So you must be smoking that high quality medicinal marijuana.
Is it legal in your state, or do you sneak it?

Sorry, I know that was "mean" but it came to me and I just typed away.

And, I just work in the Creative department at work.

Seriously though, they are different "beasts". I like some sites mobile form and the iPad doesn't always give you that, gives full sites. I haven't used Words/Friends on iPad but like the form of it on the iPhone.
My iPhone is 3G, whereas my iPad isn't, therefore the phone gets more use out and about. I have some apps that aren't ready for the iPad too. wish they were but aren't. I keep music on the iPhone, only 36 songs reside on the iPad.

Plus the iPhone is personal, the iPad (though I won it at work) is a shared device...that means the wife and kid sometimes want to use it too.

Like how I have different size TVs in the house. or how I can use a mobile device after having an iMac or using 2 screens at work and only 1 at home. Driving the Turbo car or the Van from day to day...you adjust and find the Pros in each device for different things to use it for.

My neighbor got an ipad2 for x-mas and it looks really nice -
I was thinking about getting one for around the house.
Was just curious to see what you guys think, if you look at your iphone differently now that you have an ipad?

For sure, I look at my iPad differently than I do my iPhone. My iPad is pretty much my laptop replacement. I use it to take notes in my college classes, surf the web and watch movies when I'm waiting between classes or at home. My iPhone is more for calls, messaging, social networking, iOS games, and listen to music. Not a whole lot of overlap there other than a few games. In no way do they replace each other, as I use them for completely different purposes.

For me at least the iPad definitely took over from the iPhone for the reason you've stated. Being older the iPhone never worked well for my eyes...the iPad
is perfect though.

So now I carry both and use whichever is appropriate for the task at hand.

For the record--the iPad is amazing for Words w Friends. I find it annoying to play on my iPhone after getting the dedicated iPad app. The whole board is in front of you without you having to blow anything up, and the letters are much easier to place correctly.

I also like the iPad for watching TV in bed, because I prop it up with the smart cover on my night stand and then just fold it up and shut my eyes when i'm tired.

I am guilty of hiding my ipad from my wife and kids when I'm home. It sits in my backpack unless I'm using it. I don't mind them using it, but my wife is a clutz and my kids are....well.....kids.

I am also concerned about that cause my wife is always dropping things, and my kids are exacly like yours .................. just regular kids -

Not sure what kind of rukus it would cause when I bring an ipad home?

For my son, it's out of sight out of mind. If he sees me with it, he sometimes asks to play with it, and I sometimes let him IF IF IF I am going to be sitting by him on the couch or at least near him. I also let him play with it at the kitchen table if he promises not to move it from that spot and carry it somewhere else where I can't keep an eye on him. I'm not a jerk about my iPad, I just don't want it dropped.

My wife is very clutzy, but I would kind of be a jerk if I didn't let her use it sometimes. Fortunately, she now has her very own iPod Touch and barely asks about the iPad anymore.

I used to play games on my iPhone more but will say that my iPad gets most of the attention in that regard. Most of web surfing as well done on iPad. Im writing this on the iPad lol

I still love my iPhone for music in the car, gaming on the go and as others have mentioned, its more portable, so it goes more places the iPad doesnt. I wont bring the iPad to certain places for fear it would get stolen.

Take a look at the Samsung galaxy player 5.0.Basically a 5inch tablet that is very portable with great pq and that 5 inch screen makes all the difference in the world. If only it were super amoled technology.

No thanks, I definitely want an ipad.
I had one in my hands and I liked it alot :)

I guess my iPad has replaced the laptop and somewhat an iPhone on steroids.

Before the iPad & iPhones, we had a laptop (cheap PC crap) and we'd use it to get online while watching TV and such on the main level of the house (my iMac is in the basement office). Then we got iPhones, and used them more often but still pulled the laptop out to check things out a little bigger. in a little over a year the laptop was almost worthless, keys not responding, taking a while to get to the internet. Our phones were much faster and we could be on and off before the laptop woke up and even got online.

Then came the iPad. we hardly ever pull the laptop out anymore.

My son (2 years old) LOVES Elmo/Grover/Book apps on it. almost to the point of taking it away brings out screams. My wife and I love to read on it and check out Facebook and various sites. I love Flipboard and using SnapSeed on it too.
I think the NFL app is better on the iPhone sometimes as are the ESPN apps.

How can you even look at the iphone's tiny 3.5" screen after looking at an ipad?
How?

1. iPad doesn't fit in my pocket
2. iPad isn't a phone
3. Retina display
4. I'm not blind
5. ???
6. Profit!

Does it really matter how I do it? Do whatever works for you.

How can you even look at the iPad's tiny 9.7" screen after looking at an iMac or MBP?
How can you even look at the iMac or MBP's tiny screen after looking at a large LED/LCD/plasma? How can you even look at a large LED/LCD/plasma after seeing a movie in the theater?!??

I find it hard to go back to the iPad after using the iPhone 4S, since the retina display is so much easier on the eyes. Can't wait for Apple to put a retina display into the iPad.

It's really not a problem at all. The issue with me is looking at the iPad's non-Retina Display after using my iPhone for a while.

I like both for much different reasons, but I can't help being even more impressed with the iPhone when switching back. I think about all of the technology they have packed into such a little space with such a high quality look and feel...

I carry two phones with me most days - the iPhone and a blackberry Bold. I can see why BB is loosing market share.

I have only had the iPad for about a month but it is slowly replacing my laptop.

for me, iPad makes eyes more relaxed than iPhone's retina display I guess (I have iPad 2 only)

I was about to say pretty much the same thing. I still think my iPad's display looks good, but I'm inclined to say my iPhone 4S's display looks better.

For me, its actually because of the iPad that I can stand the small screen of the iPhone without (too) much complaint.

I noticed that previous to getting an iPad, the petite size of the iPhone's screen was getting annoying. But after using the iPad for almost a year now, I think that the usage times I most wanted a larger screen are almost the perfect times for using the iPad instead.

At home, out at a friend's house or on an overnight stay, these are the times that a 3.5" just doesn't cut it. Ah, yes... Grab the iPad. :)

Other times (at work, shopping with the Boss, or at an event) the "pocket it and forget it" size of the iPhone seems to work well as what I'm using it for is relatively quick in, quick out.

I do hope that the next gen iPhone has a 4" or larger display though.

Using an iPad and iPhone are two very different experiences since they're kind of also designed for different purposes. I had no problem switching back and forth.

However, after using a larger screened phone (Galaxy SII), the iPhone's screen feels uncomfortably small.

I agree with all of the above.

iPad/iPhone

iPhone - on the hip
Phone, email, text, audiobooks, apps that leverage portability, such as weather and travel, stocks, movie theaters, trivia such as Wikipedia and IMDB, social media.

iPad - on the coach
Newspapers, movies, books, casual surfing/shopping, casual gaming. If you read the NYT or WSJ and live in a place that ever has bad weather the iPad is worth the cost with that alone.

iMac - on the desk
Anything.

If you have at least 2/3 of the above, iCloud f/k/a MobileMe does a very nice job of syncing contacts and calendars.
