What I'm reading is many Apple fans are exceptionally poor at making decisions thus hate choice. Instead of different options suiting different people there has to be one right answer that makes everything else wrong. It's interesting what makes people tick.

Very interesting analysis. Choice makes Apple fans crazy.

That difference is massive. And throw the iPad Air in there, and it's no contest.

That's like saying your Mazda 3 rides nice and smooth, can it replace your Lincoln Continental. Sure, it will get you from point A to point B, but there is no comparison. The larger screen opens up all sorts of possibilities the smaller screens can't, and when looking at these things, bigger is better.

For most normal people.

It depends on what you are doing with the device. I have an iPad mini and I already use my iPhone way more than I use the mini, even while at home. It is just more convenient for me.

With a screen size this much larger I don't see myself ever using the mini.

Opinions differ, but at some point there is a limit to where a bigger screen is better for mobile content consumption. I personally don't feel that an iPad air has anything over an iPad mini retina. In fact, for ease of use/comfort, I would consider the iPad mini retina better than the air.

We're talking about downgrading screen sizes from a tablet to a phablet.

What's that got to do with me owning an iMac or MBP? Those are for working on, not sitting in bed reading eBooks.

The post that I replied to originally mentioned them. That if you needed a larger screen, you have them at the ready. It'd be more convenient if you had an iPad at the ready if you, for whatever reason, wanted a larger screen while reading doing some light work, or doing whatever whilst laying in bed at night.

Yes, larger screen for working on, or anything that requires a larger screen.

Certainly not for reading an eBook in bed.

Absurd.

None of this has any relation to downgrading tablet to phablet.

Not just Apple fans, but people all over the world. It's likely the reason behind major conflicts in the past, today and the foreseeable future.

I'm still deciding between the 6 and 6 Plus. I'd get both, but I don't want to spend that much money.

Did you use a Lincoln Continental in your example because depending on your age someone could look ridiculous while driving it? Kind of like how people here claimed for so long that someone using the Note series looked ridiculous when using it as a phone.

Well, clearly it isnt because galaxy note has sold well and iphone 6 plus has had unbelievable demand.

Get over the facts that most people want big phones.

And why on earth were most people hoping there would be no 5.5 inch version?

If most people wanted bigger phones then the previous iPhones wouldn't keep beating the sales #s of the previous years model. It also wouldn't be the best selling smartphone in the US.

I think you and your fellow phablet zealots as well as the anti-phablet foes need to get over the fact that there is no "one size fits all" phone and move on with your life.

Also, True demand for the Plus is unknown because we don't know how many units Apple made available for preorder.

If you want an A4 experience, you need an A4 sized screen. I didn't find magazine reading in iPads that good as magazines have always made good use of space for artistic reasons and that gets lost when you shrink the page.
Maybe you do but I find a 9.7" iPad to be quite comfortable enough for that. I think compared to letter/A4, it's shrunk down to 75% which is quite acceptable to me. I'd rather have the slight shrinkage than have to carry around sheafs of print-outs.

IMO, the deciding factor is portability. And more precisely, how often do you have it on you.

Most normal people carry their PHONE with them everywhere. Tablets tend to get left behind because of size and because you can't talk on them.

Different strokes for different folks. But the device you carry with you at all times is the one you'll talk on, take pictures on, browse the web on. Because you have it with you.

I rarely browse the web on my iPhone. Sometimes I have to. I need to look something up and that's all I have handy. Bro I make do.

But when I have both the iPad and the iPhone handy, I always reach out to the iPad if I'm browsing the web or wanting to read something. Most people would do the same. It's a bigger screen, more comfortable to read.

If you would rather reach for your iPhone having an iPad accessible, great. Congrats. That's a bit weird but you can do whatever you want.

But the key here is portability and access. Most normal people rather use a bugger screen to read but rather carry a smaller device.

It may look ridiculous to some, but it's undeniably a lot more comfortable.

And seriously, who the heck cares what I look like using my phone? There's these things called "headsets". Great innovation. They let you use your phone without holding it.

I was JUST at Best Buy and was playing with a Note 3.

Really happy I opted for the 6 Plus. It's really not as big as people are making it out to be.

Yeah if you're into glossies then it's a reasonable compromise. Anything that gets people off paper is a good thing.

Though I think comics could be done better as a single page can be broken down into various scenes. These could be adapted to smaller devices - you could be flicking through one at a time which I'd love as you don't catch the next scene in your peripheral vision.

*snip*

Agreed. Given a choice, I'd opt for my iPad. When out and about, the smaller iPhone works for me.

Apple don't care.

The iPhone 6+ costs more than an iPad.

They win regardless.

iPhone 6+ costs less than an iPhone + iPad. In which case Apple lose in one regard.

But that's better than bleeding customers to Samsung if the phablet trend continues and Apple hadn't responded.

Its not too big but after a week in your pocket it'll look like this

Don't get it. I've seen where people have said their 5/5S is bent but I keep my phone in my pocket every day and have never had the issue.

Its also worse on MPG, higher maintenance cost, harder to park, harder to drive in city traffic all because its bigger. I don't think bigger is better analogy works with vehicles very well. Ride comfort, towing capacity maybe, ability to cause more damage when running down pedestrians...Not much else really..

I couldn't careless what phone other people use but I used to see it brought up around here all the time, usually followed by a picture of someone pretending to talk on a tablet like a phone. Although in good fun people I work with used to rag on me when I had a Note 3. They didn't actually care though but on some level I did feel silly especially when I was supporting the phone with my shoulder to my ear. Lol...

Ummmm, dude, you are overthinking this.

Let me make it simpler.

Screens. Bigger is better.

We shouldn't be allowed to make choices, instead of waiting online or ordering from apple I pre ordered via AT&T and got screwed, clearly we shouldn't be allowed to make decisions. I get hung up on making a color decision, now they want us to pick a size?

All kidding aside I picked the 6 plus just because I wanted to try out the size...
I have an ipad air that I don't use, I bought it thinking it would be more convenient than a laptop, but not for me. It's more of a pain in the ass...

My 4s was my lifeline when I was traveling heavily for workl, I relied on it for information as well as information. Sometimes I traveled with my personal laptop which was cumbersome and I didn't feel like i needed to go with buying an ipad, having one more thing to lug around, take out at security, etc.

I did however wish my iphone was larger at times when trying to watch a tv show in the hotel or trying to read something online...

It's funny every time I get a new iphone I can't believe how much smaller it feels in my pocket, I guess I won't have that feeling this year. lol

They have that already (panel view). I just never liked it and prefer reading full page.

The 6+ is obviously going to cause a lot of people buyers remorse when you see this many threads defending purchasing such a large phone. It's like they are trying to talk themselves into believing it's not to big. I guess if I carried a purse the 6+ might work out but having to carry that thing in your pocket is going to suck. I guess there is always a man purse...

Same can be said about those who post defending their purchase if their 4.7" sized iphone 6 model.
