  • Hey Bob (Danielle / Ed)
    :adore:

  • Danielle's job isn't fun with all the crew stuff indeed.

  • Kelly making and later also finding extra terrestrial life on another planet
    :D
  • Ed's "f*cking Russians" gets a whole other meaning

    - you don't even know her name - this is gonna be a funny reveal.
  • I blame it all on Kelly though after she sussed Alexei not to tell Ed.

  • Aleida's "fury" will unintentionally bring down Margo.
  • Margo will loose her job, but might get spared worse/pardoned, if she can show what she gained from Sergei (water coordinates). Hope she can also get his family to safety.

  • Danny whatever - please let it all be over soon.

  • Tyler: loved how he explained wanting to build better from the start. Hope he gets trough it all - stays on Mars/in Space - thus never gets demoted or whatever and is part of the show's future storyline.

  • Hope Ellen comes out publicly ahead of the Larry reveal - what is more important for her: her real self / life or just the re-election... Hope we get to see Pam, even if it is just a happy/satisfied smile regarding Ellen coming out on TV or something.

  • May Larry and the Vice president vanish into thin air together...

I think the flash forward season ender will be in 2007 with the first Manned mission to Jupiter arriving at Callisto.

3.7 Bring it down

everything crumbles...

Danny Stevens 😡👿
endangers the mission, the others and himself. Wonder how many he killed and what that means for the whole space program efforts of all of them.... and he seems to get away... and now poor injured Ed is stuck with him in a close confinement...

Njeeeeeeet 😢😨
Was that Kelly's partner who got caught by the water/rock wave?!

Yay for
Ellen going to Pam - still shipping them 🥰, hope they have at least a heart to heart talk - would love to see them reunite and Ellen to come out on her terms

Margo
looses everything within 3-2-1, first Sergei, now her job she lives for. Should have come clean to Aleida or at least try to explain, not sure she was going to take it up with whomever she said prior

Wonder if by seasons end, that's it for the whole
old(est) guard: Ed, Larry/Ellen, Margo. Certainly shaping up this way

The drilling incident neatly increases the stake for just about everyone involved. My wild speculations.

Ed and Danny: I would be shocked if one of them makes it out. Ed has surprised us in both of the two previous seasons with unsung heroic acts. I suspect he will pull up another heroic act that will wake up Danny.

Margo and Aleida: As Aleida contemplates turning in Margo, I think the fate of Sergei will trigger Margo to come clean. But not before doing a major damage to Roscosmos leadership.

Molly: She will be back to replace Margo as the head of NASA.

Ellen: It seems increasingly likely for Ellen to come out or exposed. She might throw Margo under the bus as a distraction. But Margo's unfortunate fate might trigger Ellen to reconsider.

Kelly: Kelly will discover life on Mars (with namesake David Bowie song blaring), setting up a conflict for the next season, commercialization (Helios) vs. scientific research (NASA).

Karen: Karen will set things in motion to start a coup and take over Helios.

Can someone tell me the drama to space ratio of season 3?
After Ep 7 I have to take back my earlier comment. Soap opera is back on. 😑

Aside from that anybody else thinking they went too early with current/futuristic tech and that Mars seems far less hostile/isolating an environment? The 70's/80's vibe on the moon was something else.

Just finished episode 7. I hate the Danny story. It’s dragged the entire season down. And as I read on another forum the scientific decision making has been at Prometheus levels of stupidity. I keep hoping the rest of the season will get it together but I don’t think it does.

These are good takes, but given that the show is more Space Opera than traditional Sci-Fi I would not be surprised if we saw one or more dramatic alternatives:

Ed and Danny: I would be shocked if one of them makes it out. Ed has surprised us in both of the two previous seasons with unsung heroic acts. I suspect he will pull up another heroic act that will wake up Danny.
My money is on a Danny redemption in the form of a surprise sacrifice to save Ed/everyone. He's a character in a lot of pain and I don't see many paths where his emotional crisis wouldn't just continue if Ed died and he had to go back home disgraced and having to face Karen. He's on a tragic hero trajectory. That would also provide a good ending to the storyline with his brother, who would be forced to accept the sacrifices made by their parents in the process adding him to the list of people saved by Danny.

Margo and Aleida: As Aleida contemplates turning in Margo, I think the fate of Sergei will trigger Margo to come clean. But not before doing a major damage to Roscosmos leadership.
I can just as easily see a situation where Margo turns the tables on Aleida by framing her to save her skin and keep herself in a position to continue helping Sergei and his family by going back to sharing info with the Russians. OR Just because she will do anything to keep her job even if it means destroying the closest thing she has to family. I think her firing Molly at the start of the season might have been foreshadowing an overall antagonistic turn in her character and we'll see her take Aleida down to get her way.

Molly: She will be back to replace Margo as the head of NASA.
Not sure about this. See above. Plus Molly is an astronaut and pilot, not an engineer or politician like you'd expect as the either Administrator of NASA or the Director of JSC.

Ellen: It seems increasingly likely for Ellen to come out or exposed. She might throw Margo under the bus as a distraction. But Margo's unfortunate fate might trigger Ellen to reconsider.
Ellen will pick things back up with Pam and, one way or the other, it will trigger this history's version of the Clinton Scandal complete with an impeachment trial and investigation. I suspect the distraction will be the reverse. The scandal will be the cover that allows Margo, and whatever actions she takes to secure her job, to fly under the radar... for now.

Kelly: Kelly will discover life on Mars (with namesake David Bowie song blaring), setting up a conflict for the next season, commercialization (Helios) vs. scientific research (NASA).
Pretty spot on I think, but at the same time as discovering life, or discovering the drill blowout destroyed the life, she is going to find out she is pregnant with more than a year left on Mars.

Karen: Karen will set things in motion to start a coup and take over Helios.
Karen, I predict, is going to be given a high ranking position at NASA, possibly an administrative roll over even Margo, because of her business experience in order to streamline and reduce costs by working with the private industry.

that’s disappointing ing, lol

3.09

Yay for Ellen finally doing the right thing!
Yay for the Pam cameo, hope we still get to see her - still shipping them.
Yay for Tyler and his newfound friend

Ugh, hope Kelly and kid pull trough!

Nay for Helios boardroom maneuvers. Rooting for Dev now!
Nay for Aleida being pissed at Bill. Shouldn't have told him then...

Chekhov's rocket...
How did he survive that long in such a small thing (air, food, water?!)
Is it a one way mission?
how did he survive the 7 minutes of hell landing?
so many questions!

Nay for Aleida being pissed at Bill. Shouldn't have told him then...
I'm not with you on this. She trusted him, she said she doesn't want the FBI or anything. She has all the rights to be pissed. He should've talked with her and don't tell anyone.

lol did not see that final scene coming 😯

Liked the finale.

It's gonna be a long wait (1 year plus probably as season 4 production just has started I think)

Yay's
  • Kelly and Baldwin Jr live! - thanks in part to Aleida's "the Martian" rescue plan after Margo set her straight
  • Molly saving Ed's ass, as well as many NASA workers after the bombing, what a character RIP HERO
  • Ed lives (he is the 1st 🥇to land 2 times on Mars) 🤣
  • sad/lonely Korean - actual 1st human on Mars - thankfully gets rescued, video calls wife, smiles
  • Sergei/Family in safety
  • the "Martian" family* lives - So many Whatney's - hope they have enough potatoes
    ;)
    - looking forward to seeing them hopefully again, especially the Russian commander and Doctor, Dani and Tyler.
  • Ellen still POTUS, lives and visits Pam
    :adore:
Nay's
  • *unfortunately Danny still lives and the other misguided brother Jimmy too. How many deaths have they directly and indirectly caused?!
Questions/Thoughts
  • Kelly's baby isn't suited for life in earth gravity, thus they choose to live in space/on Mars (also keeps the actress on the show)
  • Dev still will get kicked out at Helios, but how bad is NASA doing? any chance they could "merge".
  • Can Ellen protect NASA or Space Exploration somehow as POTUS or with new job head of NASA/Helios/Merger?

When Dev lost the room it reminded me of WeCrashed, i wonder what will happen to Dev now, i'm sure he'll be around in S4.

With Karen being gone, I'm willing to bet Dev stays as CEO now.
Biggest question for next season is:

Who is running NASA? Margo definitely tried to pass the torch to Alida, but I doubt the higher powers will be down with someone that refused to assist the FBI. Molly is gone (😢). Maybe the Admiral comes home from Mars and takes command? The other possibility, NASA took a big hit in the bombing and lost too many people and the government decides to absorb/buy out Helios (remember they wanted to buy their ship already) and Dev is now running the US Space Program. It almost has to be someone that has no love lost for Margo as, after a 10 year jump, there is no way the US Government doesn't know she is alive and most likely leading the Soviet program.

Second biggest question:

Do they just exile Danny on Mars for the rest of his life? Please?

I am thinking, if they want to keep Ed as a character, they'll have to move him to management as he'll be too old to be an astronaut really by the 2000s.

I don't see Dev running NASA in any scenario. His personality and "management style" just won't fly with government bureaucracy, IMO.

As for Danny in exile, that seems like a safe place for him. It would appear that NASA and space exploration did a real number on Gordo and Tracy's kids - Jimmy is off the rails, too. I am anxious to see how the explosion will affect him in season 4.

I did appreciate the irony of the earlier scene with the Korean cosmonaut's isolation and eating canned food played against the closing scene with Danny in the same situation.

I am really excited for season 4... but will be a long wait.
