I would argue that focusing on the customer rather than the shareholder is the key to lasting shareholder value.

The long term play is the delight of the customer in a profitable way instead of coming up with an ever-increasing way of sucking even more money out of the market.

Speaking as a consumer who has a household crammed with Apple devices, Apple's growing focus on growth and finances have made me more distrustful and critical of the company, and hence less loyal going forward.
Has Apple increased shareholder value?

I will get downvoted for this but here it goes... Microsoft Duo. I assume there was no way possible for apple to engineer the hinge and screens to connect as if they became one screen when opened flawlessly.

This would solve a lot of problems foldable / flips have now but probably doesn't look as nice.

Not seeing the point of arguing over whether you unlock your phone with a thumb or your face… it’s literally a split second. Meanwhile, I’ll be over here living in foldable bliss while the rest of you keep unwrapping the same Wonka bar Apple’s been selling for a decade straight.

What I do not like is switching between touch and face.

Took me a while to get used to face all those years ago, but came to appreciate it a lot.

Having touch on my iPad mini works but my initial reaction is to look at it as if it had face! Sure - only tiny issue. But I think I would prefer face on it - like on my iPad Pro.
I do the same with my Mini. I think part of the issue why there’s that slight stutter in the mechanics of unlocking is that the sleep/power switch with the sensor is at the top of the device instead of the side. Touch ID going on the power switch for the foldable will likely feel more natural as that’s how most people grip their phones.

From a shareholders perspective which is the main and only customer for Apple. This makes perfect sense. Increase the price two-fold but downgrade it two-fold too.

Maximum profit.
Samsung foldable phone price range: $2000-$2450. The same as the rumored price range for Apple's.Why do people being critical of Apple have nothing to say about that in comparison? Why no comments about them or their profit goals?

What is the issue with Apple making as much money for their shareholders as they can? Is that not the primary responsibility?

NO ONE is required to buy any apple products, let alone this foldable phone. You want a foldable phone or any style phone for that matter? You have plenty of alternatives for any product Apple makes.

Already poor specs compared to current foldable. Off course: apple is coming to the party 7 years later with a 1grn device lacking expertise in features and hardware.
And expensive as if truly “modern”, but it is truly behind in all specs already.

Downgrade? Why would Touch ID be considered a downgrade? I don't get it...
Objectively? Less entropy so technically less secure.
Why put two Face ID sensors (one inside, one outside) when you could just use a single Touch ID?
It makes no sense from an engineering standpoint.
I get what you're saying but I still find it funny considering it also has two displays (and two "front" cameras, so quite a few components are replicated).

The Face ID sensor array also isn't just for unlocking, it's used for attention detection (so alarms quiet down for example) and (admittedly not all that useful) features like Animoji.

How would this work with iOS features like requiring attention before showing notification details? Or it wouldn't and people with touch id gets less features.
Huh? Requiring attention only applies to Face ID. It's irrelevant for Touch ID because you would likely never touch the sensor without wanting to unlock/show details. But if for some reason you wanted to look at your phone without unlocking (which you can't do with Face ID), you could still press the button with the tip or side of your finger or really anything other than your registered finger print.

FaceID is at minimum going to be on the outside screen.

If it is a foldable form factor the inner screen may not have it but I'd wager there is near zero chance the phone will not have any form of FaceID anywhere.

Hypothetically, Apple could have a complex slide-over design to set themselves apart which would both eliminate the crease issue and need for faceID in both configurations, and be more design-forward, if there is a small border around the outer edge they could black it out to match the other side and look visually symmetrical.

I don't necessarily think that will happen, but who knows.

I absolutely think when folded faceID will be present, possibly with a 3rd generation faceID that scans faster and perhaps at wider angle to make sure it scans and unlocks before you open it if you do it very quickly. The sensor array is due for an upgrade on the iPhone.

If they're doing the ultra iPhone 20th anniversary the same year it's possible they will exclude it and try to push people toward the higher margin device and add it in the second year to get the people who would upgrade for it or held out, but I doubt it because it's such a clear downgrade.

Attention-aware features have been baked into iOS for 8 years. There is no version of the iPhone without a home button that has touchID. This rumor is extremely stupid because under device touchID solves absolutely nothing and adds complexity.

Had this idea some weeks/months ago, was posting about it here. The two inner displays could be made with a folded glass edge, a little beyond 90° to help butt them together when open fully, snapping together in a gentle kiss in the last 20° or so.

Would make for a line, but a consistent one over years with the right hinge. It may not be as cool, but it would have more structural integrity, and would interest me personally more than a bendy display—a physical weak point.

Allows for high quality glass inside. There is something to this idea, I just don’t know if Apple would try it. Both designs have their trade-offs and both work in their own ways. Two screens also makes internal, centrally located Face ID achievable.

The threads about this just go to show how different people are and how differently they experience things, because I could never go back to Touch ID; there’s stuff I think I’d be fine with giving up but Touch ID would be a deal breaker. Every time I use Touch ID now on my MacBook or iPad I think “man I wish this thing had Face ID.”
Yup I'm the opposite. I always wish for Touch ID when using my Face ID iPhone.

Prédictions Prémonitions … The rumor culture at Apple is cult … I predict it will have an external battery like Vision Pro, no speakers as we all have AirPods Pro, some features not available as we have Apple Watch and there is one more thing … it will cost $ 3000

Yeah, I don't know why they would do that. Isn't FaceID more secure than a tiny bit of a fingerprint? I really like FaceID.
It depends which metric one chooses to use. If you take random faces/fingers, Face ID is more secure, which is of course how Apple marketed it. But it's not always random. I've heard of similar-looking family members being able to unlock another family member's Face ID phone, but I've never heard of that for Touch ID. And I've never heard of a random person being able to open either a Face ID or Touch ID phone because the chances are so low for both. So lack of security doesn't seem like a relevant issue with either.

Your thumb is likely more secure than your face when it comes to law enforcement overstepping their bounds to knock your phone. The Supreme Court (yes, even this joke of one) has ruled their is a huge difference

That’s pretty terrible news. Apples side button Touch ID is one their worst user experiences across the platform. I’ve used for years on iPad Air and it has not gotten any better. Not one bit. It’s miserable, and stupid, and it’s the leading reason to buy an iPad Pro. No one should let Apple off the hook for handicapping their first foldable out of the gate like this.
