I decided it was time to try something foldable again, so sitting here with a Z Fold 7 being overwhelmed with all the Android setup. Gonna be fun to tinker with a while at least until the Apple foldable launches.

Anyone know if the waitlist for OpenBubbles is long for their hosted service? Want to use my number for it as well.

FlossyCarter put the TriFold on a scale and it registered 319 grams naked and not the 309 that's commonly reported. Not a dealbreaker for me, just interesting. His scale is accurate since he also put the Fold 7 on it and it registered 216g, within a gram of marketed weight.

Add in a kickstand case and we're probably looking between 340-350g total. That's roughly 10% more than my heaviest Fold with all accessories.

For a scale to be considered accurate it needs constant calibration against a standard

So there is always a margin of error somewhere

I am very surprised by the Fold 7's battery life to be honest, been setting up my device yesterday and today so quite a bit of downloading and installing as well as not learning usage patterns yet. Only thing I've done that could be considered battery saving is use the light performance profile.

Still it only used 40% with 3.5 hours screen on time yesterday and 60% with 5 hour screen on time (and 15 hours of screen off), both days also had 1.5-2 hours of phone calls while the screen was off.

@The Game 161, any additional first-hand thoughts on the TriFold during your first week? How are you liking it? How has the battery life been? Does it get you through a full day? How is inner screen brightness outdoors? Are you getting used to the weight? How is performance? Any surprises or issues? Thanks for sharing.

Been very positive thus far. I tested the battery quite well yesterday with plenty of sport.

For reference I finish yesterday on 30% battery and had 5 hours, 16 minutes screen time

So battery wise has been fine.

Brightness outside was more than good enough. While not 2600 good you will still have no issues regarding viewing content outside. Weight wise you do feel it in your pocket for sure but when you do open the device it feels so light and is a joy to use and hold. I went for a 3 mile walk just holding the device watching content.

Just have to programme your mind to make sure you fold it correctly and go left first but that will come with time

I don't know if I really want that though. The thought of having a short and fat outer screen just doesn't seem appealing.
It's definitely something to think about as it's a different experience. When I had the original Google Pixel Fold it was a pleasure to use though I would've enjoyed it slightly taller. Battery was the reason I got rid of it.

For sure. I'll go in with an open mind. I'm pretty much still all in on Samsung and Folds, so I'll definitely have a choice to make.

Another thing that might sway the decision is apps being compatible so we shall see as overall still a letdown with the state of them to foldables

So true. I think as of right now unless something really sways me, I'm probably going to stay with the form factor I'm on. I've actually accustomed to the cover screen now and anytime I pick up someone else's phone that's larger, I hate it.

Do you often rotate your phone in landscape orientation (on inner display)? For viewing content? Or maybe SplitScreen apps? Because that’s really the point in this new version coming out…

If Samsung does offer two different Fold models…. I’m definitely going for the one that unfolds in landscape orientation, but I’d wager Samsung release this wide Fold two months after the standard Fold. And only in Asian markets… seems on brand for Samsung these days.

I probably never rotate it, as the aspect ratio on videos doesn't really bother me. I do from time to time used two apps side by side though. That's always a really nice experience.

I think I rotate much less nowadays but it's nice sometimes when you get the right app with the viewing being spot on

Interesting. If I'm watching a full screen video it's definitely going in landscape orientation... having those black bars on top and bottom would annoy me. If I do decide to watch a video in portrait... I'll Splitscreen another app at the bottom in an effort of removing the black bars.

I'm mostly in portrait orientation as well... but when it comes down to viewing content, landscape provides a more immersive experience. But this coming from a Fold 6 user.... so maybe it's different for me.
