I got the 16gb and use itunes match and am completely satisfied with the amount of storage I have left over. $199 plus 2-years of itunes match ($25x2) comes out to less than the cost of a $32gb iphone 5. The added bonus is all the music it matches, you get 254kbps AAC (high quality) versions to replace the lower quality song you may have downloaded in ways that the music industry may frown upon.

but, itunes match may not be the best solution if have tons of apps...

My ipad 2 is 32GB and I love it, I think it is the perfect size for me. But I always get the 16GB phones for some reason.

Sixteen GB is okay for the phone. I have iPod integration in my car so my iPhone IS my music while driving. It's about 8.9GB, and that is minus my Christmas music and some really old stuff I haven't listened to in years.

I use very minimal apps. I do not use apps that take the place of web sites, those just clutter up the screen, I never got the point of those apps.

So I have 3.4 GB free, that seems pretty okay for a 16GB, I guess.

I could make do with 16GB on iPhone, but it wouldn't be comfy. Even with iTunes Match in the mix.

I've enjoyed 32GB on my 4 (started 16, bumped to 32), 4S, and now 5. Really really considered getting the 5 maxed out but in the end I'm glad I didn't. Resell value won't come back (but assuming this phone is fault free and works great, and gets jailbroken, I want to use it for 2 years until my next upgrade since 5S will probably not be a big deal to me. With the 4S, I never had the option because I did a trade+cash on craigslist for a 32. But it fit my needs fine and was even overkill in some situations. But I never regret 32. Especially with 1080p video and 8MP shots. And now panoramas..

Edit: on second thought, extra storage doesn't come back in resell but only really if you sell the phone when it's no longer the latest, hottest one and everybody is offloading theirs. I sold my 4S 32GB factory unlocked for $550 in the middle of the summer to try out a Galaxy Nexus. Sold locally in like 20 minutes.

iPad, I could go as low as they want. I'd even be content with an 8GB if it were $100 cheaper. As long as I can jailbreak, I feed it SD cards like a boss for media. I was sort of excited when I read a rumor/faux leak that one iPad mini SKU at a retailer showed up as 8GB (I think in pounds, UK). I would still love it if they had this up their sleeve to draw in a more price sensitive crowd who is interested in the mini.

Is 16 GB enough? Or is worth it to just spend the extra money for a 32/64 GB?
Both are highly subjective. It doesn't matter what capacity you're asking about. Usage and worth vary from person to person. For some it's enough. For others it isn't. For some it's worth it. For others it isn't. If you want to know if it's enough for you or worth it to you to get more capacity then you have to answer those questions for yourself. Randomly polling people won't tell you if 16GB is enough for you or if it's worth paying for more capacity.

Not sure why so few seem to be able to understand this. If you want to ask others "Is X enough?" then you need to provide details regarding your usage to answer the question. Of course, if you can supply that info you can answer the question yourself.

I have over 3GB free on my iPhone 4. Will have more as soon as I figure out how to get rid of 2.5GB of Other.

that same collection will also make you pay $10--15 overage every month if you don't have unlimited.

yeah...because most people listen to all that music at once  NOT

you'd have to listen to spotiffy for almost 300 hours to reach 20gb

the entire point is, you pick and choose when and what.
In order to do that with mp3 you will need to purchase all those cds, and load them all on the HDD.

IMO the money you save not buying each cd.. pays for the subscription and extra gb most people would use. I guess thats irrelevant to most people on here who just download it illegally.

Most people I know download their music illegally from sites like mediafire and hotnewhiphop. $1 a song is really expensive when you're a dj and have 10,000+ They're not really missing out on anything since these rappers are constantly showing off their "fancy" cars and expensive clothing/houses. I like to have my music on demand, I only have a 2gb plan and I've already pretty much reached the limit with only watching a few 3 minute videos and maybe download 1 or 2 apps on LTE

I dont really see your point?? MY op was about saving space for people with unlimited data/ people who can afford to buy an extra GB a month. (its not hard.. dont eat out a couple of times a month etc. )

Doesnt matter if you are a "DJ" its still illegal.
A)not everyone listens to rap.
B)you dont pay $1 a song unless you purchase songs individually,
C) wth does streaming video have to do with streaming audio? video is way more demanding than audio... and if you're on lte its treams in HD...

----------

Why are you glad you got the 16 lol?

he probablly doesnt use as much space as he thought he would?? thus glad he didnt spend the extra like he thought he needed.... lol?

and I said most people I know like the first sentence of my response. Most people I know are of african american descent since I live in the tri-state area near towns with high black populations and I am black myself. Of course that doesn't really matter it's just for clarification. And if it is so illegal then why don't people do anything about it?3 minute videos should not put me at 1.5 gb and I said some people actually listen to all the songs they have on their phone

no you said most people you know download illegally in your first sentence... then proceed to talk about djs and rappers flossin so its ok.. not most people you know listen to rap and download illegally. I thought the part about rap was pertaining to the bit about djs seeing how it derived after that. not the direct object of another sentnce . Sorry for taking what you said...as what you said.

why dont they do something about it? have you been living under a bridge? The feds shut down countless torrent trackers and fileshare website similar to mediafire each year.
its just most arent host in the US...so they cant do much... still doesnt mean its not illegal.. ... go to google and search for it.

i dont see what your point is to all of this? in my very first post... i said "if you dont have unlimited data, or dont want to pay for an extra gb or 2 a month. then its probably right it isnt the solution [for you]"

I'm comfortable with 16gb. I don't need all my music on my phone, do I?

Money is an issue of course, if money was nothign we all had the 64 gb I guess. But do I miss the extra space? Not a single day, I can't even get my 16 gb full in a usefully, necessary way.

Had s2 and s3 before with SD card option so unlimited space there, but never used it...

Haha I do the same thing for sizes with phone/pad and tend to like mobile sites more than apps that take the place of sites.

With the iPhone 5 I upgraded to 32GB from the 16GB I had on my 4S. I'm just not satisfied with the streaming options to rely on them. If I want to hear a song I want to hear it. Those services that let you choose a song charge a monthly fee. I'm not paying to hear music I already have.

The problem with streaming everything or constantly re-downloading it from iCloud is:

  • I don't want to spend my evenings organizing my music and preloading the next day's tunes that I think I might want to listen to. Nor do I want to have to zero in on a wifi spot somewhere to do all my preloading.
  • I don't have unlimited data to stream everything, all the time, from various services.

I have about 20 gig music, so I prefer to just keep it all on me so I've always got my entire collection for whatever I want to listen to without killing my data plan.

This doesn't even factor in vacation pics and videos...

So, 32gig minimum is what I need and it's a good compromise between not enough and too much (not to mention the cost of 64gbs).

I love the people saying : oh man 16 is enuff yo. U can have spotify yo. Offline sync yo.

Ye man. Did you know that u actually have the songs physically on your phone with that ?
Was doing a sync and then I'm looking at the space I had left: 15 gb. 5 playlists synced with about 50 songs each. Ridonkoulus. Never say spotify is the solution.

What language is this supposed to be in?

Some people like a variety of music, so some might like a lot on their phone and BTW the 80's called.. they want "Not" back...
I work outside and I'll play a bunch of different songs all day long. I jump from The Misfits/King Diamond to Sara Evans/Toby Keith. I also buy all my music LEGALLY. My wife and I combined our music to our Mini and over 20,000 songs. I go to used CD places and get stuff cheap, I get them albums on sail from Amazon and iTunes.
So before you say "you can't listen to all that music at once" no crap, but people like to have a variety. Gamers can't play all those games at once either, readers can't read 100's of books at once either

I have the 16GB because i dont listen to 5000 songs per day or even per week, so I never need all my music at the same time. But I know some people like to listen only to 3 second clips of each song so in their case, they go through 5000+ songs per day and the extra space is neccessary.

You're looking at it completely wrong. It's not about listening to "5000 songs a day"...it's about having those "5000" songs with you all the time so you can listen to whichever you want, whenever you want.
