The 6+ is obviously going to cause a lot of people buyers remorse when you see this many threads defending purchasing such a large phone. It's like they are trying to talk themselves into believing it's not to big. I guess if I carried a purse the 6+ might work out but having to carry that thing in your pocket is going to suck. I guess there is always a man purse...

That doesn't prove anything except that the iPad screen is bigger than the 6+ screen which is already obvious. The question is will the 6+ screen be big enough such that people will just switch to their laptop or desktop without needing an in between device. I'm willing to bet the answer is yes for a lot of people.

That difference is massive. And throw the iPad Air in there, and it's no contest.

That's like saying your Mazda 3 rides nice and smooth, can it replace your Lincoln Continental. Sure, it will get you from point A to point B, but there is no comparison. The larger screen opens up all sorts of possibilities the smaller screens can't, and when looking at these things, bigger is better.

For most normal people.

My 5" S4 with Otter case fits easy enough inside my pocket, so I don't think the 6 Plus would be all that more difficult. The only concerns that give me pause with it are how blurry the screen will be and how much slower it will be than the smaller 6 because of the rendering and scaling it has to do.

Like what? The bottleneck is usually book and website reading. At 5 inches, eBook layouts become pleasant and reading for long periods of time is enjoyable. I know that from testing it on a mate's Samsung. Going smaller and things feel sacrificial.

I knew I wanted a phablet under 6 inches when the iPad mini came out. Played with it and knew that something even smaller would be perfect to use as a tablet and if it had phone calling then..

Penny dropped.

I have a 27inch iMac at home and the girlfriend an MBP. If we really need a larger screen, they're there.

But the 3 is smaller, more nimble, and much more fun to drive. With Skyactiv technologies, it also gets great (better?) gas mileage too.

um... penny picked up?

You can't exactly lie in bed comfortably to read stuff at night with a 27" iMac or MBP as you would an iPad.

For People Who Said 5.5 Inch Screen Is Too Big

Good luck taking your iMac to bed with you.

Can you read on a 5,5" or 4.7" screen? Yes. Is that reading experience better on a 7 or 9" screen. Absolutely. Not sure why we are even discussing this.

It's like saying finding $5 is better that finding $20. Many times bigger IS better. No magic or conspiracy here.

Want to talk portability? Oh, that's a whole other subject. But readability? No contest.

And if you'd rather get up from bed to read your iMac screen instead of laying down and handling a tablet, that's great. I'd rather be more comfortable.

Likely to go the other way as well. Those who purchases the 6 because they assume the plus is too big, only to later regret not purchasing the plus.

I can tell you that I've been using the LG G3 (yes I use both iPhone and android for business)with no problem. In fact, I enjoy the LG and wouldn't my new phone purchases to be any smaller. The LG g3 is only slightly smaller than the 6+. I anticipate using the plus with ease and enjoying it a lot.

The screen still is too big for some. Hence why the 6 will likely outsell the 6+ similarly to how the Galaxy S outsells the Note series.

Be prepared for the typical "fat and lazy Americans" response to that one.

Nah it's not. You don't keep scaling text larger and larger as the screen size increases. There's a bottleneck for reading where the screen is so cramped that it feel sacrificial. You can't use a dodgy scalability analogy for something as complex as human reading.

That's why the latest gen Kindle is 6 inches.

That's why I had two iPads and am replacing them with the 6+.

What was your point by the way?

Still too small for magazines, comics and letter/A4-sized PDFs in full page portrait.

If you want an A4 experience, you need an A4 sized screen. I didn't find magazine reading in iPads that good as magazines have always made good use of space for artistic reasons and that gets lost when you shrink the page.

But, I've no interest in that. eBooks and web browsing is my bottleneck and is the bottleneck for a lot of people, hence phablet growth.

If I can fit any phone in my pocket, I use that as an indicator that I need to do more squats and legpress

No kidding. At the thigh, most of my pockets would not flatten out that much. Only khakis with their super deep pockets would hold a phone like that.

Also, wonder why none of them tried sitting down.

I'm waiting for an increased number of "my phone bent all by itself" complaints.

I thought my point was pretty clear, but I guess I'll say it again.

You can't exactly lie in bed comfortably to read stuff at night with a 27" iMac or MBP as you would an iPad.

To be more specific, it's easier to hold an iPad in bed than having to try and prop up a 27" iMac or finding a spot that allows for adequate ventilation for your GFs MBP.

iPad in bed is better than holding up a cinema projector in bed too.

What's that got to do with me replacing my iPad for a smaller phablet?

Its not too big but after a week in your pocket it'll look like this

Nothing. The point was that an iPad is easier to hold in bed than an iMac or MBP. Why would you even consider holding up a cinema projector... nevermind, I don't think I want to know.

We're talking about downgrading screen sizes from a tablet to a phablet.

What's that got to do with me owning an iMac or MBP? Those are for working on, not sitting in bed reading eBooks.

I'm a guy but I was one of the very few males I've met in 11 months of weekly travel with a Note 3. I did however meet many, many women with one. I think women like it because they have purses.

Yes I've noticed that a lot of women love/own big phones.
