Hanging onto my ZF7 fow now, the ZF8U to me feels like a spec bump than a new phone. The crease is also still there, just minimized, not that I mind the ZF7's crease in the first place. Looking forward to what Apple is going to do with their foldable or maybe the S27U. I would probably have gotten the ZF8U if the cameras were 200/50/50.
I hope the ZF9 Ultra has the ultra cameras as I feel currently it's not really an ultra, just a spec bump like you said.

If Samsung never introduced this new form factor… think I would have stayed with the ZF6 and wait it out to see what they do going forward.

But now with them making an Ultra foldable… they can really push more premium features to the foldable line. Like adding an S-Pen, S Ultra-tier cameras. If they ever bring back the S-Pen and make it exclusive to the Ultra foldable, then I’ll get the Ultra next go around.

I watched this video and the wide looks better than I expected. I can't wait to play with it in store.

I refuse to give him a click… he was very rude when I commented on one of his vids (and it was nothing malicious or anything).

That's funny you say that I'm not really a fan of him just doesn't come off correctly to me. And he's never done anything per se just a feeling I get when I watched a few of his videos and I stopped watching them

Yeah, if you don’t have a Samsung device (to trade in)… makes sense to go elsewhere to purchase it than buying directly from them.

Only issue with Best Buy, they take forever to ship… you will more likely have it after it’s released. At least with Samsung they will ship it early, expecting it next Friday (based on past purchases).
I usually do in-store pickup for anything I trade in to avoid any shipping nonsense / fraud. It says available on release day, so we'll see. I am always jealous of folks who get their devices early from Samsung direct, hopefully fomo won't kick in and I'll keep the BB pre-order 😂

That's fair. I haven't had an issue with him but I understand why you wouldn't want to watch.

I like his content which is surprising to me because he talks about the phones more than shows them.
Shane Craig is still the best foldable reviewer in my opinion though.

Yeah, we went back and forth over something… not sure exactly what it was. And he was being snobbish for no apparent reason… so I decided to remove myself from the situation.

I will be watching Samsungs event later today (UK time), I'm interested to see what Samsung are doing this year, especially with the wide foldable. Be interesting to see how the folds from Samsung and Google, compare to Apple's Ultra in September.

I’m also eager to see how the market reacts come September.

WWDC seemed a bit off this year focusing mostly on ai, maybe apple am has something up its sleeve come launch or maybe they don’t.

But it will definitely be interesting to see.

With Turnus becoming CEO, maybe he has had a hand in things lately. I read some where that he is much more hands on when it comes to products, compared to Tim Cook who just wasn’t a products guy.
I’m interested to see what Apple have been cooking up in the labs all these years. There has to be a reason why they are now jumping into the foldable market, after years of ignoring it. Apple don’t just jump into things unless they feel they have something to offer.

I’m looking forward to September, Apple have some still competition tho.

I'm excited to see what Apple has in store. I've long wanted an iOS foldable. Even though I think Samsung has the foldable UX as refined as any, as most of my family and friends are on iPhones, it just makes the iPhone more convenient, and frankly, a better communications device for me at least when only considering friends and family. That's why I mostly use a iPhone on my personal line and the Trifold as my workhorse for my business line.

You certainly do have a point there. Ternus is a hardware guy and leaks have been sparse so far…

About 5-6 weeks left, I guess we will know sooner than later.

Too true regarding compitition, perhaps Samsung will offer more incentives come September. 🤷

Trifold now that’s hardcore. 😂

You are right Samsung has been making foldables for 8 years, so they might have the edge (pun intended 😂), but Apple does have the vertical integration of software on their side, so it could be a toss up until the release.

What is interesting is that Apple will start to offer phone number sharing between two iPhones within an os level with iOS 27 come fall. So they might be expecting some of their user base to pick up a secondary iPhone.

One thing is for sure it will be interesting, whenever Apple enters a segment it seems to breathe new life and attention for everybody involved.

We should all know soon enough.

Thinking you will have a tough time come September… choosing between the 18PM with it’s new aperture camera system or the iPhone foldable.

Best time to order from Samsung is during pre-orders… we don’t know how much Apple plans to charge for their iPhone foldable and if the rumors are correct with a $2500 starting price, not sure Samsung needs to offer any incentives when it’s already lower than Apple ($1900).

And Apple doesn’t really offer any crazy discounts when it comes to ordering directly from them… what you see is what you typically get. While it’s a different story from Samsung, being able to save over 1k is a big deal in this current climate that we are in and who’s to say Apple will be that generous.

LOL yea, I justified it as it comes in handy with my line of work. Construction documents, pdf viewing, docusigns, great for emails, and it still folds up and fits in my pocket. Not to mention great for traveling and media. I've even set it up in meetings with a bluetooth keyboard. Really a versatile device that has pretty much made me move away from my tablets. The number sharing is an intriguing rumor. I can see how that would come in handy for many people. As I like to keep my personal number away from any business contacts I'll probably always have two numbers, but I can see where that would be useful for quite a few.

Hahaha plan for now is to stick with the 17PM. Camera is fantastic in most cases. But I'm sure you've seen over the years, I'm not exactly a rock, and tend to fall for the hype even when I say I'm not going to lol

Quite true Apple doesn’t offer incentives and historically you are correct, in regards to preorders typically having the best discounts.

Having said that this will not be a typical year and I would assume Samsung would want to crush the iPhone foldables preorders, by any means necessary, ie offering additional incentives.

Afterall Samsung owns the foldable market and Apple is the new fold on the block 😂.

I don’t foresee Samsung wanting to cede their 8 year head start or crown to Apple.

Of course, this is just speculation on my part.

No justification necessary, except maybe from the missus. 😉

It’s not a rumor they listed it on a slide at wwdc and it caught my eye, we just don’t know the how exactly. 😂

But it’s Apple afterall they might pull it off or they might need 1 or 2 years to perfect.

This was shared to Us by one of the members over at Android Central. I think it's a big deal for those that like flex mode and are looking to get the wide version

Samsung's ordering is just a mess for me. I just saw the $100 off for using PayPal as well so decided to place an order in the Samsung app. Total glitch fest, ended up adding $8000 of items into my cart. Took 10 minutes to manually remove everything. Then the PayPal code wouldn't apply. Once it applied it re-added a case to my order so had to go back and remove that. Repeated this process once in the app and then again on my office PC. Then it couldn't verify my address when placing the order but I got two charge notifications from Amex. No orders showing in my Samsung account, PayPal, or order emails.

Seriously, how hard is it to process an order. This isn't Apple and the demand isn't nearly as high as iPhone launch, and it's several hours after pre-orders opened. Anyone else running into ridiculous issues?

Kinda a bummer. But honestly tho the only time I use flex mode is when on a Zoom or MS Teams meeting, which these days is not that often anyhow. I'd say it's easy to sacrifice flex mode in exchange for the better form factor.
