images of two third-party camera protectors designed to fit over the iPhone Ultra's camera bump, with one in silver and one in a dark blue finish. Dickson has a track record of accurate accessory and dummy model leaks, including his early look at this year's iPhone 18 Pro colors.

The images back up a May report that cited a Macworld supply chain source describing a classic silver and white model alongside an indigo option similar to the iPhone 17 Pro's Deep Blue finish. A silver finish was separately described as the first "confirmed" color in June, and a report the same week suggested the darker option might not be black. Dickson's accessories now offer the clearest visual confirmation yet of that silver and dark blue offering.

The restrained approach stands in contrast to the iPhone 18 Pro, which is rumored to add a Dark Cherry finish and a Light Blue option alongside Silver this year. A black option for the Pro models was also rumored initially, though a subsequent report suggested Apple decided not to include it this year.

The leaked accessories also clearly show the widely rumored design of the camera plateau on the back of the foldable iPhone, featuring two horizontally arranged lenses alongside a pill-shaped flash and a LiDAR scanner. The foldable iPhone Ultra is expected to be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max next month.

And god can apple just get rid of that midnight Color for good and stick to spaceblack or black. Blue tinted black looks awful on every device.
Have the AirPods Max in that ugly colour because that was the darkest option

Those issues are getting much better with newer displays and techniques. There are also newer polymers and thinner glass that should make it significantly better in the next 2-3 years. However, I need to point out that with newer devices, they are already very good.

Keep in mind, this is a 1st gen Apple product and the 2nd gen I already well into designing phase, so it might not be until the 3rd gen that Apple works in improvements based on user feedback. However, that is part of the risk with being an early adopter. I will be picking one up myself.

It's essentially a less narrow iPhone mini when closed, but an iPad mini when opened. There's MASS appeal for that imo.

I don't think it's about "solving a problem". It's more about offering an alternative solution for those who want it.

I don't remember a time I was out and thought I wish I had an iPad mini. Still doesn't make sense.

Anyways clearly it's not for me, I predict this will not sell. If it's priced like their VR set it will be dead in the water.

Video is probably the worst example, since due to aspect ratio, it won't be much larger. Better cases are reading, browsing the web, watching photos...

And in any case, there are obvious reasons why having a foldable screen is not the same as having an iPhone + iPad separately. The iPad won't be inherently better than the foldable iPhone. They're different devices, with different use cases (sometimes they overlap, yes) and advantages. This sounds like "if you have iPad Pro money, why don't you buy a MacBook Pro?".

Because I get the benefit of a smaller phone and a larger one in a single device along with much better multitasking. I can't exactly fit an iPad in my pocket, can I? Not to mention a foldable iPhone will match/exceed an iPad Mini and still weigh a hell of a lot less.

Not everything is about watching a basic video on a larger screen; it's about running apps designed for an iPad or even the Mac on the go. Being able to do the equivalent of full video/photo editing like you can do now with the more professional apps on a Mac with a device that fits in your pocket is really nice. But now you can just quickly fold the screen and put it in your pocket and treat it like any other regular slab phone.

Ignoring the creases, it's the ability to have this in my pocket.

I really don't get why some just don't understand the benefits. It's like trying to explain the benefits of a car to someone from 300 years ago; once you use it, you could never go back.

It’s definitely not attractive to me, but it will be to some. Once it’s released, we’ll have abetter idea of how consumers choose: “1 foldable with unfolded screen area <= iPad mini vs. 1 slab iPhone + iPad Air and have money left over.”

I’ve never really enjoyed consuming media on a small screen so I simply don’t. Outside home I use the phone for things the phone is good for (quick info lookups, directions, phone calls, messages, music, weather, etc.) At home, I might browse or watch short video content on an iPad Air on the couch. Anything requiring more research, analysis, or hobbies will find me at my desk using a computer with a mouse. When watching movies or TV shows, I’m in front of my TV where I can easily watch with family. I even use the TV for some YouTube content, like travel videos.
