Possible in a uber-Pro variant with crazy battery. But the Pro already has such good battery life with the camera bumps that filling the camera-bump space with battery is too niche I’m afraid. But it’s not like I was complaining.

Never buy a first gen Apple product. Heck, given that the 2nd gen is already probably nearly set and has zero consumer feedback, skip the second gen, too (if you can and if money is tight).

The second gen might take more than a year, like the Air, and given the 20th anniversary iPhone next year.

I'm confused about the mmWave thing. I'm in the US, so that means the mobile internet is going to be slow on the Ultra? If so then the name is VERY unfitting as there is little "ultra" about it opposed to the pro. They better just name it iPhone Duo.

You should see the youtube video on the Samsung Fold 8's camera's. Doesn't have a telephoto but still takes decent zoomed in shots.

Yeah, I think the biggest problem is having it on the outside screen when there’s a screen on both sides while they (hopefully) want to keep the thickness below 5 mm when unfolded.

Anyone else wondering what the point is for a camera on the interior, unfolded screen if there isn’t FaceID?

FaceTime, or video conferencing in general.

The Face ID TrueDepth camera is a different thing from the selfie front camera, so there is little connection between the two.

But if the camera on the exterior screen is in fact a telephoto camera, then when the “iPhone Ultra” is opened, you have 3 cameras. I doubt that is the case, but it is possible.

I don’t think that a telephoto lens makes sense for a selfie camera.

The Apple way - sell you the very bare minimum at a super premium price only to slowly release (should be there features) in later versions.

So they keep billions in Tariffs, instead of discounting the hardware to make up for that they on top of that increase prices by up to $300 across product lines.

Apple sucks for this. Total slap in the face for consumers.

Good for you, more chance for me to get mine. As blind as I am I don't like to zoom in too much when I'm far away. As too zoomed in it's never as good as having the main camera. But from what I've seen it's not as bad as folks think it is.

Here's examples and I also believe that Apple's camera will be better than the Fold 8 as the Fold 8 Ultra has better cameras.

mmWave is short range (hundreds of feet from a tower, not miles), low penetration (glass, concrete, foliage can block it, and rain can interfere with it), and costs more (many, many more towers required). It is very very fast when it works, but regular 5G is also fast.

Unless you’re in a city (and not all the time even in those) where a provider has built out the towers for it, you’re probably getting “only” 5G now. Rural areas will probably never have mmWave at all because of the costs.

The amount of screen and chassis space that would take up would be hilarious.

It could be argued that TouchID is actually superior. FaceID unlocks your phone whether you want it to or not. You have no control over this process without turning it off.

Unlocking with a fingerprint is a conscious decision on the part of the user and provides a necessary barrier of entry. It's also how the majority of phone users do so.

Not exactly true; it depends on your jurisdiction but ultimately biometrics are grouped together and treated differently than passcode entry, which is generally protected under the US Fifth Amendment
