Somewhat it is the return of the iPhone mini with extra iPad mini when unfolded. It is such a perfect two “mini” devices in one.
It’s not!!!
Please understand that the screen size measurement simply being similar to the iPhone Mini does *not* mean the same or even similar.
All rumors point to this device being significantly wider than the iPhone 12 Mini, significantly shorter, significantly thicker, and significantly heavier.
The actual usable screen space is more than likely going to be a lot closer to your standard iPhone 17 or 17 Pro than it is the Mini.

Still looking pretty accurate:

The biggest issue is going to be the closed width. If it's any wider than the current Pro phone, like the Pro Max phone, it'll be too wide for one handed use.

Yikes! Wider than the 17 Pro Max?!?

I found the 17 Pro Max annoying for two-handed use too, mainly because of the width in combination with the depth.

My 12 Pro Max was already too big for my relatively small hands, but the 17 Pro Max's increase in size pushed it over the edge for me.

Finally, there isn't a phone in the world, Apple or otherwise, that is worth north of $2000.
I mean, given that the original iPhone in box sells north of $40,000 all the time this is just factually incorrect.
Or the 2 TB 17 Pro Max, which is already $2000 pre-tax.
I think more what you mean is that there isn’t a phone worth $2000… to you. And that’s fine.
There are people who spend $200 on a sound bar at Best Buy for their home movie set up, and there are those who dump $10,000+ into a 7.1.4 full balls to walls Dolby Atmos set up with a receiver that’s $3000 on its own.
Worth is very subjective.

Speaking for myself, obviously. I decided a few years ago that $1200 was my upper limit, not because I can't afford more (I can), but they are not worth that much to me. I just don't care about phones to spend that much.

For me, my phone is a fun device. $2k seems insane.

Apple spent the last 10 years moving away from physical buttons on iPhones to avoid wear, now they're supposedly going toward an entire phone that opens and closes? I still don't think this will actually happen.
I can understand not being interested in the device, but not thinking it will actually happen?

IMO the most unbelievable rumor/leak was that Apple was working on a car, and that turned out to be true, even though they scrapped it. But Apple releasing a type of device that their competitors have already shipped for years seems unlikely to you?

Do people serious buy all 2tb. That is where they rip you off. There’s plenty of other solutions for that. I always get the case for storage.

With the phone being so small closed folded, I think Apple 🍎 wants you to mainly use the phone unfolded and fully open at all times.

The screen size is fine, I would most likely stop using my iPad Air, but, but, the rumors say no FaceID and no telephoto lens, those 2 are absulte showstoppers for me
That’s why you don’t get Version 1 first gen. I’m gonna wait for 2nd gen iPhone Fold. Probably gonna keep getting the Pro Max with no compromises for a while.

Outer display? Pff. Just make it trifold and let us have an ipad when fully opened and a normal screen when closed.. ı will not pay for a useless screen when opened.

If this drawing is to be believed, that’s way to small! Seems more like a flip than a fold. I don’t want a tiny phone that opens to something just slightly larger than a Pro Max. Apple should know by now, people don’t want small phones. They want a iPhone max when closed, something larger than iPad mini when open. If people have to put up with a crease, the device has to be large enough to justify the crease. And no trifold, that just seems silly.

The iPhone Fold will have telephone, but it will probably be just 2x telephoto quality like the iPhone Air due to the thinness of the Fold. The Fold is rumored to be thinner than the iPhone Air.

I would wait until Gen 2 iPhone Fold if you want less compromise.
