Apple's first foldable iPhone will be equipped with a 7.7-inch inner display, and a 5.3-inch outer display, according to The Information.

Earlier this year, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the foldable iPhone would have a 7.8-inch inner display, and a 5.5-inch outer display, so the sizes shared in today's report are slightly smaller. However, specs might not be finalized yet.

The publication said the iPhone 18 Pro will have a camera in the top-left corner of the screen, and it expects the same for the foldable iPhone's inner screen.

The foldable iPhone's displays are made with a "complex" mix of "specialty glass and materials" from companies like Corning and SCHOTT, according to the report.

Apple is expected to release the foldable iPhone in September 2026.

Apple spent the last 10 years moving away from physical buttons on iPhones to avoid wear, now they're supposedly going toward an entire phone that opens and closes? I still don't think this will actually happen.

As I've said before, what interests me more is a flip phone, but I'll probably buy neither a fold nor a flip and will probably just buy another slab in 4 years when I upgrade.

Time to say so long to the iPad mini.
That's what I said when the iPhone 6 Plus came out. For my own usage that is.

I use a 17 Pro, 11" iPad Pro, and Mac mini with 32" 6K monitor.

The screen size is fine, I would most likely stop using my iPad Air, but, but, the rumors say no FaceID and no telephoto lens, those 2 are absulte showstoppers for me

I like Touch ID, but no telephoto would make it a non-starter for me too. I mentioned I kinda like the idea of a flip phone more than the fold type, but I worry that such a flip phone wouldn't have a telephoto either.

Flip might be a few years out, from Apple.
Thing is, Samsung is offering a 3 (4) camera fold already, so why can't Apple?
And TouchID is far too unreliable for me (success rate on my iPad Air is 60% at best) for a smartphone.
But, since I got a 17 PM on launch replacing my 13PM, I should be good for another 3-4 years anyways...

I think it’s inevitable. All the big players have foldables, and I remember when the Galaxy Fold first came out people said it’ll be a fad and won’t last, yet they keep making them and they’re slowly becoming more popular.

There’s a good amount of people who want this, even if small, but it’ll keep growing as the tech advances, and Apple will probably perfect it sooner rather than later.

As for the buttons, they can still move towards that for all their other devices and still have a foldable that’ll (hopefully) get stronger and sturdier each iteration.

iFold is a perfect iPhone mini and iPad mini device and a perfect device for those who loves iPhone mini and iPad mini and wants to have them in one and pocketable. I am sure it will be sold out quickly for iPhone mini and iPad mini devotees.

Foldable phone will be a common device for all eventually, maybe around 10 years less or more.

That is why when TriFold is available, it is inevitable for me to switch from iPhone 17 pro max to have unfold size = iPhone pro max and tablet size = regular 10 inch iPad with camera features better than iFold.

Check Samsung offering if preferring better technology. Apple technology is behind on offering flip or fold phone.

Now if they can get the total thickness of the folded phone to 7.7mm and the weight to 140g, we have the ideal iPhone Mini update !
Based on the size rumor, this upcoming iFold is perfect for those who loves having iPhone mini and iPad mini in one pocketable device as long as not requiring telephoto and Face ID.

Apple spent the last 10 years moving away from physical buttons on iPhones to avoid wear,
Have they though? Have they really?
The original iPhone: power button, home button, mute switch, volume rocker.
iPhone 4: separate volume buttons.
iPhone 6: longer and wider buttons.
iPhone X: even longer and wider power button… but no home button.
iPhone XR: dual SIM support.
iPhone 15 Pro: Action button added, mute switch removed.
iPhone 16: Camera control added.
There is one less switch but two more buttons than in 2007.
