I mean the president could just change that and say she deserved it. What award would civilian get in its place? For example the George cross instead of the Victoria cross in the UK.
I didn't really know a lot about it, I'm not a veteran, but when I saw Tracey's gravestone I was pretty sure that the Medal of Honor was restricted only to military personnel, so I double checked before posting.

It was awarded to eight civilian scouts during the Civil War. Congress tightened the criteria in 1917 (so it would need to be an act of Congress to open it up again) and the award was revoked from those civilians, but they reinstated the recipients in 1977. But it's still restricted only to military. The DoD has a Distinguished Civilian Service Award for non-military employees, but person we talking about was not an employee of the DoD. The closest national awards to the George Cross would be the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.

I wasn’t personally bothered by it but it was a bit of a head scratcher. As an alternate reality all is fair game though.

I just finished season 2 (I waited until all the episodes dropped before watching) and I have to say that this has been one of the best TV shows I have ever watched. Tense, gripping, emotional, exciting with great acting and special effects. I didn't agree with a few of the decisions Moore and the writers made but I will trust the writers and I am guessing they will play out and pay off in future seasons. Hopefully we get a few more seasons after season 3. Fantastic television.

I enjoyed Season 1 more than Season 2, but S2 did start to get better with time and through the season. The thing that I really started to notice in S2 was the acceleration and introduction of technology into the mainstream and at NASA ~10-15 years earlier than in our history. I’m wondering why they have done it and what their reasoning is. Things like having a Motorola flip phone in what seems to be mid-80’s (when we really only just had the large brick and in car large installed phones. Of course all the spacecraft and on moon development is itself ~30 years advanced. There were I believe flat screen computer monitors in the last episode and some other things I can’t recall. Are they trying to say, having women in the workforce earlier allowed technology to advance faster? Or maybe having such a large gov’t and military involvement in things brought in capital faster and allowed faster development? Or, maybe they just want to accelerate the timeline faster so they can have apple products like iPhone and imac on screen in Season 3? ;-)

I can’t wait to watch the crew save the mars space shuttle using iphones and ipads, and clever use of an apple watch

Without picking favorites as I love both seasons 1 and 2, the first season was setting up the framework. It used contentious rivalry between USA and USSR to accelerate the cultural movements, such as equal rights for women (women astronauts, woman NASA director).

This second season is a bit different. Empathy drives this season. While the "pull" (distrust) is growing at even more disturbing rate, there's also strong "push" to connect and empathize.

The series is asserting that technological leaps rely not only on fostering brilliant minds, but in other areas as well, such as cultural, economic, and political evolutions.

I think the third season will start to define what for "all" mankind is, where only by working together we can make more transformative evolution.

After Episode 5 or 6 I saw there are bonus videos like "watch after episode 5" with video phone messages. But they seem to have disappeared now? Is there any word on that?

They are back online! I hope they stay online now. They add some interesting backstory.

The Baldwins have a daughter in season 2? Did I miss something? Just like that, out of the blue?

Well, Season 2 is 10 years after season 1. So some changes and development are to be expected. The daughter will be explained though.

Personally I hope there’s a tragic airplane that destroys all the families so that we can concentrate on the space aspect of the show, I’m sure people like it, but I’m not watching this show to watch family-life arguing about frivolous things

The relationships and the human stories are what makes this show. This isn’t just an episodic action sci fi show. It’s a sci-fi drama and it’s some of the best tv there is today.

If they keep the pace that they’ve been taking with the first two seasons, the next season will cover the late 90s and early 2000s. By the end of season 4, we should be in present time but with significant technological advancements that’ll make it seem like the 2040s in our timeline.

If Apple decides to carry on the typical length of a tv show of 6-10 seasons, they can build out a great sci-fi property, with interstellar exploration. These first few seasons will have been the world building seasons of what could be Apple TV’s take on Star Trek, which itself had to start from scratch and went on to become the franchise it is today.

Apple could’ve acquired an existing property, or they could build their own. While I’m a Trekkie, For All Mankind has a lot more character depth and both the scripts and acting are Emmy worthy. It doesn’t lean on the sci-fi flash and special effects. I really like where this is going and can see the potential of For All Mankind for many seasons to come.

I don’t watch a space show to watch people cry and make drama in the bar. But if you enjoy that you do you, but I feel like the content could leverage its premise by emphasizing the space aspect over the sitting at home nonsense drama. There’s shows that specialize on drama exclusively and do it much better.

For all mankinds strength should be the the retro-alternate history sci-fi. Not crying in a bar, drinking in a bar, watching tv in a bar, etc.

Clearly, it’s the wrong show for you. Watch something else. Foundation is coming soon.

It's a show that's made for the general public, not for space enthusiasts to drool over the visuals.
