I am so excited. I've been looking at the iPhone so this is
like the perfect thing because I love my current phone and
want multi-touch!

I am soo looking to get one of those, not sure exacly when, but probably when they upgrade it in about a year. So I guess my waiting time would be the same if you live in Alberta and me in N-B.

Was at Seattle Apple store yesterday and they were selling week 41 stock.

Anyone ordered from Apple Canada recently? What week# did you get and any screen problems?

I'm hoping by week 41 that the screen problem has been resolved.

I ordered mine Sept 28th, it shipped out on the 13th or 14th of October, and arrived on the 16th. Its still with my parents, then its going to my brother, and it will be making its way to me next month, but, once my brother has it, he will be letting me know what week # it is.

The screen problems were only in a few of the week 37s, if I'm not mistaken. You should be alright.

What sort of dollar savings do you get if you buy the iTouch from
Apple.com, versus buying it for say BestBuy.
I may do that, do if you run into trouble with dead pixels, do you
have to send it all the way back to Apple again.
If the savings is only 20-40 $ or so, then it may make more sense to
buy it locally in case you need to return it.

Any thoughs ?

If driving across the border to pick one up isn't an option, you're better off getting it from apple.ca's site, or a local retailer. You can not order directly off of apple.com, since that ships to US addresses only. No getting around it.

You might be able to find an online retailer that is US based that will ship to Canada, but you can't rule out the possibility of it being selected for Duty charges (GST/PST, handling fees, etc).

I got my Week 40 Touch today. I ordered it last Tuesday evening from cendirect.com, which is based in Quebec, but the iPod Touch was shipped from Calgary, Alberta. Maybe they have a warehouse there. It's $444, five dollars cheaper than from Apple, and only paid GST (as I am in Ontario) :)

However, I will definitely be declaring my purchase and hand the 8% to the Ontario Ministry of Finance.

Thanks for the answers, I'll take a trip to BestBuy and see what's going
on there.
I still want to touch/hold one and see how the wi-fi works before I
get one.
Yep, no PST in AB, not bad -eH
Hopefully by now all the quirks have been worked out in their
production process and the screen pixels are good.

BTW, can these suffer from burn in ?

I ordered an iPod touch 8GB last monday. They shipped it the next day from Kunshan, China and everything went very smoothly at the start. It was in Alaska on Wednesday, Newark on Thursday and then Mississauga on Thursday. It's been in Mississauga since then and now it's Monday. The estimated delivery date is today (Oct. 20) before 6pm. It's almost 5 now so I doubt it's gonna arrive today. It still says "Clearance in Progress" (in Mississauga). It's been in Clearance for 5 days. I live in Nova Scotia.

Is this normal?
